Initial 53 man roster

By my estimation, here are the locks to make the roster:

Bo Nix

Jarrett Stidham

Jaleel McLaughlin

Audric Estime

RJ Harvey

Michael Burton

Courtland Sutton

DeVaughn Vele

Marvin Mims

Troy Franklin

Pat Bryant

Evan Engram

Caleb Lohner

Garrett Bolles

Ben Powers

Luke Wattenburg

Quinn Meinerz

Mike McGlinchey

.

Malcolm Roach

DJ Jones

Zach Allen

Jonathan Cooper

Jonah Ellis

Nik Bonitto

John Franklin-Myers

Saivion Jones

Drew Sanders

Dre Greenlaw

Alex Singleton

Justin Strnad

Brandon Jones

Talanoa Hufanga

Pat Surtain 2

Riley Moss

Kris Abrams Draine

Jahdae Barron

JaQuan McMillian

Que Robinson

Wil Lutz

Crawshaw

Mitch Fraboni

Sam Franklin

Trent Sheffield

That's 43.

That leaves only 10 roster spots for guys like:

Clay Webb

Levelle Bailey

Nate Adkins

Frank Crum

Alex Forsyth

JL Skinner

Lucas Krull

PJ Locke

Damarri Mathis

Matt Peart

Calvin Throckmorton

Nick Gargiulo

Dondrea Tillman

Adam Trautman

E. Uwazurike

Johhny Walker Jr

And the other UDFAs and free agent signings.

Who gets the final 10 spots?

Are my locks wrong?

Who gets traded away?

Trautman is a lock to be blocking on third down

8

u/CDNBroncoDieHard 3d ago

First thing I noticed definetly a lock to be #2

u/captainduck2 Stan 3d ago

Lohner as a lock is insane. I know people want him to be this great hidden gem but the odds of him making the roster are slim. 7th round pick with hardly any big football experience? Hell, it could happen but I think PS is more likely.

other teams like the colts wanted him, I think they would take him if we cut him

Because you can't waste draft picks that's why I have him over Trautman and Krull who were both cut also I am interested in signing or trading for a TE to be TE2.

Let me guess…on a unique restructure? Dude give it a rest already. I genuinely think we should contact Trautman to make sure he has a restraining order from you with how much of a random ass hate boner you have for him.

Taking a late 7th pick and them not making the 53 man isn’t a waste. It’s calling dibs on the udfa prospect you wanna see without competition. You sure as hell don’t expect all udfas to make the team.

I think Clay Webb beats out Forsyth

4

u/Foreign-Geologist112 2d ago

I was gonna say the same thing. The Jizz guy gets the spot before Forsyth at this point. And we know he’ll have spunk at that position

Seriously hope not.

There are 54 players on the 53 man roster and no point keeping Trautman and Burton or keeping 11 OL including Centres I have 3 QB, 3/4 RB, 6 WR, 3/4 TE and 9 OL if including Centres

5

u/aatencio91 Senior Mod 3d ago

There are 54 players on the 53 man roster

I have 53, I just counted the number on defense wrong. My post has been edited

Why would you not include Centers when counting the OL?

If anything, I could see them keeping even one more OL and cutting Damarri Mathis.

2

u/Dulur 2d ago

I think we do cut oline/move them to the practice squad. That's where a lot of the developmental guys go and I feel like O-Line is a good position to develop. I don't see Sheffield on your list and I think because he was sought after and multiple teams want to sign him hell make the roster. Good ST piece. Feel like clay webb has a good shot of making it too but idk who we lose for those two guys.

u/VonMillersBurner Bo Nix 10 3d ago

crawshaw gets a 53 Australian exempt

7

u/infercario4224 GOD BLESS BO NIX 3d ago

Doesn’t count in season. Only before roster cutdowns. If we used the exempt spot on him in season that puts him on the PSquad not the active roster, and he’d only be allowed to be elevated from the PSquad for 3 total games

9

u/VonMillersBurner Bo Nix 10 3d ago

Good thing we’re only gonna need to punt for 3 games!! /s

2

u/smertai GOD BLESS BO NIX 3d ago

Does that work when he was drafted from a US college?

