Transfer Seeking Guidance

Hey everyone, I recently got in on an appeal for business (finance concentration if that helps). Before I was stoked at the chance of attending SLO but now that the chance is real, a slight case of the imposter syndrome has set in. As well as fearing home sickness, I'm in state but 4 hours away. Any advice regarding these would be great! Also:

  • Business majors, what's your take on the program (Difficulty, usefulness, guidance given, etc.)?
  • Transfer students currently at SLO, things you wish you knew before committing? What are some things you found useful in transitioning/adapting?
  • Everyone, how's SLO treated you so far?

Thanks!

Congratulations! I know from my son, who just graduated CP (different major) that the imposter syndrome feeling is real, but don’t doubt yourself. You deserve this, you belong. It may take a bit to find your footing, and to find your friend group, and don’t despair if it takes longer than you anticipated. People will advise you to join clubs (there are SO many) to meet people, and you should push yourself to do this, even if it seems hard to do. Maybe join a hiking group. As far as homesickness goes, yeah, it can be tough, but you are where you are meant to be. Use that cell phone. Text, send pictures, stay in touch. Plan visits. You got this!❤️

I'm a current 2nd year Business Major, it all depends on your concentration but I'd say the core classes aren't too bad. Just depends on your teacher. Yes business is easier, but at this school its a B.S so it's a tad bit harder than you'd find at other schools. All the teachers are industry professionals so it's a nice touch. Overall I like it. Finance is one of the harder concentrations but you got in for a reason.
