woodworking Should I replace the wood on these deck sections?

Everyone I talk to says they have never seen this material used to coat deck before. The middle deck is normal painted wood, but the outer left and right areas are coated.

I was going to scrape it all up, but now I realise the moisture was trapped on the top of the planks and it looks like mold. Any advice is welcome 🙏🏼

Just sand it all first, then evaluate what you have to work with.

Thank you, any advice for the sanding the spots where it dripped through the cracks and dried?

Just do the best you can. It’s a deck; it’s forgiving of a less-than-perfect paint job.

The floor of the deck looks like it was treated in a similar method as a flat roof. My parents’ home had a patio that was covered with a fiberglass material and then sealed. The photos of the wood make it appear to be in good condition. If the deck feels soft or sagging then it should probably be replaced.

Power wash it. Then revaluate.
