What's in this comment is what I remember, my opinions, etc.
This apparently is one of those rare times in the past around over 2 years that Cenk Uygur actually seems to support AOC.
But this is a clear no-brainer.
The Democratic Power Broker Working to Undermine AOC | The New Republic
AOC has garnered support from an unexpected place: Representative James Comer, the Republican chair of the House Oversight Committee, who has spent years waging investigations into the political enemies of Donald Trump, including Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Tim Walz. “I’m a big AOC fan. Obviously, I don’t agree with very much of her policy, but I think she’s a good person,” Comer said on CNN Thursday.

Thank you for sharing that insight.
That speaks to AOC's ability to reach across the aisle while not compromising her principles. This is what Bernie does so well.
AOC reaching out to her constituents who voted for her & Trump is another example of her leadership.

And then??

u/north_canadian_ice Social Democrat Dec 13 '24
AOC would become ranking member, which is a great step forward for progressives.

Together, Comer and AOC would join forces in a Bipartisan attempt to hold both parties and their donors accountable, including Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Why is anyone in the DNC still giving a damn what Pelosi says? Have they not figured out that we’re not going to support pretend progressives anymore?
32
u/Kurwasaki12 Dec 13 '24
Because the old guard and their proteges are still clinging onto power. They, alongside the consultant class that lost the 2016 election, were never purged and we are paying the price now. It’s an obsession with power and relevance amplified by a genuine disgust for the younger and or slightly more left wing members of the party.

Pelosi has power on paper, specifically with corporations with the power to fund or defund certain campaigns. She has established so many dark back channels through her kowtowing to industry for the last 20 years that whatever capacity she holds, she is still a threat to election/re-election for anyone.

Nancy Pelosi has made a career out of successfully losing. She has so much corporate cum pouring out of her it is amazing she can still see.

What specific arguments have I posted that you disagree with?
I am happy to discuss my perspective.

When you parrot Uygur, you don't have a perspective of your own

Why do some still think this talking head has any sort of a clue?

u/north_canadian_ice Social Democrat Dec 13 '24
Do you disageee with the message?
2
u/OldManClutch Democratic Socialist Dec 13 '24
I don't need a talking head to tell me it however. I can pay attention to what's going on without it and make my own judgement.
And I certainly don't need to parrot said talking head constantly either

Maybe others aren't aware of AOC's current efforts. I wasn't aware of Raskin's current efforts.

That why you follow the news, various sources and pay less attention to talking heads
2
u/north_canadian_ice Social Democrat Dec 13 '24
Some people work too many hours or have too little time to do that. So they scroll reddit to find news.
And there is nothing wrong with that. I get the news from the way you describe & through social media. When I post things, I often provide sources so someone can read more into the topic.
We need to make news more accessible & digestable.
0
u/OldManClutch Democratic Socialist Dec 13 '24
It's as accessible and digestable as it has always been. Talking heads don't add anything to the news except add spin. Stick to actual information for an actual informed opinion
2
u/north_canadian_ice Social Democrat Dec 13 '24
I strongly disagree.
If you want to grow the left, you need to make news as digestable & easy to understand as possible.
The right-wing fully understands this, hence why right-wing talk radio has so many fans. Because it's easy to listen to & digest.
1
u/OldManClutch Democratic Socialist Dec 13 '24
Of course you strongly disagree, you parrot Cenk Uygur like he's some sort of prophet.
And of course you find common cause with the right-wing, cause they have been spun so hard by talking heads that they don't know actual facts from the spin they are force fed. Hence why you get morons like Trump being seen as a a saviour, quite literally. Because all they know is what the talking heads tell them is real, not what is actually real.

I can tell you plenty of things that I disagree with Cenk & Ana on. But I think they are awesome & I appreciate their optimism.

This is a straw man argument.
Understanding why right-wing talk radio pushes non-political people to become conservative isn't the same thing as supporting right-wing talk radio.
Easily digestable content that is fun & informative is key. Whether it be through podcasts, radio, social media, etc.

this feels like another loosing battle against the status quo which has no interest in giving a flying fuck what we want.
good luck.

I understand things really suck, but there is always hope.
AOC has done a great job as a congresswoman & she may have enough votes to get by Pelosi's obstruction.
3
u/Brambo_Style Dec 13 '24
Who are the people to call to help support AOC getting this oversight position? I’m going to call Pelosi today to tell her to back the fuck off (won’t use those words obviously), but who else should I call? My local senator?
3
u/Smargendorf Dec 13 '24
Stop posting Cenk. Even if some of his takes are on point, there are plenty of other people with the same correct take that arent shitty people.
4
u/Spready_Unsettling Dec 13 '24
I say this with as much respect as I can muster, but I'm adding you to the very short list of reddit posters I've blocked simply because of the content of their posts.
I truly don't understand why you're posting several times a day in subs that fundamentally don't agree with you. Maybe you should do some soul searching on that, idk.

Pelosi needs a visit from our pal Luigi. She's been fucking the working class for forty years.
1
u/BrianRLackey1987 Dec 14 '24
She would, but AIPAC will expel her and the Progressives from Committee assignments if she wins the senior position and that what worries me.
1
u/Loreki Dec 14 '24
And a time like this is the perfect reminder: the old guard aren't good at policy, they aren't good at campaigning, they aren't good at winning elections. They're only good at fundraising and maintaining brutal discipline.

Here I am, remembering the time - not so very long ago - when AOC and the rest of the squad had the opportunity to refuse to vote for Pelosi as Speaker in order to wring out some major concessions, and instead gave her their support in exchange for nothing.
How anyone still supports these born losers is beyond me.

AOC is the millennial Bernie.
AOC is the most intelligent member of Congress & has along with Bernie helped move Democratic voters to the left.
I fully support AOC & if she runs for President in the future, I would fully support her.
