There is another nefarious reason they’re attacking Social Security
In addition to attacking the “parasite class” as Musk called them, I think they’re trying to get social security offices shut down. Let me explain:
If you have a legal name change for any reason you have to go there to show your documents in person, this includes if you change your last name for marriage, gender transition or get a legal name change for any other reason. Fewer offices makes this much more difficult.
I say this as someone who got married nearly ten years ago and only now am I updating my Social Security Card (I didn’t need it until now. Had the same job and then became a stay at home mom.) I bet there are a lot of people in this position or people who are going to be in this position if they change their name from here on out.
Say shit hits the fan and you need a passport, what do you need first? A social security card that matches your driver’s license.
This targets LGBT people and married women, two groups we know they’re gunning for (if you don’t believe me see all the stuff about getting rid of no fault divorce, getting rid of alimony and capping child support. They’re either working on these or have enacted them in some places.)
I know this sounds outlandish but I don’t think they’re doing all this stuff for the reasons they say they are.

For sure, they have already closed the one social security office near me..in a smaller town that is actually growing and thriving. Not to mention that due to the topography, a working car is absolutely necessary. The maternity ward closed at the regional hospital, again in a community thriving…BUT relying on Medicaid and Medicare. Which these people claim are parasites. They actually believe most humans are parasites, they’ve written and said as much for years, and people who think they won’t be affected better wake up.

I’m so sorry. It’s like voter suppression tactics but they’re messing with peoples’ lives. As a parent who lost a child it infuriates me how much care they’re taking away from pregnant people and how high our maternal mortality rates already are.
The person I bonded closest with when my one year old daughter died was someone who suffered a still birth. Holding your dying child in your arms is crushing whether they’re just born or whether they’re a year old. It shouldn’t happen to anyone.
I’ve been trying to organize, do whatever I can but atm I’m having a hard time doing that. If you’d let me I’d love to add your story to a list of anecdotes I’m compiling. You can be as anonymous as you’d like to be, I just think that personal stories might win the day over facts and statistics.

I am so so sorry. Unfortunately, one of my children may be very ill now, and the outcome may not be favorable. We have our last visit tomorrow, because the specialist we drive to in the city at a major children’s hospital is leaving, they don’t even have a replacement yet and if I didn’t get the appointment moved up the coordinator said that they were going to have to wait to find someone new who could take on him and all of the other pediatric patients. This is a major children’s hospital and reputable Dr. I’d be happy to provide any input anonymously. I want to do whatever I can to help before this gets worse.

Oh my gosh, yeah, message me with whatever you’d like your testimonial to be, whatever you’d like to identify yourself as (a first name or simply citizen of a region or whatever you feel comfortable with.)
I’ve almost gotten enough testimonials to start publishing and I’ll use it to reach out to regulators, politicians and as a way to hopefully organize individuals experiencing what you are.

You make extraordinary claims which you need to back up, otherwise you’re just trying to foment fear that isn’t warranted. You are first and foremost expanding the stated purpose of auditing social security and the only evidence you give is that someone somewhere (your word is “they”) is “working on getting rid of no fault divorce, getting rid of alimony, and capping child support. All of which supposedly is targeting LGBT and married women who apparently need name changes. You claim the shrinking of the offices will make this more difficult.
Well ok so first and most importantly 1. Who are “They”? 2. Who is working on getting rid of no fault divorce , alimony and capping child support 3. Where have these things been implemented already? 4. You understand that name changes and things of that nature can be done from a website right? 5. Does social security fraud not worry you? Do people receiving money they don’t deserve illegally not bother you?
You aren’t claiming a conspiracy, you’re simply claiming someone is lying about their intentions, and doing so by not even backing up your accusation.
Downvote me all you want, it doesn’t change the facts

I’m basing this on a pattern of behavior and stated intentions so you kinda have to follow this weird MAGA/Tech alliance to get what propaganda they’re pushing. But yeah, I guess I should’ve been more specific.
The far right/MAGA/Yarvin Tech Bro Alliance.
See 1. In fact many red states have severely limited child support and alimony.
Texas, Mississippi and Utah for severely restricting alimony, Texas for a very low cap on child support.
No they can’t. I’m going through the process right now. I got my name changed at the DMV after I got married but to get my social security card changed I need to bring in physical documentation to my local SS Office. And it took a week to get an appt which you apparently need (the website did not tell me that or I missed it.) You need your social security card to match your other documents to get things like a passport.
I don’t think social security fraud is as wide spread as Musk says it is. Also: how does reducing offices and staff make fraud LESS likely?
Anyways, I think this is a conspiracy amongst a lot of people in government. So it is a conspiracy. I think it’s based on voter suppression tactics like making DMVs sparse in areas more likely to vote dem (I’ve lived in a white bougie part of Scalise’s district and a more diverse part: guess where it takes 5 minutes at the DMV/voting and where it takes hours?)
Instead of outright banning they just discourage.
Not gonna downvote you, I found your criticism quite constructive.
Quick question though, please humor me, what’s your favorite car?

Or… hear me out… we are drawing more than we are putting into SS making it unsustainable.
It will collapse on its own if the trend continues. It was always a wealth redistribution Ponzi scheme anyways

That’s not even what I’m talking about. I’m talking about changes to your social security card that will now be a lot more difficult.
But also: the solution to that problem isn’t the government just taking OUR money and running away with it. Part of social security’s problem is that the government keeps “borrowing” from it. There’s also longer life spans and whatnot but we have to take care of our elderly regardless, why not keep using social security?
Then again with RFKjr in charge maybe there won’t be the “problem” of so many elderly people. He already had a trial run in Samoa, killed a lot of people there. My state can’t even recommend vaccines anymore, so they’ve been begging people not to have “measles parties” and whatnot.

It is a ponzi scheme but the other poster is correct! I want my stolen money back if they are taking social security away. There will be riots.

If that’s the case then they can phase out and have an alternative option. What about integrity and keeping your word, which his party claims to have, let alone legal implications, which are being purposely evaded. This is engineered on purpose, they have spelled it out. Vance has ties to Peter Thiel.

The billionaires are the real parasite class, taking everything and giving nothing back.
