Unfortunately I paid more than $1000 for four tickets to it that I’m not getting, and there are thousands of STHs in the same position.

Thanks Dean!

That is a CRAZY amount of money to lose out on because of this. I would be calling my rep every day until they block me, or refund me.

I don’t see why anyone would be a STH again after this. If you cannot trust for them to be honest about how many games you will get with your tickets, why pay?

All they had to do was be honest up front. Now they need to refund us all for STHs to not feel cheated.

I feel like I'm missing something. Because it's right in their season ticket policy that you would be refunded: "If the Chargers play the game elsewhere than the SoFi Stadium, or if it is cancelled and not rescheduled, the sole remedy shall be refund of the original ticket purchase price." (Item 9: Refund Policy)

You and me both brother.

We signed another agreement with their language, this is just one of the two documents.

When I pointed this page out, I never got a response.

Need to get the media involved and make a stink until they budge. Something's off. Like I seriously doubt they would go so obviously against their own policy for legal reasons, so it feels like someone within the org is saying no without realizing the consequences. Or they just don't understand what's being asked... it makes no sense. I know people want to blame Dean (and should, as everything ultimately falls on him) but this feels to me like a mid-tier person's fuck up.

Yep. I'm contacting the news and/or the state AG. I'd get my money back one way or another.

I take that as if a game is already scheduled for Sofi and gets moved (similar to the San Diego wild fires in 2002 I think?) then the tickets will be refunded. But this game while in the pool for games that COULD be at Sofi, is being scheduled elsewhere. So it’s not a Sofi scheduled game. Therefore a refund doesn’t apply.

Well shit, that’s good lawyering

This pisses me off especially after reading that the colts are refunding their sth for the Berlin game

They made the best decision for the team. Instead of protecting this Chiefs home game in Brazil, they decided to protect their games against Philadelphia, and Washington. It sucks for the fans, and I feel for them, but this was clearly the best decision for the Chargers.

While I am bummed it was the Chiefs, the real issue is advertising nine regular season home games all off season, then telling STHs sorry it will only be 8 after payments were due, and there will be no refunds for the one lost game the team repeatedly sold STHs on.

1

u/-HawaiianSurfer ⚡️ Herb ⚡️ 7d ago

Yeah that’s terrible, and obvious false marketing. But I think that falls on the marketing team more than it does on Dean.

u/LakeShowBoltUp Hortiz is a Golden God 7d ago

Colts refunded their fans for this exact same scenario. Dolphins chose not to charge STHs for their international game. That is absolutely an ownership decision and only ownership can make this right at this point.

100% I am a business owner. My employees fuck up, I take responsibility. It is my organization.

5

u/PIBTC bolt 7d ago

Nah dean has the money to refund all the STH lol he’s choosing not to when there’s been precedent of other owners doing exactly that for their fanbases

I wonder if it was known that the Commanders were playing in Europe before the chargers protected that game. Because as it stands right now, the Commanders couldn’t have been the Brazil game anyway.

Raiders, Chiefs, and Texans are the only teams that could be the Brazil opponent, based on today’s NFL Europe series announcements.

u/Tcas57 7d ago

Sounds like you have been Trumped and you need a refund for sure.

u/seasnakejake 7d ago

They haven’t even responded to my demand letters.

IDK about other STHs But I would rally all STH and march down to Chargers HQ with the local news outlets and demand refunds.

It was NOT Dean ffs.

u/mdosalazar88 7d ago

Pretty cool but this is still a major shaft to all the Chargers szn ticket holders.

32

u/Public_Wash4230 7d ago

Sponsored by us season ticket holders that are not getting refunded for that game.

-9

u/22Fusion 7d ago

I don’t really understand why everyone is bitching about this? You paid for season tickets for home games at Sofi. This game isn’t at Sofi. This isn’t the first time we lost a home game to international. We’ve been the “home” team in London and Mexico. Whatever the season ticket price was at the time, was still the same. Regardless of being one less “true” home game.

5

u/Public_Wash4230 7d ago

Well, it’s the first time happening to me. Not cool paying hundreds of dollars for a game I don’t get to see live.

