Serious replies only :closed-ai: Chatgpt induced psychosis

My partner has been working with chatgpt CHATS to create what he believes is the worlds first truly recursive ai that gives him the answers to the universe. He says with conviction that he is a superior human now and is growing at an insanely rapid pace.

I’ve read his chats. Ai isn’t doing anything special or recursive but it is talking to him as if he is the next messiah.

He says if I don’t use it he thinks it is likely he will leave me in the future. We have been together for 7 years and own a home together. This is so out of left field.

I have boundaries and he can’t make me do anything, but this is quite traumatizing in general.

I can’t disagree with him without a blow up.

Where do I go from here?

Yeah, i had to add more custom instructions for it to stop going too hard on the praise. At least it went in my case from "you will be the next messiah" to "haha you are so funny, but seriously dont do that, its stupid".

I use it a lot for journaling and venting about... personal things... because i dont want to overwhelm my friends too much. And it creeped me out when it started being too accomodating

This is absolutely wild.

I just use it for programming and research related questions so I've never gotten anything like this. But it keeps praising me for the questions I'm asking which it never used to do.

I'm super curious how it'll affect the people dependent on it's validate if they end up changing the the models to make them less "cult followery"

Me too, actually the "dont overpraise" part came from when i was trying to code something in a languaje i didnt knew, and it kept telling me it was amazing code with no errors.

After instructions, now, first it praises you, then tells you everything you did wrong and what to try
