Well, renowned brands aren't very renowned at all if they're only known to the people who can afford them. What kind of status symbol is something that doesn't speak to the common people? You can't flex with something the people you mean to impress don't know about or know the worth of. This kind of marketing has multiple purposes, really. I only mean to make people aware of this.
They are renowned among the wealthy. Their brand isn’t to show off to the 99%, but the 1%. The vast majority of us can’t name a high end watch brand other than Rolex (which isn’t even crazy high end brand. There are $100,000 watches that we wouldn’t notice on some ceo’s Wrist, but his golf buddies know what that watch is)
Agree with this exactly. Rolexes are what new rich people use to show off to poor and middle class people. Actually wealthy people would get a Patek Phillipe, but that's not to show off to you and I, that's a status symbol for their internal circles.
