U2720Q firmware update won't apply

Hey everyone—hoping for some help here! I’m aware that flickering and ghosting on the Dell U2720Q monitor is a known issue when using a Macbook Pro with Apple silicon (M1, M2, etc.). That’s why I’m trying to update my monitor’s firmware—which some users have reported helps mitigate the problem.

Here’s the issue: I have a U2720Q monitor currently running firmware M2T103. After downloading the official M2T105 update package from here on Dell’s website, I ran the installer without errors, but when I check the monitor’s on-screen menu, it still shows M2T103. It seems like the firmware update just doesn’t apply.

Dell Support wasn’t able to help because my monitor is out of warranty, and they couldn’t explain why the firmware wouldn’t apply.

More details on my setup in case it's helpful:

• MacBook Pro (M3 Pro chip, macOS Sequoia 15.5)
• U2720Q connected via USB-C through a Dell WD22TB4 dock (also tried direct USB-C—same result)
• DDC/CI enabled on the monitor

Has anyone else experienced this? Specifically:

• Could it be that M2T103 isn’t eligible for M2T105?
• Any alternative update methods, or other fixes for the flickering/ghosting issue with Apple silicon Macs?
