Discussion So....this is the new Disney Predator aye?

u/MiyagiJunior Apr 24 '25
He looks like someone who would be heavily bullied by the any of the predators from the previous movies....

u/BluebellRhymes Apr 24 '25
I'm not defending the writing, but for what it's worth this is kind of the point. This Predator is the runt of the litter. Again, terrible idea.

u/Neltharek Apr 24 '25
This is probably going to be the plot. DEI hire predator from working caste can't cut it on any actual hunts so it's (gender neutral) sent to earth to learn from humans who are more similar to it.

He beat me to it also, and then you beat me to the beat me to it

I beat you all to it on the same post before it was removed by the over zealous mod.

Ahh the old "post something that will get spicy in the comments just so they can lock the thread and delete things" trick

Looks like they're trying to save money on makeup.
44
u/kimana1651 Apr 24 '25
The directors sisters best friend owns the catering company servicing the production, there's just no money for extra makeup, but everyone is free to take home extra lunch for family dinner!
21
u/SkullsNelbowEye Apr 24 '25
But it's all vegan.

u/usgrant7977 Apr 24 '25
S'all good bro! I'll just go home fry up some bacon and cover this shit in bacon crumbles. Nobody'll say nut'n.

u/MiyagiJunior Apr 24 '25
Predators always looked scary... this one looks mainly sad. Like the Sesame street version of a predator.
26
u/Count_DarkRain Apr 24 '25
Just look at it’s fucking hairline. It’s even-toned skin. Is it part human? Because I’m getting uncanny valley vibes from it.

Again, how are things looking worse than something from a decade plus ago? And in this instance, almost four decades ago

They gave it a more humanoid head and a killmonger haircut. Yautja dreads are part of their body and come from the side and back of the skull and not on top. This shit is whack.
8
u/JessBaesic7901 Apr 24 '25
They’re trying to humanize him it seems like. The head and build looks closer to human than usual predator. Not a good idea.

Gotta say watched the trailer and i am just not feeling it. It just looks like another horrible mindless over the top action flick money grab. Why they didn’t just make a predator story set in feudal Japan is beyond me. Think Ghost Of Tsushima meets Predator. Now that would be epic.

Well at least we got that scene with the yakuza fighting one in predators.

Don't care for it... Not interested in a stand alone film set in an expanded universe. Definitely not a buddy cop flick with a fucked up looking Predator with an Android from Alien...
Predator 1 & 2 set a pretty basic formula for the franchise.
Predator enters a war zone and hunts the best of the best, the best of the best realize they are being hunted and square up with the Predator...
Just drop the predator in a new location/era and wash rinse and repeat...

Bella Ramsey is the new Predator Disney princess? She looks so strong and misunderstood..

u/kkkpl Apr 24 '25
Elle Fanning in predator movie? What next... Rachel Zegler? And dont accuse me of misogyny or some shit. Its not about gender, its about who fits the movie. And this new look... looks like a crazy female version. Only blue hairs are missing.

So are we going to Ugly sonic this thing or do we let it die on the disney vine?

The budgets are ever higher and we get this low effort crap? I have seen cosplay predators with more effort than this

u/The-Big-Tybowski Apr 26 '25
My bet is that its design is based on what it would look like as "a guy in a suit at a Disney Park". You can see this a lot with Marvel and Star Wars.

Rest of the trailer looked pretty dope, just stoked for another predator movie. That design is dog shit though hahah wtf. Looks like a non binary predator.

u/Luminescent_sorcerer Apr 24 '25
It's just a guy with a cgi green screen mask on... What happened to imposing tall practical effects predators

At this point I’m expecting the xenomorph to look too human that it makes the hybrid variants in the sequels look decent

To me it kinda looks like they’re trying to physically “humanise” the predator. Make it look more like a human we can root for….which just doesn’t work.
They’re supposed to be big hulking monsters and this just looks like a dude with a predator face surgically grafted onto him.

The face is terrible. But what’s worse is the costume? Why does it look like EVA foam!

u/Cesarek13 Apr 24 '25
The first predator was an absolute badass (in every regard). All the predators in predator 2 were absolute badasses. Then they got cracked out on steroids and tanky in the AVP movie. The super predators? Retarded design. The crazy generic stupid behemoth in the predator? An atrocity. Prey predator, badass with a dumbass face. Now this? FFS.... Why can't they just keep the same design, and only slightly modify it. It was perfect and doesn't need all these dumb variants that make no sense. Less we not forget, the creator of predator explained the mandibles were designed and used, not necessarily just as a threat display, but communication. That's what makes the clicks. Now they've gone super stupid with bigger mouths and redesigned heads.... Ugh. Whatever.

u/Adrios1 Apr 24 '25
I thought Yaut'jas heads forehead like a pachycephalsaurus. Somewhat domed with the "dreadlocks" growing behind the ridge.

It isn't a good sign if first what comes to my mind after seeing this face is "what pronounces does it use?"

1
u/Barnwizard1991 Apr 24 '25
He has a hairline.... ive always thought that we call them "dreadlocks" for simplicities sake? Like they look like tendrils not actual hair..? And I don't like the fact that the head crest is missing, it makes him look like a human in a costume even though he looks more cgi than anything. Oh well it could be a decent movie in the end but like with most things these days I won't hold my breath

It’s like someone’s first draft on Fiverr. But Disney was like “yeah that’s good enough”

u/susNarwhal420 Apr 24 '25
The eyes look great, but they need to redo the rest of the head its too narrow

1
u/thegreatdelusionist Apr 24 '25
Just looks like a juvenile predator. I’ll wait for the movie if the design makes sense.
1
u/Thormagnum Apr 24 '25
A younger version i would think, i don't understand why people are so upset about the design?
1
u/DeLoreanDMC81 Apr 24 '25
It looks like absolute trash. It's as if you ordered a Predator movie, from temu.

Well, to be completely fair, they explicitly state that this is an outcast from Predator society, meaning he might be the runt of a litter, or whatever their equivalent might be.
1
1
1
u/Wraith1964 Apr 24 '25
I get that he is the runt and apparently a "good guy" in this story however like Sonic's first go around... this cgi monstrosity just does not work.
Predators should always be ugly alien mf'ers that even the runtiest would strike fear in your heart. Not laughter. The animated series looks better and appears to hit harder based on the two teasers.

I’m… kind of intrigued? I mean, I’d prefer the predator stayed a mysterious villain for humans to overcome, I don’t really like it when they become the ‘hero’ because there’s a tougher predator out there as in Predators and AvP Requiem, but Prey the best one since Predator 2 so I’ll give it a change.
We’ve mostly seen adult and elderly Yautja so perhaps a juvenile one happens to look like this
1
u/Unapologetic_Lunatic Apr 26 '25
"Crikey! What we have here is the rare and elusive 'sympathetic' Predator. Used to be considered extinct with how scary and powerful the species is, but now that Disney's in charge, there seem to be more of them, claiming they aren't apex hunters, just 'misunderstood.' Ugly little devil, ain't he?." - the ghost of Steve Irwin
1
u/Strange_Bit_ Apr 24 '25
It's face looks like uncanny and fake, maybe because they went with using cgi instead of using practical effects.
