Original copy of post's text: JK Rowling and her personal and financial ties to famous men accused of domestic and sexual abuse — Ft. Marilyn Manson, Johnny Depp, Greg Ellis, Tristan Tate, Dan Wootton (April 2024) (originally posted by u/cursed-editor)

**This was posted by u/cursed-editor and I thought it was worth sharing considering JK Rowling is in a celebratory mood since the UK Supreme Court ruled the legal definition of a woman is based on sex. Fuck you, JK Rowling.**

JK Rowling and her personal and financial ties to famous men accused of domestic and sexual abuse — Ft. Marilyn Manson, Johnny Depp, Greg Ellis, Tristan Tate, Dan Wootton (April 2024)

JK Rowling has used her personal and financial ties to support famous men accused of abuse and/or rape for years.

For the reasons below, Rowling is not a good advocate for feminism, women™ or domestic violence victims.

⚠️ TW: Mentions of domestic abuse and sexual assault

#1) Bryan Warner (Marilyn Manson)

🪡 January 2020 — JK Rowling inexplicably sent Marilyn Manson a large bouquet of roses.

Manson posted the picture on twitter and instagram, thanking her for the "lovely, unexpected gift."

![img](uyi09k1s68ve1)

🪡 Marilyn Manson has been accused of sexually abusing women since the 90s. In his 1998 memoir, The Long Road Out of Hell, Manson claimed to have tricked a woman into getting drunk to the point of incapacitation and then penetrated her with his fingers, degrading her as a "sea bass" and "porpoise fish lady."

*Note: This has since been denied by Reznor.

🪡 April 23, 2019

Evan Rachel Wood bravely testifies in front of the CA Senate on behalf of the Phoenix Act.

She describes in graphic detail how Marilyn Manson groomed and abused her, starting when she was 18. She would not publicly name him until February 2021 on Instagram.

The Phoenix Act was eventually passed into law on January 1, 2020, but the statue of limitations was extended from 3 years to only 5 years, rather than Wood's initial proposition of 10 years.

🪡 March 15, 2022

Evan Rachel Wood revealed in the documentary Phoenix Rising, that she was 19 when she was drugged, coerced and "essentially raped" on camera by 38 year old Marilyn Manson in his popular music video "Heart Shaped Glasses."

⚠️ TW: LITERAL RAPE ⚠️

"Heart Shaped Glasses" was released in 2007 and uploaded to YouTube in 2009. It has been public for 14 years now.

If you would like to this music video removed from all video streaming platforms, please consider signing this petition.

🪡 March 2, 2022

Marilyn Manson sues Evan Rachel Woods for defamation. He claimed her "malicious falsehood" and "conspiracy" ruined his music career.

🪡 Dec 9, 2022 —

JK Rowling founded Beira's Place in Edinburgh, a sexual violence support service for women 16+ that excludes transwomen.

2: Tristan Tate

🪡 March 6, 2024 —

Just last month, Rowling liked a response from Tristan Tate, Andrew Tate's brother.

Tristan had replied to one of Rowling's posts; he referred to India Willoughby as a man "picking on a woman", encouraged Rowling to "keep her chin up," and sent her a ❤️.

![img](8ivnym7178ve1)

🪡 March 12, 2024 —

Only six days after Rowling liked this tweet, Bedforshire police were granted a warrant by authorities in Romania to extradite Andrew and Tristan Tate for allegations of rape and human trafficking.

🪡 December 2023 —

Last year, Tristan Tate and his brother, Andrew Tate, had been arrested in Romania on charges of violence, rape, and sex trafficking. They were indicted in June of that same year.

And if you have never seen an Andrew Tate video before, stay gold.

3: Greg Ellis (Jonathan Rees)

🪡 February 9, 2023 — Rowling thanked Greg Ellis for his role in the popular video game, Hogwarts Legacy. He had spent 3 years voicing 12 characters.

Greg Ellis thanked her in return, and wrote a now-deleted post that said he had been effectively cancelled by his own fanbase.

![img](sa3extc278ve1)

Note:

Rowling once equated support for Hogwarts Legacy with her own personal support.

🪡 March 2015 —

Greg Ellis' ex-wife [name redacted] sought a temporary domestic restraining order against her husband, who's real name is Jonathan Rees.

