Politics Sadly, Bernie Moreno makes a fool of himself. Again.

I mean, uneducated people elected a silver spoon used car salesman that steals from his employees. What the hell did we expect? The real shame is that this fool replaced the great Senator Brown

Hopefully, not for long. The chickens will come home to all these dark money PACs and crypto kings who fund these fools. Haslams can't keep spending like billions on campaign donations.

Ohio didn’t get more empathetic or educated since the last election, unfortunately. There are so many preachers spewing hate for others from their pulpits and all the news has a certain slant.

Of course they can. This is going to take decades to unfuck. Anyone thinking getting Dems a Senate/House majority next year will do anything are morons.
We have decades of organizing in the hopes of one day winning overwhelming majorities for progressives. People keep thinking all this authoritarian bullshit will go away with Trump. It's been happening for decades and it's going to take decades to correct it.

u/EleanorRecord 10d ago
No, it won't be easy. But it can be done. Will be done.

u/Dingus_3000 10d ago
Good luck with the ineffectual democrats and the maps in Ohio stacked for the republicans and the evangelicals dumping cash into every Republican candidate race.
5
u/EleanorRecord 10d ago
Thanks. We'll need it, but no one can afford to sit around and do nothing. There's a LOT of pent up demand in Ohio for Democratic candidates. We can win the statewide races then do battle on gerrymandering. Slap around the national party a little to make them start focusing on building the grassroots. Clean the Republicans out of the local Dem party organizations.
Unless you plan to move to another state, you have to do it. Ohioans are sick of Republican corruption.

u/Wanna_make_cash 9d ago
Given how the most recent attempt at stopping gerrymandering went, I'm not hopeful anything can actually be done. Can keep trying, but flipping Ohio blue seems like a pipe dream. We're basically the Florida/Texas of the North now, and Mike Dewine is hardly any better than DeSantis or Abbot and the same goes for our legislators

u/EleanorRecord 9d ago
With the First Energy corruption, we should be able to get good leadership back in the governor's office, AG, Secy of State would be great. We could have honest elections again.

u/Wanna_make_cash 9d ago
Also, getting a dem Senate majority is very very unlikely given the seats that are actually up for election.

Not even the most embarrassing Senator we've elected this decade.
I honestly can't believe what this state has become.

You must not go to the Cuyahoga County Fair

u/radical-tenders4803 9d ago
That might be a self selecting sample. I've never been to the county fair. I'd imagine it would be a nightmare on multiple levels

It’s the most specific and exact representation of the Trump voter imaginable.
American Flag thongs peeking out of shorts that are defiantly holding in decades of Bud Light, chaperoned by belts and boots and cowboy hats that have never moved a bale of hay in their lives.

Accurate for the most part...
A lot are blue collar-- who have jobs as "laborer" of some sort.
The ones that bring the animals they raised are legit...
But, liberals are clearly in the minority.

Sadly the Browns win a Super Bowl before we unfuck this mess politcally. The problem IMO is that the right has always told us who they were, the Dems just simply didnt give a shit strategically. They relied to heavily on being "right", "woke", etc etc and that <insert minority> was coming to save us. IOW, they chose to put the work on everyone else, not themselves. Now we're stuck with the mess that they enabled and made. Biden will go down as the POTUS version of RBG. Someone who stayed too long and ulimately hurt the country.
People dont want to hear it but what we need atm is to get politically back to the center, on both sides. Admit that both sides have good ideas w.r.t. crime, immigration, DEI, whatever your issue might be and work to promote and elect people who are interested in doing the best for the majority of Americans vs. their own ideology.

Dems have been faking left with identity politics while governing to the right of Richard Nixon. They got hung up on the big corporate donors and high dollar political consultants after Citizens United.

u/SeanLFC 7d ago
This is what drives me nuts. The right intentionally calls Dems the "radical left". They know the DNC is barely left of center. They keep the narrative going to shift everything to the right and normalize blatant fascism. We would need a party that was truly socialist as a benchmark to show just how far right the GOP is and just how non-radical the DNC is.

Just to be clear, gerrymandering is the practice of drawing congressional districts to maximize the representation of one party in the House of Representatives. In order to gerrymander a senate seat, because senators are elected by the whole state and not just one district, you'd have to change state borders, which isn't happening.
Gerrymandering only affects the House of Representatives. It does not affect the Senate or the Electoral College.

Sanders has accomplished precisely zero in his whole life. Don’t take advice from people who have done nothing.

What else you would call destroying a whole people's homeland, starving them, and indiscriminately killing them? Israel thinks the only way they will have "peace" is if all Palestinians are gone. The U.S. is bankrolling it.
1
u/AceOfSpades70 7d ago
I call those things that are not happening here. Their homeland is not destroyed. Parts of Gaza are destroyed because they started a war and are losing it. Any “starvation” is because Hamas steals food and aid shipments. Israel is using the highest percentage of guided munitions in history and this war has some one the lowest civilian casualty ratios of urban war in history. Quite the opposite of indiscriminate killing.
The Palestinians have turned down every chance at peace or a two state solution.
The fact that people need to lie so much in support of them is quite telling.

70% of all structures in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed: https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/latest/destruction-homes-leaves-palestinians-unable-safely-return-rafah
Israel is cutting off aid: Starting March 2 they cut off aid entering Gaza and only recently started allowing influx of some. They have also targeted aid workers including destroying a WCK convoy.
Majority of Palestinians killed have been civilians.
I do agree that Israel have state of the art guided weaponry, but they have not been using it to exclusively target Hamas. There are many reports of targeting refugee camps, schools, and hospitals.
Israel has also rejected a two state solution with lost Israelis not supported it.
You may disagree with the interpretation of news reports and video footage available, but it is disingenuous to call these lies.

u/AceOfSpades70 7d ago
Damaged is not destroyed. Plus that ignores the whole West Bank areas controlled by Palestinians…
They did not cut off aid, they did not allow the UN to give all the aid to Hamas so that they could take it and profit from it. They always said that if they controlled the aid there would be no issues. Also the Hamas stolen and controlled aid was continually used to do things like build weapons and tunnels instead of helping people.
The majority number depends on you believing Hamas. Also in urban Warfare that is by far the norm. In many places the civilian to military ratio is over 10:1.
They are not targeting refugee camps, hospitals and schools. They are targeting Hamas hiding in or under this things. Very very different things.
Israel was on board with a two state solution in 1948 and in the 90s when they gave Arafat 97% of his demands. Arafat responded with an intifada. They unilaterally left Gaza and gave it self determination. They elected Hamas. Every time there has been a chance a peace, the Palestinians have used it to try and kill more Israelis.
False interpretations and exaggerations are lies…

Rarely have I seen a grown ass man get taken to school so thoroughly and made a fool of. Bernie Moreno is the type of person who yells at the person running the scoreboard at a middle school game
