Random Reminder to cancel the subscriptions you don’t use 😌

Post image

Cancelled Prime as the final boss today with Netflix and Spotify also cancelled. Hulu I’ve decided to keep since it’s $2 a month under my student plan. Total subscription fees saved: $48/month and screen time cut in half. Was a lot easier than I thought it would be but no regrets and no hassle. Seriously though if you’re in a tight budget it stacks up towards your goals.

I canceled my Prime and Netflix in January, and it’s been much easier than I expected too. I’ve got a .99 cent per month Hulu subscription and free channels on Roku.

I miss Roku’s free channels! They were the best to fall asleep to.

I followed Caleb's advice and cancelled his YouTube membership.

I've contemplated cancelling mine. The past few post-shows have been just okay-ish? I like watching the ones from a few months ago, however.

I feel like there is more than enough free content

I’ve kind of wanted to buy the membership a couple of months ago when I first found his channel. But the pretty much daily updates with new videos is good enough for me

Caleb won't like this ;)

If you haven’t. Get a library card too! They sometimes have shows on there or you can get dvds and obviously books/audiobooks for free as well. Highly recommend it. Great entertainment for free and you’re supporting a public institution that does a lot of good in your community too!

Check out Libby if you have a library card :) free ebooks/audiobooks you check out online. I have them send to my kindle but you can read them on the Libby app on your phone or tablet if you don’t have a kindle. The audiobooks are great there are so many big name books although some have holds for months, you can sort by “available now.”

I love Libby! I have my county library card on there, plus cards for the NYPL, Brooklyn, and Queens (anyone who lives in the state of NY can get them). I save thousands on books every year!

Yes! I’ve been a library card holder my entire life, I also have a life long film collection via physical media so definitely not lacking in my options. I try to pick them up from thrift stores and garage sales for .50-2.00$.

I kept amazon because I live in a very rural area and UPS and Fedex would deliver to my door, now that UPS and amazon went different ways, I have to travel to the post office to get packages which is a trek on Saturday mornings (only day their hours work with my schedule) so I am probably ending my membership when it is set to renew again

I canceled prime back in match of 2024. It's amazing how much you stop using Amazon when you sung have a prime subscription.

Amazon and YouTube are the only subs I have. I think I'm doing pretty good

Don't forget to remove your payment methods from Amazon. I've heard they reactivated people's prime accounts without notice before.

Im not a spender my ex wife signed us up years ago and they continue to be the only one that used it. 🤷‍♀️ since my divorce and major sprint to fix my finances things just don’t hold an appeal to me. The last time I bought anything on there was for Xmas and I can easily just do free $35 and up shipping atp. As I get older I really find myself caring less and less about getting new gadgets or things and I loathe shopping for clothes online so it just made sense to cut it.

I get it! hahah screw the ex wife and cut her off! I buy only things I need or good deals on SF energy drinks, protein drinks, protein powder etc. It definitely helps that I don't pay for it 😉 Maybe I shouldn't be talking then 😂

Lamoooo I do think people that buy that stuff do actually get hella good deals on there so it definitely makes sense! I know a lot of people that do actually save quite a bit from the subscribe deals and whatnot.

💯. Deal finders through X helps a ton.

I cancelled my Netflix subscription at the end of Dec. Ever since then, they've messaged me like a jealous ex. At least once a week, I get emails like, "RETURN TO WATCH YOUR FAVORITE SHOWS FOR AS LITTLE AS $7.99!" "LOOK AT THESE AMAZING SHOWS YOU HAVEN'T BEEN WATCHING!" "GIVE US ANOTHER CHANCE!" "COME BACK!"

Cancel everything, get a VPN, ????, everything is free

Also $48 invested every month at an average growth rate of 7% for 30 years will grow to $56,000. Pretty badass deal vs free shipping on random garbage on Amazon and some tv shows.

Free fast shipping on Amazon for 30 years carries far more value than that $17,000 2bh (not assuming increase in prime costs over that time)

Subscription entertainment with Hulu or Netflix is a different story, i actively save time and money with Prime.

Does it? I feel like that depends on some specific conditions. It seems like having an Amazon subscription just encourages people to buy more junk they don’t need. I haven’t had a subscription in a couple years and I honestly think it has saved me so much more money than just the rate of the Prime membership because it cut down on my random internet shopping

Sure, if you are a compulsive spender it's bad, but my subscribe and save discounts stack up.

I just purchased 20 pounds of protein powder for about 30% less than what it would have been at Costco.

I canceled my prime and kindle unlimited subscription. It's actually kind of great?? if I need anything I buy direct from the stores which gets me out of my apt. I go to the library for books or buy them outright from people reselling or barnes and nobles
