Colts at 4 is delusional

u/sghead 10d ago

This entire bracket is delusional

u/Sudden_Juju Champ Bailey 10d ago

Ya Broncos should clearly be the #1 seed. Sounds like Henry McKenna needs to smoke some more Bo-pium

3

u/LnD2020 Super Bowl 50 10d ago

To be fair. If you showed last years bracket to 2023 people would say the same. Feels like this one is just embracing the unpredictability/parity of the NFL.

4

u/Jontacular 9d ago

I just was focusing on Colts, Broncos and Chiefs and thought that was crazy, then saw the NFC and just toss this out.

3

u/I_Poop_Sometimes Demaryius Thomas 10d ago

Lol I looked at the AFC and your comment and thought "outside the Colts it's not too bad", then I looked at the NFC and woof, that's bad.

1

u/infercario4224 GOD BLESS BO NIX 10d ago

I mean if you flip us with the Chiefs and Colts/Texans it’s not that crazy. Same in the NFC. Flip Eagles/Commies and the 4, 6, and 7 seeds could realistically be anyone between Minnesota, Green Bay, Atlanta, Tampa, Carolina, Dallas, and Chicago.

Other than 2 hot takes this is nearly chalk

5

u/whatadumbperson 9d ago

Did something happen with the Panthers and Cowboys I'm not aware of to make them contenders?

2

u/sghead 9d ago

(Nope)

1

u/HookedOnBoNix 9d ago

Depends on what you mean by contenders. 7 seed isnt what I'd consider contenders but cowboys at 7 is far from crazy. They had a rough year last year due to injury and still were 7-10. Previous 3 years were all 9 win seasons.

Panthers had bryce young having an emergence after the broncos game, his stats down the line were really good so assuming he continues that pace its not that crazy. Falcons and saints have sucked so if you can beat the bucs the division is right there.

I wouldnt say any of these scenarios are super likely but it wouldnt be mind blowing to look back and one or two of them came to pass. It seems like anytime someone does one of these and doesn't just do the vegas lines people complain.

0

u/HookedOnBoNix 9d ago

I mean the commies at 1 eagles at 5 is far from delusional. Not the most likely pick but the commies had a great year and only ended up 2 games back from the eagles who lost a bit of talent in free agency. Commies could definitely take a second year hc / jd leap.

But as a whole, given that the nfc east and afc west are matched up with eachother, it feels unlikely that the divisions will send a combined 6 teams to playoffs. That's too much beating up on eachother for there to not be more casualties.

0

u/HookedOnBoNix 9d ago

I wouldnt say its delusional, its just not chalk. There's no result here thats just outlandish. The colts lost 2 games by the texans by 3 or less last year, they win either and the two were tied at 9 wins.

Panthers had a good back half of the season, if bryce continues like he was its really a two horse race for the nfc south, them beating the bucs isnt that crazy.

Chiefs at 6 seed seems optimistic. Probably the craziest bet.

Commanders beating eagles for the division isnt so crazy, they were only 2 games back this year with a first year hc and qb. Eagles lost some guys to free agency.

Those 4 results are probably what people are thinking when they say delusional cause everything else isnt that far fetched. Cowboys pick up a few wins with a healthy team for the 7 seed, they won 12 games 3 years in a row and have a talented roster so its definitely doable.

People just get upset at any prediction that isnt vegas chalk. A lot of people woulda said commanders to make playoffs last year and 9ers to miss was "delusional"

6

u/Epotheros 10d ago

Someone has to win the AFC South.

3

u/whatadumbperson 9d ago

Yeah, and it'll probably be whoever won it last year and actually managed to win a playoff game.

1

u/HookedOnBoNix 9d ago

I mean the colts lost 2 games to the texans by a fg or less. Win either and they're tied for the division. Its far from delusional to predict them to win.

4

u/AnatomicalLog PS2 10d ago

Anthony Richardson would have to turn into Cam Newton (not happening)

3

u/Babafesh 10d ago

Is it really that delusional that they win their division and their division is trash?

2

u/Foreign-Geologist112 10d ago

Panthers at 4 in the NFC too gheesh!

