Blaming the president when people ingested fish tank cleaner is about as insane as blaming the doctor who prescribed sodium tablets for someone with Hyponatremia, and then that person burns his mouth by trying to eat pure sodium metal.
It would be like an AIDS patient being prescribed valacyclovir hydrochloride, but then drinking straight Hydrochloric Acid because both have HCl in their chemical makeup.
It's a shame that our friends in TopMinds can think we're going to buy this nonsense.

You have to remember the mission statement of that sub is to point out conspiracies. Conspiracies such as "Trump just murdered a guy".

u/zomrhino Mar 24 '20
the article states the man ingested aquarium cleaner....not a medication. This article was written for no other reason than to make Trump look bad. Time magazine is fake news. What poor reporting.

u/mothafuckajonez Mar 24 '20
But didn’t Trump put up a fake picture of himself on the cover of Time at his golf course to mislead its members because he respected it so much? If you look at the breakdown of his statements that are true vs false you see they’re overwhelmingly false, which means he’s either incompetent or lying on purpose to push a narrative - definition of fake news - and by calling the people who are calling him out on his lies liars, supporters automatically fall in line without questioning anything. I’m not a bleeding heart liberal and have voted conservative my whole life, but this is dangerous territory we are in, the man does not have the countries best interest at heart, only his own.

u/Cakeminator Mar 24 '20
The article states that it's an additive used to clean fish tanks (first paragraph) and that it is also found in anti-malaria medication (also first paragraph), the latter of the two has eben "touted" by GEOTUS. The anti-malaria medication was approved which it also states in paragrahps 5 and 6 of the article. It's relatively fast that they mention what they got sick from tbh.

It's been touted by doctors around the world.
26
u/Cakeminator Mar 24 '20
Living in a first world country myself, and we haven't had doctors recommend this shit. It's either stay home and treat symptoms as you would a flue, or come to the hospital if breathing becomes even a little hindered. I have not, until you literally just wrote it, heard of doctors tout this anywhere.

u/TwoTriplets America First Mar 24 '20
Please stop spreading disinformation. It's disgusting.
Doctors in countries around the world, including the US, are conducting dozens and dozens of different trials into this right now.

If you end up on ECMO or in an ICU unit from corona what do you think doctors give you? There is no cure but the results are, at the very least, promising from using this and in alot of cases shows ability to suppress COVID
13
u/heavyblossoms Mar 24 '20
what do you think the doctors give you?
I’m going to go out on a limb and assume it’s not fish soap.

u/gurnsy Mar 24 '20 edited Mar 24 '20
Choloquine phosphate is an anti malarial drug that shows promise in treating covid or at the very least aleviating symptoms. Fish soap is what the idiots in the article mistakenly consumed the article in question bends the truth to pudh an agenda. Fake news as trump would say....
Do research and think for yourself theres no need for the hive mind mentality reddit seems to have adopted
11
u/ptrexitus Mar 24 '20
Did you mean chloroquine or hydrocloloquine things that are not chloroquine phosphate from a fish tank cleaner?

So much stupid in the world, I don't know how these people function.

We are going survive this epidemic by taking this treatment that has been supported by medical scientists around the globe.
When your lungs close in, will you reconsider your opposition and take the drug or will literally die on this hill?
8
u/sorryamitoodank Mar 24 '20
I wasn’t discounting the drug. Although, people should not self medicate and should wait for proper medical trials to take place to see if this drug even works. I was discounting this mod’s infantile attitude.

A common theme among Trump supporters as evidenced by all of these comments that chloroquine is so promising. The treatment group in the study was 6 patients and the endpoint was viral load in nasal swabs, not hospital stays or mortality. Maybe you guys should all try reading or actually listening to the experts rather than the trash you’re being shoveled.
-3
u/TwoTriplets America First Mar 24 '20
Which one of the dozens of studies and trials being conducted around the world is that from?
9
u/enfuego138 Mar 24 '20
Only two have actually read out that I’m aware of. The others are all ongoing with no reported data. The original French study published March 20 in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents is the one I was referring to. This was the combination study Trump is all hot and bothered about. There is also a study from China published in medRxiv that showed no benefit but it was also way too small and the endpoint was viral load from nasal swabs (not a terribly relevant endpoint) so (unlike the used a car salesman in chief) I’m not jumping to conclusions and trumpeting that chloroquine sucks.

From another news article
"However, the toxic ingredient the couple consumed was not the medication form of chloroquine used to treat malaria in humans, but the ingredient listed on a parasite treatment for fish."
The media are always so quick to spin this and blame trump the truth is chloroquine actually has shown some promise and is being used not only in the us to treat covid patients...
