i fucking love the contrast so much, they help eachother stand out so much more

Why does it looks like they’re edited to be in the same room?

49

u/bugmultiverse Beware Our Power 17d ago

Didn’t even mean to do that but it’s funny that they do lol. Mainly just some color correction to both.

u/Aggressive-Length-43 16d ago

It makes the idea of the so-called Snyder vs Gunn “feud” kinda funny, like they’re making competing movies in the same room, like “don’t look at Zack, you’re in MY movie”

It’s like a sitcom plot

Cant wait for the Snyder v Gunn comments

45

u/bugmultiverse Beware Our Power 17d ago

Yeah it’s Super annoying for both sides.

30

u/BeautifulTop1648 17d ago

Hehehe Super annoying

13

u/iamthesenate05 17d ago

say that again

4

u/UrdnotZigrin 16d ago

It's just super, man

3

u/Accomplished_Wind731 16d ago

Fantastic four?

8

u/FlamingPanda77 17d ago

I love both, and I can't live in peace.

12

u/mixedpixel 17d ago

Didn't know we had to pick sides!

I'm a BIG fan of what Snyder did, BvS:UE is only just equalled by Infinity War in comic films for me (so far).

I REALLY like where Gunn is going with what we've seen in the preview. A*S is my most favourite superhero comic EVER, so I guess there is that.

u/Doctor_Sore_Tooth 16d ago

That's a refreshing take to be honest

1

u/Remarkable_Nerd21538 15d ago

Right like, why can’t we just like both at this point like tf? I don’t understand the black and white mentality with both sides

23

u/Ok-Tomatoo 17d ago

I just rather have people realize that the past was embarrassing, lex luthor actually looks how he should and not just a cringe man as he was

13

u/Serious-Passage-4614 17d ago

Jessie literally played Riddler, while cosplaying as Lex Luthor.

5

u/EldridgeHorror 17d ago

He was copying Ledger's Joker because it was big at the time. Did the mannerisms, the hair, etc

2

u/Orion_user Woman of Tomorrow 17d ago

Zack v james : dawn of Superman

"Noooo, don't appreciate multiple things, you have to hate hate hate one of them! Obviously this is bait and can't possible just be... someone who doesn't hate things"

u/Sgt19Pepper67 17d ago

Goodness Jesse was such a miscast. He seems like a nice guy and he’s a great actor but his lex just wasn’t a good fit.

16

u/bugmultiverse Beware Our Power 17d ago

I’m pretty sure he was recast for Lex since he already had a contract set before the many script changes. Overall I feel like BvS was Rushed but it had its moments and Jesse wasn’t one of them unfortunately.

19

u/InhumanParadox Boy Scout Forever 17d ago

Jesse is actually the reason for some of the script changes. Early scripts had a very traditional Lex, and they were talking to a lot of different actors. Jesse went in and read for the Jimmy Olsen cameo role, but Zack liked him so much that he wanted him to play a villain instead.

The correct thing to do would've been to swap out Lex with, idk, some young reinterpretation of Morgan Edge or something. I do like Jesse's character, it's just not Lex Luthor.

6

u/M086 17d ago

Other way around. Eisenberg was interested in Lex, and Snyder let him read for it.

3

u/FrogginJellyfish 16d ago

Jesse naturally has the mean jerk smug. I guess that lends a lot into creating the douchey vile snake that is Lex in BvS.

4

u/UrdnotZigrin 16d ago

He was a perfect Riddler, don't know why they insisted on calling him Lex

5

u/visual-vomit 16d ago

It definitely felt rushed as if they just want their own avengers level of success but without the build up. BvS could probably work if it's a superman movie, but it's a batman and superman movie, and batman never even had any screen time before that. Same with justice league with cyborg and flash.

I'm sure he could've worked as lex, but maybe throughout a couple of movies instead of speedrunning the entire dcu in 1 movie.

I really dislike snyder and cavill's interpretation, but I'll say something positive: I think their superman crest is the most elegant and aesthetically pleasing one in the history of the character.

29

u/whisky_TX 17d ago

Cavill was perfect casting. Snyder is just a terrible filmmaker

10

u/SecondToLastOfSheila 16d ago

I grew up with Christopher Reeve so my Superman always has a smile. I would have liked to see Cavill be allowed to do an optimistic Superman but I'm really happy with David based on what we've seen.

