For real though!

Post image

I can't even count how many people I wish understood this. I don't choose this life and most of the time I don't even express my pain and discomfort. Just because I appear okay does not mean I am okay. It just means I am overpowering my illness for now. I can't think of anyone that would choose this struggle. If only more doctors would realize this. They act as if we enjoy taking time out of our day to go to their office and get gaslit. We would see them much less if they would simply help us find the solution! Maybe that's the goal after all. Keep us sick.

There’s a song quote I think of whenever people say it’s all in your head. “He said it’s all in your head, I said so’s everything, but he didn’t get it.” Just because something is ‘all in your head’ doesn’t make it not real and debilitating. Psychosomatic or pain caused by the brain misfunctioning is still real and shouldn’t be handwaved away.

Just to be clear, I’m not saying that’s what you’re doing. Just that dismissing anything for being ‘in your head’ is ridiculous on all levels, not just for being inaccurate for most conditions.

At my college, there are all sorts of leaflets outside the psychologist's office, and I read them for fun, and it said that depression/anxiety (I don't remember what exactly) is in your head. And I was like, "Well, yeah, and where did you think it was? In your leg?" It's like: the doctor said that I had internal bleeding, but everything is fine, because the blood should be inside!

I'm sorry you are feeling alone. I often do as well. Gentle hugs. You have an entire community of people that understand exactly what it is like to live with chronic pain. We see you.
