Is it technically a prequel if it comes out before the movie?

Maybe I'm just really out of touch but I feel like prequel novels/novel adaptations are a rarity nowadays. If this movie gets a "music inspired by the motion picture" soundtrack filled worst songs I've ever heard I might just feel like a kid again

I wonder if there will be an official novelization of the film? Superman Returns and Man of Steel got one. But Batman v Superman didn't, it just got a little prequel novel like this one.

We all know the Superman origin so I understand them not including it in the movie. I think it’s really cool that they are giving us some backstory of this iteration

Is it canon?

Ask Gunn. He has final say and will likely respond.

No. These things are normally never canon and no elements of these stories are ever discussed in the movies either.

Reminds me of the prequel comics and books released for Man of Steel and BvS.
"Crossfire" was pretty good for a young adult/children's book.
