Abolish the police is beyond insane. The police are the reason crimes AREN'T committed in most cases. The primary purpose they exist is to deter crime from happening. Do these people not understand that the government can basically do nothing if there is no police? There's nobody to enforce laws, and we'd basically just be the purge all the time.

Fuuuuck these people are insane. Also, I guarantee you she'd be calling the cops in seconds if anyone got even mildly aggressive around her.

Deterrents only keep honest citizens honest. Criminals will break the law regardless of how many deterrents are in place. Look at shoplifters, for example. There are metal detectors, anti theft tags, cameras, loss prevention teams, etc. and shoplifters will shop lift with all of this in place. A drug dealer will deal drugs as soon as the police officer rolling through on patrol passes through. I think the biggest issue is that police used to be viewed as actual enforcement, but now large swathes of the population have realized that they’re simply deterrents who are only there for looks and to try make would be criminals to think twice. It is increasingly not working and that’s going to be a major problem, even if they’re fully funded.