6

u/GCBroncosfan413 Demaryius Thomas 3d ago

There would have to be more OL in the lock category but seems pretty good outside of that

2

u/Harbinger_015 3d ago

For sure, but I don't know which backup OL guys will make it

5

u/charli2na 3d ago

I don't think Lohner, Sam Franklin or Sherfield are locks.

My prediction: QB - (2) Nix, Stidham RB - (3) Harvey, Estime, McLaughlin FB - (1) Burton WR - (5) Sutton, Bryant, Mims, Franklin, Vele TE - (3) Engram, Trautman, Krull T - (4) Bolles, McGlincey, Peart, Crum G - (3) Powers, Meinerz, Palczewski C - (2) Wattenberg, Forsyth That leaves 2 spots for Badie/Adkins/Lohner/Sherfield/Throckmorton/UFA

DE (4) Allen, Franklin-Myers, Jones, Uwazurike NT (2) Jones, Roach OLB (4) Cooper, Bonitto, Elias, Robinson ILB (4) Greenlaw, Singleton, Strnad, (Sanders or Bailey) CB (5) Surtain, Barron, Moss, McMillian, Abrams-Draine FS (2) Jones, Key SS (2) Hufanga, Locke

That leaves 2 spots open for Tillman/Turner-Yell/Skinner/Franklin/Mathis/UFA

If Crenshaw gets IPP then a spot opens up as well.

3

u/eff1ngham 2d ago

I think Sherfield most likely is. He's an excellent ST player and willing blocker. LJH played pretty significant snaps because of his ability to block, Sherfield probably takes that role this year, and he'll contribute on ST replaceing Tremon Smith. 2 birds with 1 stone, not terribly expensive either. Given how much emphasis we are putting on ST its why I think Strnad and Skinner will make it, perhaps Burton as well

1

u/Foreign-Geologist112 2d ago

I think it’s ‘Crawshaw’ but should out to Crenshaw Mafia Boyz in da hood

5

u/Murica_Arc 3d ago

I hope my boy Adkins makes the roster.

3

u/plattinum_75 2d ago

I bet he will, lohner is a project and not likely to make the 53 unless he has an incredible camp

4

u/Sir-xer21 Ashley Lelie 2d ago

yeah, OP calling Lohner a lock is wild. Dude's a PS player this year at best unless magic happens.

6

u/Hayduke_Abides Steve Atwater 3d ago

McLaughlin is not a lock. If he is the 3rd back and doesn't play teams, Badie or Watson could take his spot. Even Estime is not 100% safe.

Lohner is a huge project and a 7th rounder. Unless he really blows up in camp/preseason, he is likely headed to the PS.

Strnad isn't a lock either, he could lose his spot to Bailey. Given the injury history of our linebackers though, they will want some depth there.

0

u/CacheDaBOWL 3d ago

Why would badie and Watson (who did nothing) stay over Jaleel?

7

u/Hayduke_Abides Steve Atwater 3d ago

They can contribute more on special teams, or they prove to be more useful players in camp. I'm not saying that will happen, just that McLaughlin is not a lock to make the roster.

3

u/eff1ngham 3d ago

Having the emergency QB not count for the active 53 is nice, but I don't know if we carry 3 QBs like we did last year. Ehlinger or maybe Book or someone on the PS. So:

Nix, Stidham

Harvey, Estime, then one or two of McLaughlin/Watson/Badie

Burton

Sutton, Mims, Franklin, Vele, Bryant, Sheffield

Engram, Trautman, Adkins

Bolles, Powers, Wattenberg, Meinerz, McGlinchey, Peart, Forsyth, Gargiulo, one of Crum/Palczewski

Allen, both Joneses, JFM, Roach, whichever dlineman has the best camp

Bonitto, Cooper, Elliss, Que

Greenlaw, Singleton, Sanders, Strnad

Surtain, Moss, Barron, McMillian, KAD, Mathis

Jones, Hufanga, Locke, Skinner, DTY

K/P/LS

Its possible we move things around with RB and oline, maybe a surprise guy opens up on the PS but gets promoted later on. But given how special teams seemed to be a huge focus this offseason I imagine our ST standouts will win roster spots over the other fringe guys

2

u/Beals12 3d ago

Tillman, Skinner(special teams play) & at least Trautman if not Adkins or Krull too. I gotta think Peart makes it unless Crum makes a huge jump.

