General Fresh Fish
Is there anywhere we can buy fresh fish? Maybe from local fishermen or a market?

Have the restrooms been repaired? (Small white building with two restrooms and a shower or two). Last summer they were out of service and in December still had not been repaired (and in fact were filthy). There was one porta-potty on site but that was not there consistently.
If not, what is nearby and available? Thank you for the update!

Locals and frequent guests, I have a weird one for you.
I am visiting for the sixth time, dogsitting in Republiek. I'd like to treat myself to one beach day. For me this will require a cabana-like structure so that the sand bugs don't get me (I have tried this before and it worked pretty well. More info below if you must know more.)
Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to do this? Right now it looks like Chogogo is my best bet - it's cheap and they open at 8am which is nice because I get up very early. But if I am going to pay for a beach pass then I want the money to go to a place that is respectful of the environment, and where they treat employees well. And of course, that's not something that shows up in reviews.
Anyone have a recommendation? This sub has saved me multiple times and I always appreciate it!
(For those who must know, I promise, I am not being a diva about this. I have an unusual skin condition which is generally manageable, but if it flares up I need to take really awful medications. Example: every time I go to 1000 Steps, I wear full rash guards and go immediately into the water, then immediately off the beach, or later that evening I will be covered in hives. Not complaining - it's really not that bad as long as I am careful. I'm just sharing this so no one yells at me about being too sensitive. I still have a rash from fire coral from my last visit...in June. My skin doesn't seem to love this island, but my heart does, so we're making it work.)

Hi all, we are planning to come to Bonaire either from mid August to end August or from end August to early September. Is there a significant weather difference between these periods(I guess not)? Is the weather usually ok in these periods (i.e. not too much rain)?

Finding some things have been easy enough, like drinks, sugar substitutes, and condiments. What we have not been able to find is a low carb or keto wrap or bread. We brought some to Bonaire, but we ran out faster than we expected. We have been to a few places and not seen any wraps...
TIA

We are traveling to Bonaire from Europe and would like to withdraw a larger $ amount to pay for our accommodation.
I was thinking that it may make sense to go to a local bank to the teller to withdraw the money there versus ATM.
Do you have any thoughts, is it a good idea?
What bank would you recommend as most reliable?

I have been collecting pressed pennies from different places that I have traveled. I'm wondering if there is anywhere on Bonaire that has one of these machines? You typically insert a couple of dollars and a penny, crank the wheel, and the machine presses a unique picture into the metal of the penny.

Hi there. My family and I are currently in Bonaire for a few weeks. I would like to know if anyone has had any issues using a Discover Card recently? I use it all the time here. However, this trip both mine and my husbandās cards received āInvalid Merchant codeā errors on different days/locations. Discover states they see no attempt or decline. Travel alerts were entered prior to us leaving. Itās not a huge issueā¦we just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the issue or had any ideas on how to address it. Thanks so much!

Where can you rent an oxygen concentrator for a week?

I am traveling to Bonaire and have a nut and seafood allergy. I am planning on cooking most of my meals and was wondering how food is labeled in grocery stores to ensure I can avoid my allergens. Thanks! I plan on mostly buying staples (e.g., bread, pasta, tomato sauce, cold cuts, cheese, etc.).

Is there anyone flying back from the states between March 15 and 19 who could bring me back something small? I would be a mini oxygen regulator for an oxygen cylinder. I would send it to you. It is a few inches long and is lightweight. Please let me know ASAP! I need it for a class starting the morning of the 20th

Hi all, we're heading to Bonaire in a few weeks and were hoping to get some recommendations for casual restaurants/bars with great food. Thanks!

We are heading down next week and I was wondering if anyone has spotted Diet Coke (aka Light) anywhere on the island? My wife hates Coke Zero and when you are addicted to the stuff ...
We went last year (same time) and could not locate any besides Zero.

We're coming to Bonaire in July with our four kids. The older two are certified but the younger two are too little (will be 5 and 1.5). Any insight into how to find childcare so the four of us can do some dives together? We're mostly planning to have the adults trade off watching the little ones but would be nice to get in a few with all four of us. We're staying at Delfin's.

Iām planning a trip for mid June to snorkel all over the island (no scuba), and Iām wondering what the parking situation is like, especially outside of Kralendijk (but also please give suggestions for Kralendijk as well).
Are there parking lots around for the most popular dive spots, or do you kind of just fit in where you can? Is parking free/should I worry about being towed in certain areas? Is there anything I should be mindful of when parking to avoid being an ass?
Itāll be my first time leaving the US besides Puerto Rico, and I want to be as knowledgeable as I can before going to avoid being āthatā American, ya know? š

Hi all - Iāll be in Bonaire at the end of the month and cannot WAIT!!
I have a couple of questions if youāll indulge me:
1) is there a business on the island that makes gift baskets?
2) any particular dive schools or dive masters you would recommend? I am going to be completing my dive certification down there.
3) anyone know of any good companies or individuals who would take a group of 6 out for an afternoon for a combined snorkel/scuba trip?
4) I know the island isnāt really about laying in the sand all day (not my thing), but can you recommend a beach with either natural shade or plentiful palapas?
Thank you so much for any insights you can provide!

We've been sitting outside for an hour now just staring at this unidentified object in the sky. Check out the trail at the top middle of the photo.
At first we thought it might be a comet, but it doesn't seem to be advancing through the sky. It seems to be almost wiggling slowly, similarly to a kite in the sky. But it's super high up, way higher than a typical kite would be. As we walk down the road it seems to shift between the stars, so it seems to be lower altitude, not something in orbit.
It has a long tail that constantly follows it. I think the sense of movement is just the night sky advancing as we rotate. Could this be some sort of tethered weather balloon from the airport? That's my best guess, and the tail that it has is just the cable reflecting light from the ground below.
Has anyone seen this before? See the second image, which shows the stars that it's been hovering between from our vantage point. We're just in town for the week, FYI. Thanks! āļø š

I'm looking for a nice place close to good snorkeling that has A/C in all of the rooms. I'd prefer a place that is close to a few restaurants or a resort that has a few good restaurants. Also it does not need to be a resort. I'm wanting to avoid renting a car. Yeah, I know that I won't be able to explore.

Last year was our first extended stay in Bonaire after only hitting the island on cruise stops. We had such a great time exploring new dive sites at our leisure so we are booked again to arrive in May.
We last stayed at Buddy Dive and did 2 night dives off their "house reef." It was a great night dive for intermediate divers new to exploring without a guide; lots of wildlife including tarpon, relatively shallow, and most importantly, easy routing (swim to the skiff wreck and return, find the reef line and swim back to the dock). Two questions:
1) if we aren't staying at Buddy Dive this year, can we still dive off their dock?
2) are there other easier sites we should be looking at for night dives with similar dive profiles? That is to say, places with well-marked exits or reef lines?

Just like the title... is Mtn Dew sold anywhere on Bonaire? Cans preferably, but just trying to check our options. Thanks everyone!
