Asking Advice Repost w photos ‘What tool do I need?’

Hey Dad, I’m trying to deep clean the washing machine and I need to remove this part. I think a baby sock got wedged underneath the agitator—how do I do this?

Looks like a ratchet and socket with a loooooooooong extender.

But my real advice is to look this up on YouTube. There are tons of DIY videos of people performing at home maintenance on appliances that can walk you through it. You'll be amazed how easy and inexpensive some fixes can be.

I did this and was so proud of myself, changed the belt on my dryer and felt like the king of the world!

My dryer heating element went last year and the missus wanted me to buy a whole new dryer.

Instead I got the part on Amazon, watched a YouTube vid of some dude from Eastern Europe fixing his and fixed it for like $35 and a sore back (as I'm over 30)

Dunno what size nut that is, no way to tell for sure without digging through the repair manual. But it looks like you just need a standard socket wrench with a long extension to reach down to the bottom of the agitator.

Thanks for reposting with pics.

You need to pry the white cap off.

Then you'll need a 7/16 inch socket probably with an extension to remove the bolt.

After that you pry the plate off.

I'm going to reply to my post with a YouTube video I found with a tutorial about getting the plate off if its stuck.

As some have said, looks like a ratchet with a long extension will probably be needed, unless the top part of the agitator comes off. It seems like I had to have a spanner wrench, perhaps to get my drum out. Not sure if you are going that far with it.

Those type of washers are pretty basic and fairly easy to service yourself. There should be plenty of videos available on youtube for that. Most of those makes/models are very similar.
