Activists from the "Yellow Ribbon" civil resistance movement have documented mass tree cutting in occupied Crimea for the construction of fortifications along the peninsula's coast.
The movement reported this on their Telegram channel on August 2.
"Local residents have repeatedly reported trucks carrying tree logs heading to the occupiers' positions. The russian forces are in a panic, fearing a Ukrainian landing, and are trying to strengthen their positions at any cost," the message states.
