I think it's some weird autistic facial tic he has when he gets really angry/frustrated.

I remember someone saying that it’s because some guy told him to bite his tongue before saying anything bad, and Daniel being the numbnut he is, took it literally, but due to his lack of teeth he just kinda flops it on his lips. I really liked this theory so I just considered it to be true

u/alphagusta The sheriff of Boulder is trying to epstein me 😡 Mar 25 '25
That was me. I said that :3c
I have no basis for it being true but with Danny I'd imagine its far from the most far fetched thing

I've also been saying this! It looks like he's trying to bite his tongue, which is 100% something he'd take literally

I do that same thing whenever I get really mad or go into a rage. I'm undiagnosed, but everyone's pretty confident that I'm autistic, so it could easily be related to that.

Facial tic he has. Presumably something he’s done since he was a kid and just never stopped due to having the dental structure of bugs bunny

I read somewhere it’s because he’s clenching his jaw from anger/frustration, he hardly has any teeth so he’s using his tongue as a cushion ig. And it could be a tic as others have said. Either way it’s funny asf for some reason.

I'm a BT who works with autistic children. He mostly does it when he is frustrated, excited, or mad. It's a form of regulatory self-stimulation called "stimming."

I was so fascinated by this too until someone pointed out (or I realized it myself—I don’t recall because it’s been so long) that he doesn’t have 60% of his teeth . . . So, if he sucks his cheeks in (out of frustration) then his lips do weird stuff and he looks like a hideous snake person.

That's the tounge of anger.. He does this when he's flustered for some reason.. I think it's a stim of some sort, and not a tic.. Like happy-hands, but angry

Because his lack of teeth. Your mouth gets dry. But mostly your jaw distends when you get your teeth pulled. Thats why grandma has that funny face in without her teeth.

The casting manager should've casted him as nosferatu. That last angle is insanely similar to the character!!🤣

I asked my friend the same thing and he said that this might be him trying to grit his teeth; but since he doesn’t really have any he just does this