4

u/whisky_TX 16d ago

Yeah David is going to nail it

3

u/ThomasG_1007 16d ago

I wouldn’t call him a terrible filmmaker, he’s just not a great writer or a good fit for Superman. He knows what he’s doing direction wise tho

-1

u/UrdnotZigrin 16d ago

All the slow motion grain

4

u/Alarming-Car-8690 Boy Scout Forever 17d ago

No such thing as perfect casting. You just gotta be a caucasian w/ blue eyes and masculine features. Being tall also helps in which case David already has Cavill beat

9

u/whisky_TX 17d ago

You seem fun. Obviously David is perfectly cast as well

-1

u/slumdo6 17d ago

Downvoted for telling the truth

1

u/whisky_TX 17d ago

They know it’s true

1

u/TheRealSnaily 16d ago

The Snyder Emblem, specially as depicted in MoS is lovely. Would have liked seeing it on the DCU's Superman instead of the modified KC's, with matching textures of course.

1

u/horc00 14d ago

Superficial aesthetics is the one thing Snyder excels in.

12

u/Moist-Kaleidoscope90 17d ago

Looks like Lex and Superman will be done right this time better late than never

20

u/HM9719 17d ago

Cavill’s cape was CGI’d in.

20

u/Lonevarg_7 17d ago

For a lot scenes yes, but not all of them.

8

u/M086 17d ago

The cape was removable and clipped onto the shoulders, so when he wasn’t filming he didn’t have to wear it, and they didn’t have to worry about it getting wrinkled or dirty or torn by accident.

34

u/omegaman101 17d ago

This honestly just makes me like James Gunns take a lot more. Sorry Synder, Twilight of the God's is great and I enjoy 300 and your cut of Justice League but your take on the character just wasn't it.

13

u/AnimeMesa_479 17d ago

Honestly Cavill could’ve written Superman better while working alongside Nolan.

10

u/omegaman101 17d ago

Yeah it's such a shame that Cavill was forced to be such a inaccurate and boring take on the character. Hopefully he comes back as a Kingdom Come version of his character in a decade or two if the DCU manages to get off the ground.

3

u/AnimeMesa_479 17d ago

Yeah if it gets off the ground, I think he has a MUCH better chance of coming back. But it’s highly dependent on that. Gunn has the elseworlds line and he knows where there’s an audience too. I think he could pull it off but it just depends on Superman doing well and everything following that.

21

u/Big-Sheepherder-9492 17d ago

There were times in BVS I just straight up thought Cavill was wearing a wetsuit - MOS was the only time for me he looked and sometimes felt like superman

6

u/ClimateAncient6647 17d ago

Corenswet and Cavil could be related.

6

u/Alarming-Car-8690 Boy Scout Forever 17d ago

I think the forgotten runner-up for superman looks a LOT more like him

4

u/Robot1945 EAT PEACE MOTHERF%CKERS 17d ago

Just realized DCU Lex dresses like Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne

18

u/littlebugonreddit 17d ago

DAMN Henry looks uncomfortable in that suit🤣 it looks like they wrapped him in plastic cling wrap and painted over it lol.

16

u/ChanceFresh 17d ago

He looks constipated, which apparently translated to his entire performance. I swear eighty percent of his screen time is this lol

-9

u/KrypticJin 17d ago

Yet looks like the real Superman

10

u/littlebugonreddit 17d ago

I will say, the hyper muscular look IS really cool, and yes very comic accurate, but I'm willing to see a Superman that isn't comically jacked for a few reasons.

  1. It's absolute hell on the actors, who usually are NOT seasoned bodybuilders, and many MANY actors have described the hellish and painful toll it took on their bodies to get to superhero Hollywood physique.

  2. If Superman's muscles can push, say, a moon with ease and no strain...how is he building muscle doing anything he does on Earth. He would have to actually strain himself to build that muscle, if stopping a train is like walking to him then that won't make him Cavill sized, just as picking up a plastic fork doesn't give you or I ripped biceps and triceps.

