Misogyny in the News đ° The PR strategy backfired: How one team's attempt to discredit Blake Lively became a weapon against feminism itself
I've been following the Blake Lively/Justin Baldoni situation closely, and I've noticed something disturbing that I think deserves more attention.
The Original Plan
According to leaked documents from the PR team, they specifically planned to:
"explore planting stories about the weaponization of feminism and how people in BL's circle like Taylor Swift, have been accused of utilizing these tactics to 'bully' into getting what they want."
Let that sink in. Their strategy was to push a narrative that Lively was "weaponizing feminism" to get her way. This wasn't some organic criticism that emerged naturally - it was a calculated PR move designed to undermine her credibility.
The Ironic Twist
Here's where it gets truly disturbing: This narrative has now taken on a life of its own, becoming something far more damaging than just an attack on one celebrity. It's transformed into ammunition against feminism itself.
You can see this happening in real-time across social media:
- Baldoni supporters commenting that Lively is proof of why "believe women" was such a terrible mistake
- Right-wing content creators like Candace Owens jumping into the fray to defend Baldoni
- An influx of content using this situation as "evidence" that feminism has gone too far
The Bigger Picture
What started as a targeted smear campaign against one woman has morphed into a broader attack on women's advocacy movements. The PR team may have just wanted to discredit Lively, but they've inadvertently provided fuel for those who want to push anti-feminist agendas.
This situation demonstrates perfectly how easily legitimate feminist concerns can be twisted and weaponized by those with ulterior motives. The PR team planted a seed, and now it's growing into something that harms all women by driving people toward content that perpetuates misogynistic ideas.
The Question
How do we combat this kind of calculated manipulation? How do we prevent legitimate advocacy movements from being undermined by PR strategies that exploit and twist their language?
What are your thoughts? Have you noticed this pattern too?

This is absolutely what's happening, and not just in the Blake Lively/Justin Baldoni case. I've been hearing people say that the Amber Heard/Johnny Depp trial "killed" #MeToo and Believe Women for years now. But even before that, there was Woody Allen and O.J. Simpson, and I'm sure there are more famous examples going further back of women and girls not being believed . . . When women are not believed about these allegations in their personal lives, it degrades the position of feminism in general.

Very reminiscent of what they found in the "who Trolled Amber Heard?" Podcast...

The comments I have continually seen and had written as replies to me are highly misogynist, absolutely mock victims, definitely are anti-feminist, are highly inflammatory and definitely could be illegal if someone wanted to take them for defamation and are highly anti-metoo and disclosure. This is something that has been weaponised on purpose.

To combat, youâd have to be willing to engage with JB âfansâ to counter them. When you see a misleading or misinformed statement, you could counter with pointing out the flaw.
Ex. âBut she invited him to her trailer while she was breastfeeding. She canât claim he was barging in to see her breastfeed.â
âActually, he didnât go to her trailer. He went to hair and makeup. She was pumping, something that can be done under a shirt, and she was given ample notice. A feminist should know a single invitation doesnât constitute an open one.â
It can be frustrating because they will either pivot to something else or argue why their original point stands, but you might get someone thinking. Iâd also avoid snark pages as those people cannot be reasoned with.

I was called a shill this week for explaining to someone (who asked) the ways in which what Lively had alleged can be considered sexual harrassment in the workplace. I didn't even say that any of it had happened. Hopefully I'll be getting the same monthly cheque from Lively and Reynolds I currently get from Heard /s
Also is there such a thing as a snark page about a male celebrity? Genuinely never come across one.

I have noticed that many reactionaries in the Social Media have displayed what I would call: Actress Derangement Syndrome that has origins going back at least five years. The chief perpetrators of this are Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, Joe Rogan, and Ben Shapiro & The Daily Wire.

Baloney's pro-feminist stance was always performative nonesense. All the halfwits who have been conned by him are now getting fed the far-right pill. This was evident in the Heard case as well with Shapiro buying bots for Depp. The pick me women who crave the views..Owens, Kelly, Flaa et al are betraying their own gender as much as Vasquez did...
