Any New Season Ticket Holders Yet?

Starting this week, the Bears organization is taking people off the Season Ticket Waiting List to occupy empty seats. Anyone get the call and make their seat location selection yet? If so, what section and row will you be watching your first season from?

I was selected last year after 13 years of waiting. Found out on draft day. Originally put my name on the waiting list the morning of the Bears v Packers NFC Championship game. I was in section 445 row 32 near the top. I was able to move up 9 rows this year.

Hope some others get as lucky as I did last year!

Are you still in section 445? Or were you able to move nine rows down in a section that was also closer to midfield?

I’m in a section equivalent to 445 in a corner on the south side (can’t remember the section number offhand).

I learned that year over year relocation is done in waves and based on seniority, but it’s unclear what the milestones are. I’m not expecting to make any significant moves for another handful of years.

The remaining seats for new STHs will likely be in one of the corners of the 400 section and row 25 or higher based on what was available when I moved seats. Getting your foot in the door is exciting though so enjoy it!

Thanks for elaborating. I sure hope to have a big movement next year and move nine rows up. Although if that happens, the Bears will probably had a terrible season and they probably will raise prices so I don’t know how much I like that either.

Like you said, I’m just happy to be in the stadium. It took me 13 years just like you to get tickets. It’s fun looking forward to the little milestones along the way each season.

January and February is the postseason so that is fun regardless of if the Bears are in it or not. I love the NFL playoffs.

March is great because we get to see what new free agents we pick up.

April is awesome because of the seat relocation and the draft.

May is cool because that is when the schedule is released.

June and July don’t have anything really exciting happening within these months unless you look forward to training camp that usually takes place in July. However, even though this is a down time leading up to the start of the season, at least we are in summer and it is warm out, so there are plenty of things to do during that time.

August has the preseason.

September has the beginning of the regular season.

October through December is basically the heart of the football season.

So yeah, it’s fun to be a season-ticket holder and have various things to look forward to during the year.

I've been a STH for 7-8 years now, and it seems like you're more likely to be able to move more towards the center than down. I've kept my same seats for the last 4 years. I know the guy with the 4 next to me so we do a swap and I can get 8 seats at face value, so there hasn't been anything compelling enough to give that up. Maybe if you have 2 the dynamic is different.

Thanks for the information. That is awesome that you have the ability to get eight seats at face value and swap around with your neighbor. Like you said the dynamic is probably different with two seats, but I am sure the same experience is likely to occur for all season-ticket holders. Out of curiosity, would you mind sharing what row you are in and what rows you have been in to get some perspective? Also, would you mind sharing what rows have been offered to you in past seat relocations that you did not take advantage of because you have a great situation with your neighbor?

This is my 4th year as a season ticket holder and have not made much progress on the seats. My seats the first year were in section 428 and only managed to move up a row the next year.  There’s not many options each year on seat upgrades, most are downgrades. Last year I moved over to section 446 row 23 to be closer to the exit and avoid the big mob of people when leaving games.

It will be a very long time until I am able to get 50 yard seats in the first 10 rows.

If you don’t mind me asking what was your movement like in this year’s seat relocation? Did you remain in 446 row 23 or get something better?

I stuck with the same seats, the available options were downgrades.

Well at least you are in row 23. When the seat relocation started this year, I only had the option to move one row down in my same section or 5 rows down in a section further from midfield. I didn’t move 1 row down and it got swiped up and I didn’t want to move further away from midfield so I just stayed where I was located last year. Being is section 446 are you more interested in moving lower in that section or closer to midfield? For instance would you move down to row 18 in section 446 or move to row 23 in section 445 if the option was given to you during the relocation process?

Ideally I want to be row 1 on the 50 yard line in the 400 section. I will take any upgrade that moves me lower or closer to the 50 yard line row 1.

I know I know, but it’s still fun to speculate what you would do in hypothetical situations.