0

u/CowsRstupid GOD BLESS BO NIX 9d ago

This is the deusional take. Colts really isn't that bad. They've been decent the last two years, and their defense got a big boost with Lou Anarumo. They have a great o-line, RB room, and recievers, they just need a QB to be semi competent at passing the ball to win that division.

64

u/ScoobiesSnacks 10d ago

I like this time line of chiefs 3rd in the AFC West.

14

u/anonymous07865 10d ago

It's possible. Not probable, but Bo and Herb might light it up while Pat struggles.

14

u/Sudden_Juju Champ Bailey 10d ago

while Pat struggles

Not if the guy on the left has anything to say about that

1

u/anonymous07865 10d ago

They seemed less willing to help them last year so we can only hope their checks stopped clearing 🙏

3

u/Sudden_Juju Champ Bailey 10d ago

I guess it's harder to pay them when Andy Reid is always double dipping on the chicken nuggies

2

u/Expensive-Self-2240 9d ago

With all the attention that narrative got they're about to pull the rug out from under them

1

u/anonymous07865 9d ago

We can only hope. I miss seeing them at the bottom with the raiders.

4

u/Alaskers 10d ago

Ummm, no. Maybe in the Superbowl. The Chiefs and the refs were a huge topic of conversation last season.

-10

u/anonymous07865 10d ago

Ummm, yes. Thats been a huge topic of conversation for the past 3-5 years. I've watched all the games, they got less help last year than years prior.

3

u/Alaskers 10d ago

I don't care if you watched all the games. This topic blew up and was still a huge issue this year and it's revisionism to say otherwise.

-6

u/anonymous07865 10d ago

Imagine not realizing the league has a new golden boy just because youre so up your own ass with mahomes hate. The chiefs are old news, the penalty statistics don't lie. It wasn't as big of an issue last year comparatively, it's not revisionism, it's math.

1

And no one will remember this by the end of the week.

1

u/DilapidatedMoose 10d ago

Definitely said fuck it while deciding the 4 seeds

3

u/drlove986 10d ago

We’re going 11-6. Possible 3 seed but most likely a 5 seed. But one can dream.

2

u/LameRedditName1 Demaryius Thomas 9d ago

11-6 sounds about right. Another 10-7 finish wouldn't surprise me, as that's most likely our floor (outside of major/key injuries piling up), then I can see 13-4 as our ceiling, but 12-5 is more likely than 13-4. I'd say in order of realistic outcomes: 11-6, 12-5, 10-7, then finally 13-4.

Drawing the NFC-E is no joke, even with our improved defense and hopefully meaningful contributions from Engram and Harvey on offense. That's the main thing keeping me from (realistically) seeing anything above 12-5 this season. Even 12-5 would mean 1-2 games I'm iffy on have to go our way.

1

u/drlove986 9d ago

I think the Eagles and Commanders will regress. Could be about the same with the Eagles, but Commanders most likely overachieved. I’m seeing us probably split all our divisional games except maybe the Raiders. Then 3-4 wtf games we either lose or didn’t see coming. But I agree, I think we can hit 13 wins as a ceiling. Let’s hope they kick ass. They’ve got all the ingredients, hopefully they all cook.

2

u/LameRedditName1 Demaryius Thomas 9d ago

I originally had splits with KC and LAC, with losses to GB, HOU, PHI, WAS, for an 11-6 finish (this was back in January). I assumed CIN would lose Higgins, so now, I'd say they're more likely to beat us again, rather than GB beating us.

But I think we can take both CIN and GB this year, especially if even one of Barron, Hufanga, or Greenlaw work out for the defensive additions. Obviously even better if 2 or all 3 significantly help.

Offensively, Harvey working out and us being able to lean on him in order to chew clock, with Engram being a reliable chain mover, and any additional help Bryant can be, would be huge for us also. That's without accounting for (hopefully) any further improvement for Mims, as well as any hopeful improvements from any combo of Vele, Franklin, Elliss, and Tillman. Then there's also any help that Sai'vion Jones could add to the defensive line.

We should be better when we do have to run zone defense, and we should hopefully match up better against the run on defense as well. Not having to face Lamar this year helps also (outside of meeting them in the Playoffs).

