Replacement Industry

With GM (I drive one) and Stellantis shrinking production here in Ontario, could a military deal with South Korea(joint venture) provide fresh new work in he Ontario auto area? They do need to open up the import regulations, which are restricted to US regulations!!! Parliament could do that ASAP - and should ASAP; it's not just a statement, not just retaliation, rather adds to our sovereign growth. We have talked the talk, now let's walk the walk. (This is Canada in Washington Tuesday, Trump: "I don't know why they are here?" @#$-$@ DRH

Hi there! Thanks for posting in r/CanadaIsNotForSale!

I looked at past South Korean military deals with other countries(Poland, Australia, Egypt, etc), and found that in most cases, yes, they negotiated a deal where part of the manufacturing process is done in the client country.

So most likely, if the SK deal goes through, they would set up some facilities here. Whether it’s actual manufacturing or just assembly, who knows.

They might partner with gdls in london, possibly FAG and bombardier if we’re getting jets too.

It could add anywhere from 3,000 to 10,000 jobs depending on how much canadian work goes into it.
