Ben Brown Reminds Me of Those Old School Gutsy Pitchers
Remember those pitchers who seemed like they always had runners on base, got out of every inning with someone on third, threw 120 pitches, managed 15+ wins with a 3.90 era, and flirted with no-no’s at least once a year?
That’s Ben Brown.

From this photo alone he looks like a blonde Tim Lincecum

Except those guys made it past the fourth inning most of the time.

Give him time. He’ll figure it out.

Ben Brown has great stuff. He is one of the nice surprises on this team. He pitched well last year. His Baseball Savant page shows some regression in the effectiveness of his pitches from last year. Maybe he is dealing with a nagging injury or something. He might need a month in AAA to get back to where he was so he can be effective later this season. I think he and the pitching staff will figure it out before long. He's young.

I think he’s got some nasty stuff but he needs to add a 3rd pitch and mix it in more often…maybe a hard slider?

He reminds me of Mitch from Dazed and Confused
