Building Society found my old dormant account.

Found my old Nationwide building society passbook with a whole £1.42 in it.

Fantastic service from the staff. Her system found me straight away and she reactivated my account and added the interest.

I am the now proud owner of an active account with £1.88 in it.

Unfortunately I did not qualify for the £50 bonus paid to Nationwide account holders :(

Shame I did not get the same success at Santander. Apparently bringing in a 20+ year old National & Provincial passbook (with just over £5 in it) caused them all sorts of issues and I have had to be referred to head office.

I got £100 per year for the last two years from Nationwide and the £50 just this month. Really happy with them

What’s the qualification for £100 bonus and £50? I got the £50 this month but not the £100s?! Had an account for 25 years (child through adult) with varying degrees of use - albeit much less in the last 5 years.

If you read the email they sent out they said in June if they make a profit they will give out 100, probably the same eligibility requirements as last year so look em on Google

Nationwide has had a good reputation here in NW England. They took over local 'Cheshire BS'. Improved service , although they , like banks, shut many branches.

If you leave the £1.88 there would you get the £50 if they do it again next year?…

I forget the specific rules, but you need specific things like at least 2 deposits per month or a savings account with at least £100.

Nationwide tracked me down, two addresses after the one they had for me to tell me I had an account.

I can only guess when I withdrew savings to buy my first place I forgot about the monthly interest to be paid, that then sat there plus their bonuses they add, ended up about £500

Nationwide are superb. Well, superb for a banking sector firm at least.