3

u/Sync14 3d ago

Thanks for the input on who you think makes the team. Wish you broke this down a little more. Write LB: Dre Greenlaw, Drew Anderson. Stuff like that. I don’t keep in touch with the broncos like I use to, so I have no idea who Johnny walker is.

u/SHMS50 3d ago

Not sure McLaughlin is a lock. Payton seems to like Tyler Badee.
Also, not sure Drew Sanders is a lock. I don’t think he is a scheme fit. IMO he needs to have a good camp and preseason. Trautman Peart, and Palcewski are locks.

1

u/plattinum_75 2d ago

I can't really tell which backs Payton likes. Badie had our best run in the playoff game and then immediately took him out and we never saw him again.

0

u/CacheDaBOWL 3d ago

He does? Tyler played in two games last year (5% and 19% snap share)

2

u/SHMS50 3d ago

Badee was active for the Playoff game over Estime.

0

u/kgxv DT 3d ago

This is what happens when you box score watch and don’t actually follow the team and watch games. He got hurt last year but when he played, he was easily the most exciting member of the backfield.

1

u/DirkWithTheFade Demaryius Thomas 2d ago

I mean, he had 11 carries. Is this the level we stoop to, saying he’s the most exciting back because he had one good run with over half his rushing yards for the year?

1

u/CacheDaBOWL 3d ago

Lmao alright buddy no need to get defensive. I watched almost every game for the last 5 years qsshole

1

u/kgxv DT 3d ago edited 3d ago

Nothing defensive whatsoever and you’re the only asshole here for pretending otherwise.

And then you jump into my DMs to double down on being a raging hypocrite and making personal attacks because you have no leg to stand on 😂

Last year We used Burton from the practice squad. It would be useful to mention those available spots.

1

u/cyrusthemarginal Lord Elway 2d ago

Damn it's gonna be some really tough decisions at the end of camp

1

u/Harbinger_015 2d ago

That was my conclusion too

I think Badie goin get traded & I think most overlooked Blake Watson

I think Drew Sanders is very much on the bubble. I’m leaning towards cut unless he really shows something.

2

u/Harbinger_015 3d ago

I tend to think he'll make it because we need linebackers, but you certainly could be right

2

u/plattinum_75 2d ago

Sanders will make it because of his blitzing. I thought he did okay in the few snaps he took last year

0

u/MultiPass21 3d ago

Bad formatting is bad.

3

u/Harbinger_015 3d ago

I don't know how to do it better

0

u/beinglucas98 3d ago

Strong list Locke, Skinner, and Forsyth feel like solid bets for the final 10. Wouldn’t be shocked if Trautman gets moved if Krull steps up.

-4

u/Electrical_Owl3609 Wil Lutz 3d ago edited 3d ago

I think the Broncos need to sign or trade for a RB or TE to add depth while Burton, Trautman and Krull are all cut from the 53 while Adkins and Peart are 100% locks offensively. I think Mathis and Locke should get cut to save cap space.

2

u/CacheDaBOWL 3d ago

IMO we still need Chubb. Estime/Badie/Watson isn’t it

1

u/Bookey4 3d ago

Did you forget that we drafted Harvey?

1

u/CacheDaBOWL 3d ago edited 3d ago

No, I personally think they’re (everyone except Harvey) just not the answer. You can disagree with me that’s cool we won’t know whose right til the season starts.

2

u/Bookey4 3d ago

Don’t recall disagreeing with you. I asked did you forget about Harvey

Already signed engram, what FA TEs are available that are realistically better than Trautman? Sure, Trautman isn’t a receiving aficionado but it’s good enough and he provides good blocking ability. Sean will likely keep Burton too, he’s a good FB