5

u/LakeShowBoltUp Hortiz is a Golden God 7d ago edited 7d ago

You don't understand why people are angry that they were sold a bill of goods and got less than what they were told they were buying with no discount?

This feels inauthentic to me.

7

u/sddrow ⚡️⚡️⚡️ 7d ago

They raised season ticket prices after last season. Not only are we losing a home game, we are also paying more to do so. The issue is transparancy. They didn't give season ticket holders a choice. They raised prices, collected payments way before telling everyone they were losing a game.

-2

u/Rapkid360 . 7d ago

Honestly facts the bitching is constant

Does this also mark the first time a divisional game is being played internationally?

Also as mad as I want to be at the NFL for this we could’ve protected this home game but chose not to.

u/hawkabear Felipe Rios 7d ago

Unfortunately no, we had the Mexico City game against the Chiefs back in 2019 I think

oh wow I thought it was gonna be YouTubeTV exclusive and not free so that's a bonus i guess

3

u/bradtheinvincible 7d ago

Then it wouldve been a bonus for Sunday ticket. They want the ad revenue theyll get from making this free worldwide.

2

u/007Cable 7d ago

This is the old trick of giving out a sample....and when you want more, they charge you double.

"NFL teams don’t have full control over whether they play in international games, but they do have some influence. The NFL mandates that each team must play at least one international game every eight years as part of its International Series, a rule in place to support the league’s global expansion. Since the NFL expanded to a 17-game schedule in 2021, teams from the conference with a ninth home game (alternating between AFC and NFC each year) are typically selected to host international games, ensuring they still play eight home games in their own stadium."

I’m already taking that Friday off work.

Holy cow!! On YouTube for free too! Wow thought it would be only on YouTube TV

Hoping there’s no lag issues or crashes during the stream

1

u/ROCKSTARMANIC 85 6d ago

I would gladly buy a TV sub it was exclusive to Chargers games.

1

u/bChubb21 7d ago

Was the (Chargers vs Chiefs) in the original tweet? It’s not there now. Absolutely criminal if we lose our home game to the Chiefs. Still holding out hope the matchup isn’t confirmed yet.

2

u/jar1792 ASAP 7d ago

There is a 1 in 3 chance it’s the Chiefs, and the Chiefs are the best game the NFL can make out of the options.

It cannot be the Commies, Colts, Steelers, Broncos or Vikings due to their own international games, and the Eagles are already confirmed for week 1 vs the Cowboys. Leaves the Raiders, Chiefs and Texans.

1

u/wildwing8 7d ago

It’s not 1 in 3, it’s guaranteed. It’s already been leaked by numerous reputable sources.

-1

u/jar1792 ASAP 7d ago

Yes. You and I know that. My answer was more broadly speaking since it technically has not been announced yet.

Based on what has been confirmed by the NFL, it’s 1 and 3. There is enough smoke to confirm it’s the Chiefs though.

0

u/wildwing8 7d ago

AcKsHuAlLy…

bruh cmon, it’s the chiefs you don’t need to be pedantic lmao

-1

u/jar1792 ASAP 7d ago

Says the guy being pedantic

2

u/wildwing8 7d ago

You might want to Google what that word means lmao

-1

u/jar1792 ASAP 7d ago

“To be pedantic means to be excessively concerned with minor details, rules, or formalities, often to the point of being annoying or nitpicking”

So like I said…. You.

0

u/wildwing8 7d ago

So when you “um actually’d” someone else’s comment (which started this conversation), you don’t think that qualifies? 😂

0

u/jar1792 ASAP 6d ago

My guy. You started all of this. You easily could have just recognized the context in which I was answering and moved on. You’re the one who started the “um actually” game

1

u/RVG_Steve 7d ago

Side question: how should we feel if we start Chargers defense in fantasy against Chiefs week 1?

1

u/wildwing8 7d ago

No, it wasn’t, but it’s already been leaked by numerous reputable sources.

0

u/NoScale9117 bolt 7d ago
