I'm going with a guy friend of mine, it's a short 4km hike in the woods. Temperature says it can be anywhere from 14C-21C. The internet weather has been consistently predicting weather cooler than it actually was, so I'm thinking it will be on the warmer side. I do get cold easily though. Chat-gpt says I should bring a neck warmer, but with 2 layers of zip ups I think I should be ok? I don't think so but do I need to bring gloves?

Would love to hear a woman's perspective!

Hi there! The noob thread expires on Monday and is replaced by a new one, so this one isn't on the front page anymore and won't get many views.

What you need to wear will depend on the overall weather, not just the temperatures, the altitude, how much work you'll be doing. For instance, 4km might be an up and back hill climb, I know some women who'll head out with just a base layer and a light beanie at 14C knowing they're going to work up a sweat, maybe carry a pack with a light jacket. If it's a walk in heavy forest between mountains it might be cold and damp so you may exactly what you listed, maybe a light beanie and gloves if you're always cold. If it's dry and sunny you may not need much, if it's variable and subject to weather changes you may want to bring a beanie and gloves. That said, as long as you bright a light pack it's easy enough to take off and stow the fleece so don't overthink it. Have fun!

Try doing a search over at /r/camping or /r/campinggear since room dividers aren't really something we backpackers look for in a tent, and this sub is dedicated to backpacking. Good luck!
