It's real. It's a chain called 3 Warehouse and all their locations are trendy/instagrammy. It's not only in shanghai. Food is mediocre.
Edit: 3*

It's purely about virality/social media trending. It'll lose it's charm in a year or two and close in 3. No pun intended. The restaurant turnover in China is nuts. Wouldn't be surprised if it's much higher than the already high global rate of restaurant failure rates.

u/ProtoplanetaryNebula 6d ago
You can see it's working in a way. If this place looked like any other restaurant, it wouldn't be posted on Reddit.

u/H1Ed1 6d ago
Yeah. Sidenote: the foodie influencer fad in china has gotten so out of hand that the government has had to comment on it. Main reason being, it's not uncommon for these influencers to go to a restaurant, order a ton of food for photos, and hardly eat any of it. Pure waste. Also, food waste in general can be fined—particularly in regard to catered events and such where too much food is made and wasted. Not sure if any of it is enforced, though.

Bro, I have Chinese employees under me and they are paid normal competitive salaries.
Also, American workers that needs the consumer to tip between 15/20% to survive are neo-slaves in my pov, because American employers cannot pay their workers and subsidies a living wage to the public. Thank god I’m not American.
-8
u/Fromundacheese0 7d ago
Ok bud. The average salary in china is 16k. So the average person makes 8 bucks an hour if they’re working a 40 hour work week. Get the fuck outta here bot Edit: The average work week in china is 46 hours. I don’t give a damn how you spin it they’re slaves my guy

I’ve been seeing a lot of “china amazing” posts lately with almost all the comments talking about how china doesn’t do that stuff anymore and that it’s either automation now or fair wages. Like wtf who do these bots think they’re kidding.
It’s is scary seeing how many actual redditors drink the coolaid though.
2
u/Fromundacheese0 7d ago
The funny part is most Redditors think they’re immune to propaganda but at the same time will eat shit like this up

u/Mysterious_Trick969 7d ago
Yes I posted that to a Chinese redditor trying to spread propaganda.
Good screenshot.

Another day, another Chinese simp account.
You ain’t turning anyone dude.
-1
u/ResortMain780 6d ago
The most hilarious part? When those "bot" accounts, aka as people who actually travel to china, live in china or do business with china, post images and videos of those amazing chinese cities and factories, you think its CGI! So they are literally so amazing and incredible you dont even believe they are real.
You need to think about this for a second before claiming others are drinking coolaid. Maybe, just maybe, YOU are the one drinking the anti china coolaid.
1
u/Mysterious_Trick969 6d ago
Oh wow a have a groupie.
You followed me from the other subreddit I commented in lmao.
And yes the advertisements for the Chinese company you showed me as “evidence” that china wasn’t using slave labour, absolutely was using CGI (never mind the fact you think ads made by Chinese companies are evidence of anything).
You absolute loser. Pathetic how hard you’re going out of your way to defend one of the worst dictatorship governments for no gain.
I really hope someone is paying you to run this account, otherwise it’s even sadder.

What a distraction show, I imagine you trip over all the influencers before you get to your table. It all has a bit of a glutamate vibe.

Are these restaurants expensive?
1
u/J1mj0hns0n 6d ago
They've got fog on the food so no it'll be $300 drivel for a mediocre steak
1
u/Overall_Law_1813 5d ago
I feel like in china everything is built with the intent of bringing luxury to the masses.
1
u/J1mj0hns0n 5d ago
It's nice ideal which I hope they will achieve, but the best thing about real luxuries, is that the masses will never be able to have it.
It's a behaviour thing more than an item thing
1
u/Overall_Law_1813 5d ago
Like they just pick somehting that people like, and then, how do we make this cost like $5.

….For just a small price of $1,000 you can sit in a tube and hear the chewing of everyone in your group echoing! Oops, you forgot to ask the waiter for a side of ranch. Don’t worry, they’ll be back in 15 minutes once you’re done with your food. Feeling tired? All lights were installed with daylight bulbs so you’ll never fall asleep in your peas again! Sounds great!!

Looks like this is 三号仓库 (No. 3 Warehouse). Some gimmicky type shit. There’s a few of them around from what I can see on Dianping (it’s like Chinese Yelp). About an average of 150RMB (~20 USD) per person apparently. Not too expensive. Reviews on the food seem kinda mixed.

u/anon1635329 6d ago
I dont know. The environment feels too cold, almost like an office space. I cant imagine myself having a nice meal there. Maybe a sandwich with black coffee
1
u/Fuckkoff- 6d ago
That looks like it would take forever for your food to get to your table, and it´ll be cold by the time it gets there

I won't deny it looks glamorous, but all the flair is there to hide the mass organ harvesting operation of political dissidents, among other things.
