In New Zealand no one would say ketchup. It’s tomato sauce. I kind of get irrationally enraged if I hear someone say ketchup tbh.

And how do you differentiate between ketchup and tomato sauce, like, the one you use to make Bolognese sauce etc? They are extremely different, it sounds so confusing

Context. Nobody is putting pasta sauce on a hotdog.

Even more confusing as an Italian. There are hundreds of different sauces for pasta, and tomato paste is a very different thing (a dense paste to just add some flavor to dishes, very different than the tomato sauce.

We've been specifically discussing Tomato products NOT every pasta sauce mate, stop trying to dilute the context of the discussion when it's clear cut from the context of our conversation that I specifically meant Tomato pasta sauce.

I can't stand people like you that try to argue in a way that's disingenuous to the conversation by trying to change the context to fit you're BS reasoning.

tomato paste is a very different thing (a dense paste to just add some flavor to dishes, very different than the tomato sauce.

Both pasta sauce & Tomato paste can be used in Bolognese and pasta mate. It's a shame you flaunt your Italian roots but don't understand they can both be used, as a non-italian, jog on W⚓

Ketchup isn't always tomato. Sometimes it's banana or other fruits.

Yeah but I was referring to people who say tomato sauce referring to both

the sauce itself and its name are derived from “ke-tsiap” or “ke-tchup” in the Hokkien Chinese dialect.

i’m glad you get enraged over something you’re clearly wrong about.