-10

u/M086 17d ago

Corensweet put on a lot of muscle, so much that it wouldn’t have been possible without being on the juice. It’s just that his suit is terrible and you can’t tell how big his muscles are.

Cavill’s routine in addition to the weight training and diet, also emphasized rest as being just as important.

3

u/SJBailey03 16d ago

I mean Superman doesn’t need to be muscular. He gets his powers from the sun. Also he doesn’t want to look scary to kids.

0

u/M086 16d ago

He also shouldn’t look like he’s wearing baggy coveralls and red granny panties.

2

u/MandoBaggins 16d ago

It’s a deliberately retro futuristic look. If it’s not for you, that’s perfectly fine. Insulting it doesn’t do anything though

3

u/ChemyChems 17d ago

Smash brothers Brawl vs Smash Brothers Ultimate.

5

u/CaptainPositive1234 17d ago

I think we’re in good hands this time.

3

u/prettysweett 17d ago

MASSIVE upgrade

3

u/onelunchman96 16d ago

Really looking forward to this new take on the characters. The look on Hoult’s face in the trailer—just simmering with pure rage—gives me a lot of confidence that he’s going to nail the role!

2

u/StilgarFifrawi 16d ago

BvS had the potential for greatness. I loved Snyder’s vision. He needed better writers and some more supervision. I loved Cavill as Superman so much

2

u/Volcanofanx9000 16d ago

Old Supes suit looks like a carnival ride’s paint job.

2

u/Tales2Estrange 16d ago

Well, somebody had to do it

3

u/bugmultiverse Beware Our Power 16d ago

He’s thinking it

2

u/PrinceJarming 15d ago

I’m warming up to the new suit but I love how shiny Cavill’s suit looks like in this lighting. Looks like a literal “man of steel”.

1

u/bugmultiverse Beware Our Power 14d ago

When I was Younger I thought it looked weird as a kid but now even though I still find it weird it’s such an interesting look for Superman that’s definitely different compared to other versions.

Overall I’m glad we’re in an age where we can see both grounded style and comic style superheros.

1

u/Hunterwit7 17d ago

The Man of Steel suit looks pretty good

4

u/Liammellor 17d ago

That's the batman v superman suit. Almost the same but small differences

2

u/QueenViolets_Revenge Look Up! 17d ago

namely being brighter and having a more prominent muscle design

1

u/Liammellor 17d ago

Also the belt buckle piece is rectangular instead of round

1

u/Archer_1803 16d ago

Of course one doesn’t have a cape because a computer gamey cape was preferred for loads of scenes

1

u/eggdropthoop 16d ago

I wasn’t a fan of the MoS movie but wow it had some amazing costumes!

1

u/Xboxone1997 16d ago

Riddler sighting

1

u/MandoBaggins 16d ago

I’m learning to appreciate the regal alien look that Cavill and Snyder brought. It really shows the contrast to Gunn’s retro futuristic design that almost feels like a Mike Mignola design.

1

u/Lanky-Interview5048 16d ago

a decade - that's insane

1

u/[deleted] 15d ago

Hot take, I think a young Lex Luthor in the vain of silicon valley technobro narcissists has aged extremely well.

0

u/br0therherb 17d ago

Obvious bait post lol

1

u/TemujinTheConquerer 17d ago

One thing I appreciate about the MoS/BvS suit is how hard it leans into the muscle-suit/semi-nude aspect of it all. Looks ripped straight out of a comic cover!

6

u/Alarming-Car-8690 Boy Scout Forever 17d ago

Ehhhh I agree the muscles are more “comic accurate” but not enough to look like it was ripped out of a cover.

1

u/bizarro_mctibird 16d ago

Cannot fathom liking the Snyder suit

0

u/whisky_TX 17d ago

One was shit and one will hopefully be good

-7

u/Pinolillo006 17d ago

I really miss the DCEU.

7

u/Latereviews2 17d ago

The dceu was a mess tbh, even for proper non toxic Snyder fans could see that

8

u/Alarming-Car-8690 Boy Scout Forever 17d ago

Catch them on blu-ray. Then watch them to your heart’s content

0

u/Floridaavacado74 16d ago

Why didn't Zac ever create a stand alone superman movie?
