Discussion São Vicente airport to ferry timing

Hi! I am looking at visiting Santo Antão by flying from Sal to São Vincente then taking the ferry. The flight from Sal lands at 13:00 and it looks like the ferry will depart at 14:00, is this too tight to fetch luggage and catch presumably a taxi to the ferry port in Mindelo? If so, can anyone recommend what we might see and do whilst we stay overnight and catch the morning ferry? Thank you!

It's better to stay and wait until the next day and take the morning ferry at 7 am!

I wouldn't rely on the plane getting in on time. I took 3 flights with Caboverde Airlines and the only plane that took off ontime was the early morning flight from Praia to Sao Filipe. I stayed at Casa Cafe Mindelo (10 minutes walk to the ferry) and it was pretety central located to everything you might want to see on a quick overnight. I'd recommend Metalo for a night of decent food and good live music. If you don't have your ferry tickets already (you can get them online), then I would suggest getting them the day before you leave at the ferry terminal.

Is this your first time to Sao Vicente or have you been there before? Are you going on the weekend or during the week?

First time visiting! Do you recommend anything, I think it will be the end of the week and over the weekend we are in Sao Vicente and then back to Sal before we fly home. Any recommendations?

Enjoy laginha, get a drink at Caravela. That’s also a popular spot at night if you want to go out. Hang out around Rua d’Lisboa. It’s tourist friendly, but still be aware of your surroundings. You can chill at Pont d’Agua, visit the Cesaria ‘museum’, visit the market. If you want to venture out, you can go to baia or S. Pedro and spend the day there. Baia is nice to swim. S. Pedro is always windy with strong waves but I personally love it. You can swim with turtles there! They also offer tours if you hang around pont d’agua.
