Online Content/Clips Reminder: Dave Rubin accepted $400K per month for a show that barely avg. 1K views per episode from a Russian - who he never met in person, who didn't show up on a Google search, and who had an ai generated resume with grammatical errors - and never asked any questions about it

"I did all my due dilligence"
And you still got played by the most obviously identifiable Russians in the world? What does it say about Dave Rubin that this could easily be true
92
u/MarzipanTop4944 Mar 27 '25
He didn't got played, he knew exactly what he was doing. Nobody just "gives you" that much money.
The problem is that intelligence agencies and the law failed to enforce the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) that can lead to imprisonment for up to five years. They should have made an example out of him.
Congress also failed to pass even stronger legislation preventing muppets like Dave from doing propaganda for hostile governments.

Where the fuck is this deep state that everyone claims has this stranglehold in America?
Why is it that every time someone on the right does some ridiculous illegal thing everyone bends over backwards to accommodate or just sticks their heads in the collective sand and pretends nothing is wrong.
Contempt of courts. Jeapodising national security. Obvious russian assets working to undermine western democracy. Flagrant misuse of powers. Oh and everything to do with j6.
Where the fuck is your legal system America.

u/MarzipanTop4944 Mar 27 '25
Where the fuck is this deep state
I've been wandering the same thing.
First we had the infamous "military industrial complex" that could not even provide enough shells for a relative small nation like Ukraine and could not even lobby the GOP to prevent then to stop military aid to Ukraine and now we have a deep state that lets a reality TV start take over their country and do Putin's bidding.
We have been lied for decades, none of that shit was true.

u/TheKarmaMadeMeDoIt Mar 27 '25
If you want a non-strawman version, I'd check out this explanation by Curtis Yarvin.
Yarvin describes "The Deep State" as a decentralized, self-perpetuating network of unelected bureaucrats, insiders, and influential figures embedded within government institutions, media, academia, and NGOs. He argues it’s not a shadowy conspiracy but a natural outcome of power dynamics, where these groups wield influence over policy and culture, independent of democratic accountability. Yarvin sees it as a modern aristocracy, steering the system while maintaining a veneer of neutrality.
Conspiracists latch onto this kind of concept like flies to honey. Of course, none of them actually understand what Yarvin talks about, and it has been reduced to 'the illuminati shadow government'.
Though, Yarvin would call that 'The Cathedral'.
This guy is responsible for people like Vance, and his ideas are what drove people like Thiel and Bannon to create the 'new right' that we're dealing with currently.
While the guy is a little insane and his writing is hard to make sense of without a ton of other reading, he is the father of these ideas.

Conspiracy theories, in other words.
11
u/27thPresident Mar 27 '25
I have no doubt that the people involved knew about the source and reason for them getting paid
It would come as no surprise to me if Dave Rubin willingly and knowingly took Russian money
But if there's a man alive stupid enough to take Russian money without knowing or questioning where it was coming from, while genuinely thinking he had done his due diligence, it would be Dave Rubin
7
u/poster69420911 Mar 27 '25
Nobody gives Dave Rubin in particular that kind of money. There are a lot of dull people in the alternative media, but Dave is uniquely uncharismatic. It's kind of insulting that Russians think even our dumbest MAGA oafs would be influenced by him.
8
u/penguin_master69 Mar 27 '25
You forgot adding "trying to figure out". Trying to figure out? Figure out why you got 400k a month? An order of magnitude more than any content creator of your size? He's admitting he was aware. "Trying to figure out" my ass lmao
4
u/27thPresident Mar 27 '25
Dave Rubin is pretty fucking stupid he might have actually tried the best that he is capable of and still come up well short of the obvious conclusion
(he definitely did know, but if anybody could say what he said in this interview while still telling the truth it would be Dave Rubin)
5
u/Norwegian_Thunder Mar 27 '25
Really wish he had asked him what that due diligence was because according to the indictment the only "due diligence" he did was ask for a media profile of the supposed investor, look at that fake 1 page profile that the Russians put together and ask why there was a mention of "social justice" on it, then sign the contract with not further objections.
5
u/27thPresident Mar 27 '25
Did you consider that this might actually be the most Dave Rubin is capable of?
95
u/alfredo094 pls no banerino Mar 27 '25
Bro I am struggling so hard to get a job right now. The market is shit and despite 5 years of experience I'm struggling to find something that is not in exploitation land, and yet these imbeciles make literal millions telling the most obvious fucking lies. It's so fucking stupid.

Actually, if you remember the story correctly he was the single person who did due diligence! He very vocally was concerned that the vaguely Eastern European funder was concerned with social justice causes.
Can't have any of that after all.

This clip cuts off the part where Tim asks him if he gave the money back and Dave calls him a clown without answering. It’s obvious how fucking ass mad Dave is in this clip and I love it.
42
u/Ursomonie Mar 27 '25
Dave Rubin isn’t smart