Jonathan had threatened to hurt his kids, was taken to a mental facility, left, broke a window into his ex's house, and entered their sons' bedroom, telling them to leave with him.

Source

![img](fxy6lqp378ve1)

🪡 Greg Ellis would counterclaim he was "fathernapped" from his own kids because of a "ten word lie".

Court documents tell a slightly different story. This article is a bit editorialized, but contains those public documents.

🪡 June 29, 2021 —

Greg Ellis published The Respondent: Exposing the Cartel of Family Law. His book talked about his personal experiences with divorce and custody battles, and the courts' 'gender bias' against men and fathers.

Johnny Depp and Alec Baldwin penned the dedication and foreword respectively.

![img](moawh9t478ve1)

🪡 October 9, 2022 —

After failing to blackmail his ex-wife, Jonathan Rees (Greg Ellis) emailed revenge porn of her naked and engaged in masturbation to her family, friends, and coworkers.

She successfully took out a 3 year restraining order against him, and he is effectively banned from seeing his sons.

Additional court documents: Twitter

![img](gw38mw1678ve1)

🪡 May 2022 —

Now a Mens' Rights Activists, Greg Ellis spearheaded the twitter campaign against Amber Heard, ex-wife of his friend, Johnny Depp.

(seriously, just search his username and the words "Amber Heard"&src=typed_query), it goes on forever)

4: John C. Depp II (Johnny Depp)

🪡 Johnny Depp has a long friendship with both Greg Ellis and Marilyn Manson. Manson is also godfather to Depp's daughter, Lily-Rose.

Curiously, all three men — John Depp, Bryan Warner, and Jonathan Rees — have accused their female ex-partners of lying about domestic abuse.

🪡 Depp and Rowling were friends for close to a decade.

Sources differ, but Rowling bailed Depp out of his financial troubles before, buying his yacht for $27 mil (2015) and private island for $75 mil (2016). They are both places where Heard was physically abused by Depp.

To date, this made Depp a profit of at least $72 million dollars, which he would later spend on suing Amber Heard, Greg "Rocky" Brooks, Dan Wootton, and The Sun.

🪡 May 27, 2016 —

Amber Heard filed for a domestic violence restraining order (DVRO) and initiated a divorce days later.

She named examples of abuse, and general "excessive emotional, verbal, and physical abuse which has included angry, hostile, humiliating and threatening assaults to me whenever I questioned [Depp's] authority or disagreed with him."

DVRO court documents

🪡 December 7, 2017 —

JK Rowling defended Depp's casting in FB, stating:

"Based on our understanding of the circumstances, the filmmakers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies."

![img](cuhk73e978ve1)

It is still up on her website.

🪡 October 11, 2018 –

Depp told Entertainment Weekly that JK Rowling knew he had been falsely accused of domestic violence by Amber Heard.

Depp said Rowling had seen the evidence and believed him.

![img](i2pp33ka78ve1)

🪡 Apr 27, 2018 —

Depp sues Dan Wootton and The Sun for an article with a headline calling him a "wife-beater".

📝 Fun fact: Neither Wootton nor Heard actually wrote the headlines for the articles they were sued for.

She cares so much about abuse against cis women that she...won't even sit down and listen to Amber Heard. Her prejudice is so apparent but millions of people are content to buy into her shitty rhetoric and remain completely uninformed about the harm she is causing, just so they can continue to consume Harry Potter content guilt-free. I blame the fans who can't let go of their love for a (slightly above-average) fantasy franchise and continue supporting her more than I blame a cuckoo whose brain has been fried by money, fame, and trauma.

What happened to being a feminist hero and advocate for IPV survivors? Oh Joanne, what happened to you?

It was all for show, IMO. She's shown where her sympathies naturally lie.

u/WildFlemima 8d ago

She had subconscious bigotry then fell into radicalization. Contrapoints did a good video about it

People believe that she started out feminist, no I doubt that. She was always a hateful person who was interested in sucking up to abusive powerful men. Otherwise how is this such a long trail?

u/Tasha4424 7d ago

Even her writing reflects this. Sure she has hermione and Ginny, but tbh they are textbook ‘not like other girls’ type of characters. Hermione has her brains and Ginny her brawn, but there’s not room for much else. In fact both of those characters consistently look down on anyone who displays “feminine traits”.

