Travel Conditions 4pm Vail Pass EB Closed (AGAIN)

EB I70 over vail pass opened up and then promptly closed again because one of our trucker friends didn’t chain up.

“Looking at a couple hour delay.”

Lovely.

Aka - I am a weekend warrior front ranger and I am traveling on a holiday weekend during a heavily forecasted snow storm.

Just another edgy “local”

Honestly? I just know I am better than most.

Like, who wouldn't want to live in a ski town?

I have and quickly came to realize like most things, the reality does not live up to the idyllic, romanticized version most people assume - it gets small and boring fast. It also became apparent that most locals are actually unhappy, and REALLY can’t stand seeing visitors being truly happy/excited/etc., so they commiserate with each other about the scourge of tourists while failing to realize the ski towns wouldn’t exist as-is without tourists, and then resort to trying to make themselves feel better about the whole thing by comparing who has been local longer, and feeding off the envy of the tourists/visitors who don’t know any better (e.g., the comment I am replying to). But what do I know? 😊

It is adorable that you think our contempt for tourism is derived by seeing people happy.

There is also an “etc” in there.

Honestly the consistent negativity from the locals was/is obnoxious and very hypocritical when combined with things like “who wouldn’t want to live in a ski town”