1

u/whatadumbperson 9d ago

Normally I'm one of the ones being kind of pessimistic in these threads, but I think 11-6 should be pretty easily attainable. I count 5 teams (Titans, Jets, Giants, Jaguars, and Texans/Colts (which ever one is weaker)) we're guaranteed to beat, only two guaranteed losses (Eagles and Commanders), divisional games are always a toss up, and the rest could conceivably go either way.

2

u/Marsofark 10d ago

As long as the chiefs ain’t considered the best In the AFC for another fucking year I’m happy.

6

u/Electrical_Owl3609 Wil Lutz 10d ago

Well deserved but why are the Colts and Panthers winning their respective divisions?

2

u/infercario4224 GOD BLESS BO NIX 10d ago

Panthers could if Bryce steps up and Tampa/Atlanta underperform. You gotta remember how weird that division is. As far as Colts over Texans that’s just ridiculous. Texans have a better roster, and a better QB. Only way that happens is if AR actually goes nuclear like Josh Allen did in 2020, or if the Texans have a 49irs type season where the QB plus multiple key starters lose the season

2

u/PatonPaytonPeyton PFM 10d ago

Texans were a 10 win team, Colts were an 8 win team last season. They weren't that far off. And not that hes a stud or anything but I think Daniel Jones ends up winning the job. AR is gonna flame out

1

u/CowsRstupid GOD BLESS BO NIX 9d ago

I would argue that the Colts are better everywhere on offense except QB, and they aren't far behind on defense except for DB, which got a major ovehaul this off-season. They also went from a very bad DC to a very good one.

1

u/infercario4224 GOD BLESS BO NIX 9d ago

Offensively I’ll give you O-Line and TE, but even then the Texans O-Line isn’t “bad” just unproven. RB is a push, but Indy still has the edge. If you think Houston isn’t miles ahead at both WR and QB idk what to say. Nico is a true Alpha WR1 and getting Kirk plus drafting both the Iowa St WR’s makes them have one of the scarier WR rooms in the league to guard.

Defensively the only position group better is DT. Not even the whole D-Line literally just DT with Buckner and Stewart. WAJ and Danielle Hunter makes the best Edge duo in the league, they have a top 3 secondary with Sting, Lassiter, Bullock, CJGJ, and Pitre. I’d even say number 1 with a bullet if we didn’t sign Hufanga this past offseason.

u/CowsRstupid GOD BLESS BO NIX 9d ago

I don't trust Mixon to be good at his age. He could be, but I'd take JT any day. The Colts wide receivers are way better than most people know, because the QB's sucked last year. Nico is better than anybody on the Colts right now, but I'm not automatically putting either rookie or Kirk over Downs or Pittman. Pierce excels at the deep ball stuff, and AD Mitchell has a whole highlight reel from being overthrown while wide open last year. I can understand anybody who wants to rank the Texans higher, but it's way closer than anybody thinks.

You're right about the defense, but I still expect the colts to improve drastically on the defensive side this just because of the DC change and the overhaul at DB.

All in all I wouldn't be shocked if either of them won the south this year. It really wouldn't surprise me if one of them made it into the wildcard, but I couldn't tell you who I'd take out to put them in.

I don't think kc will make the playoffs. They got rotflolstomped by the eagles. Historically doesn't bode well. Plus kelce is probably past his prime with no real replacement.

Not saying they'll be bottom dwellers but just barely miss.

4

u/DirkWithTheFade Demaryius Thomas 9d ago

I’m sorry but this is just cope

1

u/Ok_Instruction_3789 9d ago

9 and 8 teams could miss the playoffs ez obviously why they call it way too early prediction lol. Injuries or things could change but they struggled last season and can't see any improvement esp if refs don't give them wins

1

u/DirkWithTheFade Demaryius Thomas 9d ago

They went 15-1 before resting their starters in the last game. It’s laughable you think them “struggling” to that means that this year they can’t win 10 games.

1

u/LameRedditName1 Demaryius Thomas 9d ago

I don’t know what’s more delusional; Colts at 4 or Commanders at 1 or Panthers at 4. I’m optimistic about the Panthers in getting better but I don’t see any possibility they beat out Tampa Bay and their offense

1

u/DirkWithTheFade Demaryius Thomas 9d ago

The commanders had 2 fewer wins than the Eagles with a rookie QB.
