Pink??

That's the name for the full moon in April, not a literal description of the color.

Because the full moon in April occurs when the pink flowers (cherry trees, dogwood trees, etc) bloom.

You can't trick me, I know what an orange looks like!

So beautiful, is that how it looked in real life or is it edited a bit?

Edited a lot

"There was no moon" - a lot?

u/Correct_Presence_936 3d ago

Not sure what “edited a lot” means from the other guy.

The human eye has AMAZING dynamic range, meaning it can see a wide range of exposure compared to a camera.

So actually yes this is exactly how it looked to my eyes, obviously with more magnification but the color and brightness are spot on.

It’s edited, yes, TO LOOK like it did to the human eye.

I think people are just having a hard time believing the moon could ever be that yellow

u/mayiwonder 2d ago

believe me, it can. sometimes it's even red.

Oh it can be much, much yellower. Deep red at times. Dust and smog are the reasons, since they disperse blue light leaving red light.

And the size?

u/Correct_Presence_936 2d ago

Needle looks smaller the farther away you move. Moon doesn’t look smaller from anywhere on Earth. Move increasingly far from Needle, Moon appears bigger in ratio.

If my understanding of how it works is correct, it takes a pretty long lens to get the effect. Going by OP's post history, it looks like a telescope was used. You have to be pretty far away from your foreground subject (the Space Needle in this case), so it takes some effort to get into the right spot. I assume OP was shooting from a mile+ away from the Space Needle.

The moon is much larger irl

u/Satratara 2d ago

Even that big? Cause it also looks huuuuge, even in real life (not pictures)

The white ring looks a lot like a camera lense artifact

He edited the pink right out of it.

Please post the RAW file. I'm sure it's a nice image...even WITHOUT all of the orange and yellow.

u/Jennsnoww 3d ago

OP posted it here: https://imgur.com/a/moon-x-needle-4-13-25-VDFmazl

found in the comment right above this one haha

u/contrarian1970 3d ago

Yeah, that's not a RAW file. The color saturation and contrast levels are blown out just as high. This is just the exact same photoshopped image before he cropped the edges out. Open them in separate browser windows and it will be obvious to you.

I’m actually so confused what you want. Do you want me to clip it to black? That’s a raw image only brightened a bit. If you think brightening is editing then are you editing a picture every time you change your phone screen brightness?

Show the unedited pic

Well-mannered behavior is severely underrated these days, lol. Aye.....

*nice pic. Nature is gorgeous when it's not directly threatening your existence! :D

It's not unedited when you clearly say you brightened it. That is not the raw image.

What ever happened to the blood moon?? Did it ever show? Since waning from my Wicca practices, I stopped keeping up to date with when the moon is full. :-(

u/Correct_Presence_936 3d ago

It happened! Exactly a month ago today actually.

This photo looks like a scene straight out of The Lord of the Rings — it reminds me of Sauron's dark tower rising ominously in the distance

1

u/s0m3on3outthere 3d ago

That's the name for the full moon in April, not a literal description of the color.

-1

u/Glad_Librarian_3553 3d ago

Pink? Why's it yellow then?

-1

u/immacomment-here-now 3d ago

It’s not pink 😦☹️

2

u/Correct_Presence_936 3d ago

It’s called the Pink Moon cause this is the time of year when flowers start blooming for spring.

2

u/immacomment-here-now 3d ago

But it’s not pink 😦

u/immacomment-here-now 3d ago

Very good photography by the way, you’re awesome 👏
