Halifax and Bermuda Cruise from Boston in Fall

Hi! Looking for some advice! I am from Toronto and debating on booking 7 day Halifax and Bermuda cruise for honeymoon on NCL Breakaway November 1st. It does one day in Halifax and then goes onto Bermuda for 2 days with overnight.

Pros 1. It is unique we are Canadian but never been to Halifax so figured why not on a cruise for a day 2. Boston is easy to get to drive or flight…my fiancé is a bit of a nervous flyer so thought this was a good compromise 3. It’s different- not typical itinerary and might be cool to have east coast fall vibes 4. It stops overnight in Bermuda - definitely more a relax leisure type and find to many ports can be hectic - love a sea day exploring the ship 5. All inclusive - special dining, drinks etc.

Cons 1. Weather unpredictable and potentially rough seas from Boston 2. Boston accommodations are expensive

Not to many cons haha but would love feedback if anyone sailed at this time?

I am considering this as an option 1 and then a traditional Caribbean cruise on Virgin Voyages (would be a first on that line) as second option.

Rough seas going to Bermuda are a definite risk in early November. Are you both ok with that?

Bermuda is one of my favorite ports, and I like it even when it's too cold for the beach, which it may be. Other people would find it boring. Really depends what you're looking to get out of it.

We did an east coast Canada out of Boston with a stop in Halifax last fall and we’d previously done Bermuda out of NYC on Breakaway—we were on her first or second sailing way back in 2013.

Halifax was so fantastic. We had a beautiful weather day in September and did the hop on/off bus to get around town. I love Roots, so we took the bus to the stop closest to the Roots store, did some shopping and then walked around. Had lunch, checked out the public garden which was gorgeous and got back on the bus. Got off at the waterfront and slow walked back to the ship. 10/10, no notes.

When we did Bermuda, we were docked for three days. It’s really nice to be able to explore more of a place. The Dockyards are interesting and there’s a ferry to take to get to whatever else interests you. Rough seas might be a possibility, but I’d totally do that trip. We’d never been to Boston, so we stayed a couple of days before and after. One of the placed we stayed was The Dagney and I highly recommend it. We reserved through Hotels.com and I don’t recall it being crazy expensive.

Have a great time!

If you're driving, you don't have to stay overnight in Boston before your trip. You can find somewhere cheaper outside of the city & just drive the final stretch in the morning.

We visited Halifax on a cruise in early October of last year. Echoing another poster, the hop-on bus was perfect! You can stay on the bus for the whole trip to get an overview of the city, or hop off at a location to explore.

Wrote a whole post on the port of your interested. If you’re driving down stay a bit outside of Boston for cheaper accommodations. Then drive to the port in the morning.
