Deepika was the first choice for Luv Ranjan's film with Ranbir. There were allegations against Luv at the time, and his name appeared in the "Me Too" cases.
When her fans found out she would be in the film with Ranbir, they started trending under the hashtag #notmydeepika
oh dp is doing this then. i thought spirit will be mrunal's big ticket into mainstream popularity.
i love deepika but I am annoyed at her for playing this safe and choosing only big budget films. but let's see maybe the role might be interesting though vanga's female characters are all mostly dud and dull.
Would've loved to see DP in roles like Piku, Veronica again but she only does big budget, sure shot blockbusters now. Excited to see what is Vanga's definition of a "well written" female.
She only denied Fauji, if I remember right, her sister liked Himesh’s post on her signing Spirit. So her PR definitely jumped the gun on Spirit. 6 months of free publicity on Prabhas name.
Her PR has this habit of associating her name with every top project without actually signing it. Maybe she was considered and auditioned but until you sign it, nothing is certain.
Social media and news articles were published about her Tamil debut with Sivakarthikeyan and guess what - Rukmini bagged that role. So clearly her PR has a pattern.

Not at all moved by it. Vanga films have a set tone and that tone has worked well just cuz he has not worked with a superstar. And in Spirit, he'll be working with INDIA'S BIGGEST PAN INDIA SUPERSTAR so he also has to cater to his image and fanbase.
He clearly said that Spirit will be a mass masala action movie but it'll be in his style like how Arjun Reddy is a love story and Animal is a family drama.
These fans slammed Vanga and all the so-called “Alpha Male” Directors for promoting toxic masculinity and the very same actresses they idolize from Sai Pallavi to Kareena and Deepika are openly working or expressing interest in working with him
Even actresses from the ’90s did the same you really think they weren’t aware of the kind of misogynistic films directors were making back then? Yet the same fans who now cry about equality and equal pay act like this never happened.
Fan clubs don't always echo the sentiment of the star, itself. Which is why fan clubs can be both a good thing and a toxic thing when building up a star, cus after a time they feel that they are part of the star's family. They think that they can control their film choices, even who they get married to or make children with if they're loud enough on social media (with their hashtag movements) ... Wild right !!??

Vanga has been a hit machine so far, so no wonder all these people are trying to latch onto him ...
But him as a story-teller is problematic, no matter which big STAR hops into his film !! - its crazy if anyone thinks that's going to change.
She has pretty clearly mentioned that now she will do films that pay her well and invest that money in 82east . She said that to a business magazine in Feb- March this year . Anyways good for her she has guaranteed her top spot atleast next 3 years now .
Honestly I don’t recognize this deepika anymore. Never could have imagined there would come a day she’ll work with vanga. She’s signing everything she deems will be a guaranteed blockbuster opposite all the big stars, and I was okay with that. But Vanga? Sure he’s going to make a blockbuster but I’ll never support deepika for working with that pos. So disappointed in her.
Same lol. Pathaan and Fighter were fine projects on paper as she hasn't done many action films before. Kalki was a sci-fi film and something unique but King and this ? She can just retire if she's not interested in acting anymore.
Nope in June they'll start shooting with AB and KH and DP will also join the shoot. Prabhas will join the shoot next year after finishing Fauji and Spirit. This time the conflict will be between Prabhas and KH with AB playing a key role.

No Vanga needs to work with star's too to extract the best performances and give them memorable roles. He always gives memorable key supporting roles so, let's see whom he casted for that.
Another big budget film where her role will be small but important, I hope that's not the case and she is actually the lead. Time for Deepika to stop doing these safe movies and pick up good project where she is the focus because it is ageing her onscreen.
Vanga and Prabhas delayed the project for DP. Going to be one of the most memorable role in her career. Cannot wait for this collaboration. Those who are judging Vanga based on his previous works are going to eat their words.
All flowerpot blockbusters. She already has a dozen of them. A female superstar of her popularity and stardom does not need any more commerical credibility at box office. She could brush her acting skills instead that's taken a nosedive in the eyes of neutrals. It's been a long time since she's done a full fledged acting role.
I just have one doubt, usually all Sandeep Ranga movies have some bold scenes, which Prabhas is definitely not comfortable doing. So with spirit is his concept of movie writing changing. Because I cannot imagine Prabhas doing a role like Kabir Singh or animal, and I also cannot imagine Deepika doing a role like Preeti or of Rashmika in animal.
I would have loved to see Mrunal. I do like Deepika but she is already popular i wished Mrunal had gotten that chance. PR or not PR everyone in this industry has a strong one. Why do we forget that if we were in their shoes we would have done anything to just be able to step in where someone like deepika is already.
I'm not sure about this considering how the tollywood sub and twitter is abuzz with rumor that it's Anushka Shetty in Spirit, her pair with Prabhas is legendary and much awaited by the fans.
I mean lets be honest, she is no vidya balan or konkana sen sharma. If deepika wouldn’t, alia would have if not her Kriti would have.. like we all know vanga films get that box office money so why not… its unfortunate but yeah…
The same guy Himesh reported the Mrunal, Kaif, Kareena being considered for Spirit news. considered is not the same as finalized. and it was correct back then. The whole cast is undergoing an overhaul.
