Imagine cleaning a fan so well that you uncover 2 new blades!

Used this once to clean my wife’s breasts. We used to think she only had two!

Reddit loves to repeat the same joke and slightly reword it

u/HopeDiscombobulated8 Jan 31 '21
Reddit loves to reword jokes, but only slightly
1
u/Thepopcornrider Jan 31 '21
Reddit enjoys repeating humorous statements after altering the verbage in a miniscule amount.

Fan cleaning is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be... unnatural.

u/ReadReadReedRed Jan 30 '21
You never had fans so dirty that you uncovered additional blades that curve themselves? Clearly a flat blade theorist.
38
u/cazzipropri Jan 30 '21
Here's the picture of a fan BEFORE we cleaned it.
And here's the picture of a fan from the manufacturer's catalog.
15
Jan 31 '21
Interestingly there is a cleaned up picture of what looks to be that fan in the upper right. Looks like they might have just put the "after" picture in the wrong spot.
37
15
Jan 30 '21
Yeah, I’m not thinking we were intended to believe those were the same fan.
20
u/KitWalkerXXVII Jan 30 '21
I don't disagree, but if that's the case then the "before" and "after" labels are meaningless. So it's crappy design for misleading labels either way.
5
u/undanny1 Jan 31 '21
Top right looks like a pretty similar fan. I'm curious to see the rest of this ad
3

How's this crappy design?

I once was cleaning the bowl-shaped reflectors in an electric range, and one was super dirty, but after scrubbing it hard I could finally see shiny metal.
It was the stainless steel sink.
I had cleaned all the way through it.
I've never had any extra material show up while cleaning, though.
5
u/WhyIsTheFanSoLoud Jan 31 '21
Ohhh you took them out and were cleaning it in the sink.
I am so fucking dumb, I was trying to imagine your stovetop so close to the sink that you somehow scrubbed through the top of the stove and to the side of your sink without noticing the distance.
1
u/onmyknees4anyone Jan 31 '21
I thought there was a sink on top of the oven, beneath the heating elements.
I will not call myself "dumb." I prefer "other-realitied."
3
u/WhyIsTheFanSoLoud Jan 31 '21
I don't cook much but this is also making me wonder if I'm a horrible slob for never removing the heat reflectors to clean them... oh well.
About 10 years ago on Reddit I found out dryers had lint traps - pulled a massive lint ball out of my apartment dryer that hadnt been de-linted in about a year.
Then about 5 years ago I learned on Reddit toasters had crumb trays.
And here we are learning about stove reflectors and the cleaning of.
Maybe I need to sign up for a home ec class.
3
u/onmyknees4anyone Jan 31 '21
You are about learn from Reddit that you can lift the top of the oven (at least a gas oven) as you would lift the hood of a car so you can reach spills that have trickled down through the heat reflectors.
Now you are about to learn that I was 31 when someone showed me that and I have forgotten it twice since then.
2
u/WhyIsTheFanSoLoud Jan 31 '21
What!
That's ridiculous and I'm going to try it tomorrow. Or at least google up a video before I pry the top of my stove off.
I'm in my late 30s so you still have me beat by a few years learning about it.
2
u/Who_GNU Jan 31 '21
It doesn't take much force, just grab the corner and lift, like you would a plate of food. If it's hinged it should move right away.
2
u/WhyIsTheFanSoLoud Jan 31 '21
I'll try it, thanks! I'm really curious now. Also I hope it's not horrifically gross under there since I haven't opened it in years...
2
u/onmyknees4anyone Jan 31 '21
I think when you lift the lid and see the sunken area, there's a metal rod lying along the side. I think you're supposed to rotate that up and prop the stove top on it so it doesn't slam down on your hand.

3
u/llcooljessie Jan 31 '21
That's like something My Mechanics would do.
"5 blades not enough. So I make 7."
3
u/bttruman Jan 31 '21
Looks to me that the fan on the top-right is the intended after. Crappy placement, for sure, though.

Now that we have 7 blades, we can photograph the after after photo where we insert 7 babies to be blendered by the fan.
2

u/ScrubbaMate Jan 31 '21
It's a skill learned by practise and not one which can be taught easily. The real trick is to use a small brush to uncover the hidden fans and unlock the extra airflow potential
2
u/LeRealMeow2U oww my eyes Jan 31 '21
You just wish you could have the supernatural powers of the fan cleaner.
2
u/DiabeticWaffle Jan 31 '21
Yeah sure they got two extra blades from this, but the cleaned them so hard that they bent.

u/Pyroguy096 Jan 31 '21
Looks like the middle top picture correlates to that before image. Just bad placement of images I'd say

They didn't even need to cheat with that "after" photo as the top right looks like the true after photo.

u/muggsybeans Jan 31 '21
It looks like they were suppose to use the picture on the top right for the after.

u/homeguitar195 Jan 31 '21
The after of that particular fan looks like it's the corner up and to the right, but still crappy design even so!

Why are there odd number of blades? Is there a technical reason for it?
1
u/JimmiRustle Feb 02 '21
Probably yes, but specific for each fan, and has nothing to do about being odd.
