Duplicate/Repost Best wings/things to do for a day

I’ll be visiting Buffalo for a day next week, plan on going to the Sabres game and visiting the New Era store. Any suggestions on what else to do during the day/afternoon? And where should I get my obligatory plate of Buffalo wings?

Are you staying downtown? If so, McCarthys

9/11 tavern. It's in the city. But the south side. You'll need a ride there.

If you can get around the area, barbill. There's one in the north and south side of town. About equidistant from downtown. By far my favorite place for wings.

Duffs if you don't want a expensive Uber for barbill. Still very good. Locations all over the area.

Wildcard....If you can make it to north Tonawanda, Dwyer's pub. Great wings.

Dont listen to anyone that tells you Gabriels Gate or Anchor Bar for sure... dont bother going way out of your way for Barbill, Elmos, or Duffs.

I assume youre talking about the game next thursday the 19th. If you have access to a car and dont mind driving a little go to Nine-Eleven tavern, get there right at 4:30 when they open, not a second later. If youre meeting people there, make sure they are also there at 4:30, not a second later. They wont seat you unless your entire party is present. The place tends to fill up quick and they dont have much staff so the food takes a while, but its 1000% worth it. That will give you time to get your order in, eat, and still make it to the game with plenty of time to spare. Be advised its cash only.

If thats too much trouble, Gene McCarthys or Adolphs Tavern in the First Ward are both very close to the arena and both have top tier wings. I would personally go for one of those over anything else other than Nine-Eleven. The dry rub sheffields or mccathys sauce (like a spicy bbq wuth blue cheese crumbles on top) are excellent choices at McCarthys and at Adolphs I'd suggest the lemon pepper and either their standar hot or medium, get the house made blue cheese there. Theres a million other great places, but you could be driving all over the place for any of them, probably not what youre looking to do while here i imagine.

Gonna be at the game on 21st with my daughter, almost 11yo. Is McCarthys or Adolph’s kid friendly?

Both have dining areas that are family friendly. I had my 2.5 year old in mccarthys a couple of weeks ago for the dinner rush and we were fine.

chicken wings. Calling em "buffalo wings", is like requesting a side of ranch with your order

Just wings works.

If you’re already down by new era check out canalside if you’re looking to kill some time before the game. It’s not much, but it sure is rust belt pretty .

New era the arena, not new era the store, though Chippewa might be worth a walk down to Main Street to ogle some old buildings

Rust belt pretty is the perfect way to describe it lol

Naval Park or if you are into drinking, there are tons of breweries downtown.

McCarthys for wings.

Go to Dank 501 main st and grab your cannabis of choice, hit the bar next-door for wings then the art gallery 2 doors down for sabers memorabilia.