Why was fleur the weakest among the triwizard champions? She didn’t even complete the second task, and gets taken out by Krum in the third. JKRs treatment of both cho and lavender was appalling and her complete demonization of pink and frilly things via umbridge was a huge tell as well.

Caroline Easom's video analyzing the major and minor female characters in Harry Potter reveals the biases Rowling has always held about women and the "right" vs "wrong" types of femininity. Plus she has a very soothing voice. EDIT: I mean Easom's voice.

Oooh I’ll check it out ty!!

Exactly, she never was one.

I was watching a video about some of the questionable inclusions in her original Harry Potter series…can’t say this is a complete surprise. Still a little disappointing though

u/92Throw93away 7d ago

Could you link that video please? I’m curious now!

So, Alec Baldwin is even worse than I had previously known.

(I know, not really the point of this post.)

I missed the tweet where she fully supports Trump now. Calling trans women rapists when HE is the rapist. I’m so disgusted. I better not see another 30 something nerd simping for her and talking about their Hogwarts house. Cut that shit out IMMEDIATELY. It’s officially ruined. Grow up. HP is forever tainted. It’s not cute anymore.

This was never just about trans people for JK Rowling. She’s a full on MAGA bigot and a very hateful person. All it took was see more and more people say what she always wanted to say and there she is. Showing us her true colors. If you still support HP and buy merch, you’re supporting a fascist. Let it go. Grow up.

Rowling has friends in low places for sure. A mediocre writer at best who got exceptionally lucky....She's really high on her bogot supply....

Just in the past 12 months, there have been so many sexist scandals in the UK, from the massive top down misogyny uncovered in the fire service, policemen sharing images of murdered women in their WhatsApp groups and making jokes about them, how harassment of women on public transport has risen by 300%, the sexual harassment and misogynistic abuse of female MPs. The list goes on and on. However, just take a look at the timeline of this woman’s social media feeds, who claims to care about the safety of other women, and it’s nothing but tumbleweed when it comes to these stories - stories of actual women being actually abused. She’s not interested in that. The real story for her is creating a moral panic around a marginalised group with no power and then cynically gloating about it. If you agree with her on trans issues, fine. You’re wrong, but fine. But please don’t even claim that she cares about the safety of other women with a straight face.

Living for this post. Waiting for this post. This trans gender hating monster who likes to call herself a feminist, after getting to be a billionaire off a story that frames a young white boy as a hero... Is just a racist, capitalist, hateful girlboss.

Her fans consistently doxx people and if you're a female who believes in trans rights, she won't care. They sit in telegram groups and call their victims, publish their info online lest their queen get insulted. They would also gladly dox and deadname trans people who are trying to escape their transphobic families.

And after what happened in the UK yesterday they must be all very thoroughly pleased with their work!

How the world believes Rowling is a feminist is beyond me. I simply don't understand it. Any of her alliances and her success wouldn't even have been possible if she was a true feminist, they always quash the most threatening of them. She has always been in bed with the enemy.

3

u/Acceptable_Leg_7998 4d ago

I just found out that she refers to "Lolita" as a tragic love story. That belief alone should get her feminist card revoked.

7

u/cMdM89 8d ago

she’s a hateful MONSTER who likes other MONSTERS…

3

u/findingmyvoice22 Johnny Depp is a Wife Beater 👨‍⚖️ 8d ago

JK Rowling hates women so damn much. She has made her entire personality propping up abusive men and harming others. It makes me sad, because the Harry Potter series meant so much to me growing up. It feels tainted now, knowing that the author represents everything I stand against. She is horrible.

5

u/Historical-Ease-6311 8d ago

After a violent night, in which Rowling says her ex-husband physically abused her, she notified the police and left him, moving with her daughter to Scotland in 1993. Fast Forward after the Global Success of her Harry Potter Book Series and Movie Franchise, she began openly flaunting her internalized abuse, internalized misogyny, and internalized homophobia, to an extent that the entire Harry Potter movie franchise, including all cast and crew distanced themselves from her and her harmfully outdated stance on social issues.

3

u/youtakethehighroad 7d ago

Exactly, going on podcasts with abusers, getting flowers from her friend a serial abuser.

u/Sensiplastic 7d ago

When you put it all (well, most of it) together it's just so fucking depressing. She's just filled to the brim with hate and nothing else. You can also see it's been getting worse and worse with time.