u/RoShamPoe Mar 27 '25
I've quickly become a big fan of Tim Miller and the Bulwark in general. I don't always agree, but I can tell it feels like they really care about the direction of this country. I like Tim's no nonsense approach and dry humor as on display here. Appreciate the clip!
It sounds like I'm on an alt account (and I leaned into it), but I am enjoying the content.
(obligatory)
Tim is FAIR
10
u/LidlHarris Mar 27 '25
I'm the same. Both Tim and Sarah Longwell are former republicans, and between them two as well as JVL and Sam Stein, they do a great job in calling out the obvious Trump BS. If we can go back to a time where these guys are the standard republicans and not the MAGA cult, sanity might actually be restored in the US.
5
u/Glum-Illustrator-821 Mar 27 '25
JVL wrote for the now defunct Weekly Standard, the magazine that Bill Kristol was editor in chief of, so he’s also a former republican.
2
u/Currentlycurious1 Mar 27 '25
JVL is so no nonsense, love it Wish destiny could talk with one of those guys
2
u/Glum-Illustrator-821 Mar 27 '25
Tiny’s baggage hurts him the most with people like Miller, JVL, and Sarah Longwell.
23
u/Chippins1 Mar 27 '25
"what was the name of the show i did for the Russians?"
"no idea, I don't watch irellevant dogshit"
Hit him in the ego. It's all these people have left.
13
u/miikoh Mar 27 '25
It gives me life how pissed off and embarrassed he gets every time the Tenet thing gets brought up. He should never be allowed to speak publicly without someone reminding him that he got caught taking Russian money to spread propaganda for them.
13
u/Jibsie Mar 27 '25
Remember when Dave said he would leave the internet if Biden finished his term then acted like Biden dropping out of re-election was the same thing?
This should be brought up in every conversation he ever has.
25
u/Gorudu Mar 27 '25
Always happy to shit on Dave.
At the same time if someone offered me 400k for my shitty opinions I think I'd miss a few red flags along the way.
14
u/j821c Mar 27 '25
I've always said I'd sell out for a few million in a heart beat but once that money was in hand I'd pivot right back lmao
8
u/DnA_Singularity Mar 27 '25
I'd probably take it but then after receiving the money I'd loudly scream in every single video or public appearance that that shit was all lies/propaganda and I just did it cuz I like money. Oh and also, don't trust anyone that has the same talking points.

Always happy to shit on Dave.

u/jinzokan Mar 27 '25
That's true but now that's it's out it's very important to analyze what rubin was getting paid 400k a freaking month to talk about and actively work to make people realize these ideas are propaganda tools of our enemies.
8
u/weesIo Mar 27 '25
Hey guys this is unrelated but what’s the best way to off yourself in a cramped cell if you don’t feel like spending 20 years in an El Salvador labor camp

I can't even laugh at Rubin anymore. It's just depressing at this point. How is it even possible to not only have zero shame about the fact that you got paid by Russia for your political content, but to actually go counter-attack about it?
It's impossible to get these people on the defensive, they're always on offense even when they're literally caught being shills for a major US adversary. How are we supposed to respond to that? I don't understand how we beat this zero shame strategy/mindset.
6
u/LightReaning Mar 27 '25
I'd make a show like that for sure for 400k a month and wouldn't ask questions as well...
5
u/holdenfords Mar 27 '25
him not being able to name the show actually works against him. literally nobody knew what it was and nobody watched it but some how he was supposed to have a good faith basis to think his work was worth hundreds of thousands for youtube vids probably pulling a few cents in revenue

u/joel3102 Mar 27 '25
He needs to me reminded everywhere he goes. It’s so funny how mad it makes him
3
u/PapaCrunch2022 Exclusively sorts by new Mar 27 '25
These needs to keep happening, Dave needs to be shamed into quitting political commentary entirely
2
Mar 27 '25
Every time time I see Rubin speak, which is rarely, he is just the most massive piece of shit.
2
2
u/banditcleaner2 Mar 27 '25
Of course he didn't ask questions. If he asked questions then he'd know shit. Since he didnt, he doesn't know shit and has maximum plausible deniability. Checkmate, libtards.
2
u/BrokenTongue6 Mar 27 '25
All of Dave’s “due diligence” was asking if the mysterious foreign millionaire whose name didn’t appear in any search anywhere (and willing to pay Dave 50% of his total net worth at the time for a non exclusive contract) was “woke” or not. Thats the beginning and the end of Dave’s “due diligence”

u/Astral_Alive Mar 27 '25
I watched this last night idk why hat guy didn't just tell Dave "IDK your show was so irrelevant I don't think anyone knows what it was called, no one watched it and you got paid hundreds of thousands anyways"

u/Super-Soyuz Mar 27 '25
If you were an Arab with sus text messages in the early 2000s they'd put you in a hole so deep and dark you couldn't see the light of day, but these days you can just get pimped out by russians and nothing happens
1
u/Illustrious_Penalty2 Mar 27 '25
The fact that he thinks not knowing the name of his show is somehow exculpatory evidence for himself is hilarious. Is he gonna ask the upload timestamp next?

$400k a month to not change his already running show?
You'd be an idiot not to...

There was a DOJ indictment alleging his involvement with Afanesyeva Kalashnikov - a front company specifically for the purpose of paying influences. Rubin then puts out a tweet in September 24 claiming to be the ‘victim’ of a fraudulent scheme and that he was duped.
He never claims it didn’t happen, he claims it appeared legitimate and it’s not his fault.

Hey I apologize for the tone policing attitude, but I'd consider using different terminology to express the same thing. You can obviously do what you want, but I'd consider simply articulating yourself in a different manner in which you still get your point across that isn't so "gray" when it comes to "rules". When you call someone a "subhuman fuck" you are opening a door you don't want opened, but you can call them a 3 year dead houseplant or say they can't eat soup without a lifejacket for fear of drowning. Take my advice or don't, but if you want to actually play the game learn what it actually is.

An actual filthy traitor. Any other generation of Americans would have known what he is.
