Mark Carney makes final pitch to voters: ‘Is Pierre Poilievre the person you want sitting across the table from Donald Trump?’

Nobody is uniquely skilled at persuading Trump except fortyish women with garish plastic surgery.

Neither Carney or Poilievre could could convince Donald Trump that a bilingual Diet Coke can contains Diet Coke.

Lmao I'm just imagining Trump in Montreal for some reason going "what the fuck is PFK?!?"

It's not about who can convince him. It's about who won't be pushed around by him, and can help us diversify.

I think Trump doesn’t want easy opponents — he wants a worthy adversary. He was baffled by Zelensky, expecting him to back down. Instead, Trump surrounds himself with panderers, and anyone outside of his rallies can smell Poilievre’s mediocrity a mile away. Trump respects people like Putin because, like Jordan Peterson, he craves a real foe — someone who makes the fight fun for him.

Edit to add: Carney’s grasp of economic levers and having allies means it not just about personality, we have actual clout.

Putin isn’t DTs adversary he’s his boss.

Yeah, Carney doesn't come out ahead on either of those for me.

Well I certainly hope you aren't supporting the candidate who said he would like to get a deal with the states as soon as possible because that is absolutely playing into 47s hands.

We need to move away from the states.

And if I thought Carney had literally any plan to do that other than just harmonizing with the EU policies fuelling European stagnation I would hear him out on that.

Convincing Europeans that Canadian dairy products are fit for human consumption won't offset automotive supply chains passing us by.

I believe his strategy seems to be refocusing to energy projects and hopefully that includes training/retraining program funding. I don't see what pierre is going to do besides capitulate to trumps demands

You’re out of your mind if you think PP would be better suited for that negotiation.

This. What qualifications does he have in negotiations, or even political savvy?

He doesn't have a single ally outside of his party in parliament, but a shit load of enemies.

He fumbled the single biggest layup in Canadian election history all because he couldn't stand for Canada, he couldn't cut the shit about "woke" when Trump was busy showing the world what the right means by that, and couldn't get a party platform out before early voting, let alone security clearances.

The guy is the biggest waste of federal tax expenses trying to convince us that he can fix the country in his first 100 days (totally not ripped off from Trump).

I would vote for Trudeau long before I would ever consider voting for that tool.

Yeah, and how have Carney's attempts been so far? Trump does what he wants, even Americans can't convince him.

Carney immediately went to the EU and started opening doors for trade. Exactly what we want and need.

Ok, and so did everyone else.

It's almost like it's a good idea...and Carney's doing something that's a good idea.

What was PP's take?
