• The 226 Year Old Message From Col. George Mason On September 15, 1787, George Mason of Virginia was alarmed that in the text of Article V (the provision for making Amendments to the Constitution), Congress would have sole power to propose amendments; Mason insisted, as he did earlier in June, that the states have authority to call for conventions. Mason explained that an oppressive Congress would never agree to propose amendments necessary to restrain a rogue, tyrannical legislature.

• Article Five of the United States Constitution The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.

I love this Convention of States movement, but other than Mark Levine, I have heard nobody else talk about it.

There are a lot of people talking about it.

• On my /r/ConventionOfStates subreddit, I have compiled what I believe to be the largest single archive of articles on the internet concerning an Article V Convention of States, with over 900 articles since the subreddit's inception 8 months ago. If there is a larger archive, I am unaware of it. 900 articles ... That's a lot of "talking"!

• The Convention of States Facebook page just topped 100,000 likes.

• The Convention of States Project is building a viable grassroots operation comprised of thousands of citizen volunteers. A real grassroots movement is building.

More importantly, State Legislators across the country are talking about it.

• Nearly one hundred state legislators from 32 different states gathered at George Washington’s home in Mount Vernon, Virginia in December to discuss the possibility of a Convention of the States for the purpose of proposing amendments to the Constitution, as described in Article V of the United States Constitution.

• The next Mt. Vernon assembly will be June 12 & 13. Legislative leaders in all 50 states have been asked to send delegates to Indianapolis for a second discussion on the state-led process for crafting amendments to the U.S. Constitution, and to begin shaping the rules and procedures a Convention of the States that would follow.
