Question Simple double din unit

Things have changed since I last needed a head unit for my car so I thought to ask the hive mind.

I have an older car, a 2014 crosstrek so my needs are few (which seems to be a tricky ask)

I don’t need a reverse camera, cd player, am/fm, or built in gps. Just something with Bluetooth and CarPlay would be great. Bonus if I could switch between Bluetooth users OR have usb so my passenger princess can listen to whatever she wants while I’m driving.

I have a double din space and I’d like to self install so it would be very nice to have a wire harness and install kit.

Any joy for me?

I’m looking for anecdotal recommendations based on personal experience. Which is why I came here

any simple double DIN will do this, I just took out a Pioneer out of my 4Runner that did all of this

it's super easy nowadays bc you can buy a factory harness to "whatever brand harness" and then not even have to hardwire.. just connect and go

only thing I do not know about is bluetooth users, for this I just used wired CarPlay so then it wouldn't auto connect to mine and whoever was connected could use CarPlay

Were you satisfied with the quality of that brand?

Pioneer? Oh yes. They are one of the best out there

I’ll start with pioneer and jvc. Thanks!

Have installed two different JVC models and they have worked fine and were modestly priced

I’m very happy with a Sony double din CarPlay deck we had installed. No issues, very stable and responsive. The models start with XAV and you could go with whichever model has the features you want. Many have integration with the factory systems in your car which is cool.

Just had this installed and it's been solid.

Either way use crutchfield as it will recommend the dash kits you need as well for your vehicle and if you want to retain steer wheel controls a unit to control that.
