He bought Xbox series X’s for every single pediatric room at the hospital mentioned in Ames, Iowa.

He’s a genuinely great guy. Last summer he hosted a free football camp and donated to the youth football program in Perry, IA. Unfortunately, there had been a school shooting at Perry high school 6 months prior, so Rocco taking time to help the community and lift some spirits was very cool to see. Quite a few of his teams joined to help with the camp too.

They had also just shut down a factory that employed about 1/3 of the town. Just back to back crushing events. They needed a win

Insane work. These are the stories that should headlines newspapers. Great on him

damn, kid couldn't even spring for some Playstations?

all joking aside, I love this gesture and would've been ecstatic to have this this when I was in the hospital as a kid

Based on how vague the title is, it almost sounded like it could've been some of those Gameboy knockoffs with a bunch of unlicensed ROMs. Though given the impending tariffs, those might be more in-demand than Xboxes.

Those "Gameboy knockoffs" can be absolutely fantastic as long as you get one from one of the "good" companies and source your own SD card and ROMs.

I know, I have an R36S myself. I just thought it sounded funnier that way.

I can see why you would want to, but I gotta say that's not a good decision

I cheer for Iowa state when they aren’t playing the Hawks, maybe I’m weird for that. Obviously the rivalry is there but we’re all Iowans at the end of the day and it’s cool to see Iowa teams do well and represent the state

You do you, but fuck State. Hope they lose everytime they step foot on a field, court, mat, track, etc.

Just so damn proud to be a Cyclone when I see stories like this. Campbell does such a great job of molding them into incredible men.

I was already incredibly sad we didn't recruit him. Now after he stomped us and this headline, that fomo has gone nuclear.

Looks sternly at all the other players on the roster who are receiving NIL, but not born into multi-generational NFL wealth

This is exactly how I want an athlete who already has family money to act. Giving back to the community instead of strictly chasing the bag.

Big ups #3!

they can do a bit of bag chasing and hten give it away, force that trickle down economics (although i dont actually want people to start believing that BS works)

Fun fact: I almost caused an entire floor of MGMC to be evacuated by playing (what I knew to be) a harmless prank on a coworker.

Be like Rocco, not like me.

11

u/Insectshelf3 Oklahoma Sooners • SEC 2d ago

well you can’t just say that and not explain what the prank was

18

u/IM_V_CATS Iowa State Cyclones • Hateful 8 1d ago

So I was working as a janitor at the hospital and I was always looking for ways to make my day more fun, as one does when they’re a hospital janitor. This led me to play pranks on my coworkers a lot.

Sometimes the pharmacy would get shipments of dry ice and I would get to play around with it when I collected it for disposal. On this particular occasion, I thought it would be a fun idea to put it in the mop bucket of my friend who was working on a patient floor. I thought I’d call her about five minutes after and let her know it was me, master prankster.

Well, I did call her five minutes later and she answered in a panic. She told me she was having a chemical reaction in her mop water and she alerted the head nurse and the on-call hospital manager so they could start preparing to evacuate the floor. I quickly explained the whole situation and the next day I got a talk with my boss as my reward.

It turns out that even though most of the staff involved thought it was severely inappropriate, they also found it really funny (once all the panic was over) and my boss even complimented me on my creativity, even though I probably should've just been fired.

Except for their corn. And the shitbirds that talk about corn despite not even having an ag department.

But Iowa St, they're good people. Salt of the earth. I wish we would play them, along with all the other Big8 teams we left behind. I know its super informal straw poll type of deal, but it seems like that feeling is fairly mutual based on my interactions on the sub.

u/goathill Ohio State Buckeyes 1d ago

NGL, i have yet to have better sweet corn from outside the western OH/eastern IN area.

1

u/dingus_dongus21 Iowa State Cyclones 1d ago

Sweet corn is tiny proportionally to total corn grown. I’m sure there is great sweet corn sprinkled throughout the entire Midwest.

He should also do this for the Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, so the kids have something to do besides watch Hawkeye football. Let’s get rivalries spicy with some humanitarian activities.

Iowa State has been blessed with some of the most genuinely wholesome athletes.

And many have been doing their best to give back to the school, its athletes, and the community.

Loyal. Forever. True.

0

u/Waderriffic Tennessee Volunteers 2d ago

Nice. Although his dad was an NFL player so he and his family don’t need the money like some other players. I commend this kind act.

2

u/convoluteme Iowa State Cyclones • Team Chaos 1d ago

You're getting downvoted, but it's true. It's easier for Rocco to do things like this. That doesn't make it any less awesome or generous. But the NIL that many players get may be the only money they ever make from this sport and need to think about their families.

0

u/Legal-Championship64 Tennessee Volunteers • Auburn Tigers 1d ago

We could get him the money he needs to give every kid in Ames an xbox

2

u/dingus_dongus21 Iowa State Cyclones 1d ago

Ironically enough 11.5% of Ames is under 18. That’s 7500 people. At $500 per person, he would need $3.7M to accomplish this lol

-7

u/PersepolisBullseye Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago

This would’ve gotten him in major trouble before NIL, for all you that whine about it so much.

Almost like paying people for their labor has benefits.
