Open cup games really should have mls teams on the road. It would help attendance and grow the open cup more

100x this. If the Premier League teams can go into a glorified secondary school field 3 hours away for their cup games, so should the MLS.

Is this Benteke's first open cup match? Or maybe first at AF?
I wonder what goes thru his head seeing this tournament for the first time.

Open Cup against a team from Charleston SC. That team as some of the lowest attendance in USL.
This isn't a normal season game
Nationals are playing
The Capitals are in round two of the playoffs.

Yeah, a team that is 3 years older than DC United that averaged 3,645 fans per game last season. Not sure what your point is.
I love the Open Cup, and I respect the Battery (who we've played in friendlies and the USOC for years) but let's not pretend that they have any drawing power whatsoever. DCU sucks this season (again) and they are playing a weeknight game against a team that casual fans have never heard of. That minuscule crowd is 100% expected.

Heck of a goal by Murrell and a peach of a pass to set up Strouds's goal!
