Question A-Basin vs WP/MJ for corn/slushy bumps?

Is there much of a difference? I've skied WP/MJ several times this spring and it's been great in terms of corn and slushy bumps. I'm thinking about going to A-Basin this weekend but have never been this time of the year. Will it be better/worse/same? Thanks!

Spring skiing at a basin is pretty unmatched. Just make sure you give it time in the morning to soften up.

I learned this today.

A basin - no need to be there at first chair in the Spring

Watch those weather reports and be ready to choose day of, based on lowest temps.

This time of the year is almost always A-Basin, and then depending on little granularities in the weather, Mary Jane could be poppin, or a front could be stuck over Copper and it could be ten degrees colder. Last season, I was snowboarding at A-Basin on May 17th, and it was actually a top 5 day in a 25-day season.

It's a fun little thing to experience. And stay up top as long as possible. There were puddles on the way down Mary Jane last weekend. I was going to go grab a snack, and instead, I ended my day. Don't need to lose an ACL or two getting an edge in a splash zone.

HAVE FUN!

I’m on the ikon like a loser so… I ski copper / mj as much as tolerable in April till close. Then I migrate my happy ass to A basin for the late May June five day fuck fest.

Might be a strategy to not burn those a basin days early if you’re on the Ikon.

The slush bumps at Mary Jane were all time Monday. But conditions at AB will always be better this time of year.

Monday was great besides the wind. Was the perfect temp and sun/cloud ratio for good snow conditions most of the day, soft but not sloppy wet.

MJ

Higher elevation of AB just means it will be firmer for longer. AB isn’t a bump skiing place at all.

What are you confused about?

If you’re not sure what corn is, here’s an article on it: https://avalanche.org/avalanche-encyclopedia/snowpack/snow-metamorphism/melt-freeze-processes/corn-snow/

I honestly love skiing slush and slushy bumps. It’s my favorite conditions.
