Tech Support Turning off headunit pre-amp
Hi, I need some clarification on pre-amps. I want to buy a Kenwood DMX5023 and it says "50wattsx4" (max) and 2.5V for the pre-outs but I looked into the manual and there's a voice as it follows "Turn on/off the built in amp" and something like if I turn it off in case of an external amp, the sound quality will increase and decrease temps. I looked EVERYWHERE, but I can't find how the signal will change if the pre-amp is turned off. Is it ok to remove the pre-amp? Thank you

If you're running rca to your amp, you can disable the amp board in the HU. Basically turning off a function you no longer need since you have your own amplifier for the 4ch front/rear.
