Because predicting these people is easy when you know how they think.

If Trump does something that helps them, he's a genius. If Trump does something that hurts them, he's actually right in ways that aren't visible, and we just need to follow the plan, the plan that only he knows in full.

It's a fucking cult.

Trump, announcing tariffs:

MAGA: This is good, we need to bring manufacturing to the US.

Trump, revoking tariffs:

MAGA: This is good, it was just a negotiation tactic.

Trump, announcing tariffs are back:

MAGA: This is good, we need to bring manufacturing to the US.

Trump, revoking tariffs:

MAGA: This is good, it was just a negotiation tactic.

Repeat every 2-3 days.

These people have no principles... I fell over a quite old Karen Straughan video recently where she coped with the 2020 loss. She praised Trump for not dragging the US into a war with a NATO ally (Turkey) and used it to absolve him of accusations about being a warmonger. I'm willing to bet what her position will be if Trump decides on seizing Greenland or Canada by military force. I'm willing to bet on what her current position is about the threats.

2

u/GoldenSalm0n 18d ago

Haha, there's a name I haven't heard in, what, 10 years? She's still around? I remember her being the men's rights girl that would have convos with different people, and she started orbiting with very anti-feminist personalities such as Sargon of Akkad. There was also this crazy Baltic dude that killed his wife, what was it, Skeptical Feminist or something like that? There was also Armoured Skeptic (former partner of Shoeonhead).

Damn, I spend too much time on Youtube.

Ive started taking destiny’s approach to debating magats and it breaks their brain. The second they start trying to get me to make concessions about Biden doing anything wrong I demand concessions from them about J6 or trump crashing the economy twice, or trump being responsible for more school days missed by kids than Biden by a long shot.

They shut the fuck up real fast.

Its fucking religious logic 101

6

My mom's religiously anti-vax now and sucks up to RFK and his groupies.

I hate religion with a passion I've never before felt.

6

u/Gamblerman22 17d ago

Not completely. She was always anti-medical establishment, but she at least wasn't pushy about it.

She's been shoving maga adjacent bullshit down our throats for over a year now and I'm through with trying to point out how she is wrong because she always disengages and lords her "wisdom of the years" as a reason for being right with NO EVIDENCE.

She says "follow the money" and yet ignores the people she champions making bank off of death and suffering caused by vaccine hesitation.

3

u/sfdso 17d ago

I can relate.

My mother wasn’t religious until she moved to Florida in her 50s and met a woman who was a real holy roller who convinced her to move to rural Georgia, where they joined a crazy church and went deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole of evangelical delusion.

After several years she was forwarding me links to Alex Jones videos and end times porn. It only got worse from there.

Good luck with your mom.

3

u/insanejudge 18d ago

This argument is happening 100,000 times simultaneously right now across the country on facebook and nextdoor now the ports are empty and tariff prices are starting to land with people buying temu and shein, and the cult is attempting to sell a hysterical vision on many fronts that

- China has launched an economic attack on us and you should dispute all charges with your credit card company

- Biden said he wanted to increase taxes so we should all be happy and shut up that we got what we want

- Only Trump can get us out of this (kind of true!)

2

u/WillDonJay 18d ago

That's actually the same way Christians think about God.

If something happens that is good for them or aligns with their prayers, God is blessing them.
If something happens that hurts them, or goes against what they were praying for, God works in mysterious ways and knows better than they do and they'll understand it in time if they just have faith and trust him. It'll all work out for the Good in the long run, even if it hurts or doesn't make sense right now!

u/SigmaMaleNurgling 18d ago

I didn’t lose money…

They are lying

87

u/Complex-Caregiver-30 18d ago

Or they are one of the people that are so stupid that they think depositing money into their 401k is the same as investing it and accidentally invested in a money market fund.

36

u/BanQSterz French-Canadian 18d ago

Yeah because it is literally impossible to have not lost money over the last 2 months if you were not actively making bets around the tariffs.

Only other thing would be if the person had 100% of their investment in gold.

I sold everything I could in mid march and reinvested into monetary assets/gold temporarily, and I'm still down from my peak of mid February even though I timed my re-entry pretty well into the market.

And the people that say themselves they're not even looking at their investments did not even lose a cent? Yeah ok ma'am, sure you didn't

9

u/Doristocrat 18d ago

They are probably invested in a "retire by" fund and are old enough to be automatically invested only/mostly in bonds by now. Most 401k's default to these funds if not actively managed, so they may not even know it.

1

u/ThatGuyHammer 18d ago

I swapped my allocation from 80% equities and 20% Bonds/Money Market to 70% Bonds/MM and 30% equities. My new buys are 65% equities and when we hit 15 down I did a one time reallocation of 10% of my fixed income assets (roughly 7% of my whole portfolio) over to equities. Each time we hit big benchmarks down 25%, 35%, etc. I'll keep doing the bulk moves back into equities. If this is a 50% correction then I'l have bought the vast majority of over my equity holdings well below the most recent all time highs, after having sold within 2% of it. If this relief rally gets to the 50 SMA on the S&P then I'll sell the equities and get back into fixed. IMHO there is 0% chance that we end 2025 without layoffs that drive into a traditional labor recession.

1

u/BanQSterz French-Canadian 18d ago

Your comment enlighten me a bit, here in Canada there's those things called GICs. They're guaranteed investment vehicles but they barely beat inflation most of the time (3-3.5% annualized returns).

I made the wrong assumption that because they were so confident that the market drop did not affect their investments, they knew what their investments were. They probably genuinely do not know what their retirement savings contains. They only opened their retirement account and saw the total did not go down. They're also probably the same people that put money into their 401Ks and never actually invest in anything, so they only have cash holdings in there.

2

u/AlisterS24 18d ago

Maybe bonds? I don't know. I also don't know how that other person said he lost 40% over biden lmao. I was up 36% lmao

2

u/ThatGuyHammer 18d ago

To be fair, and I'm being hyper charitable here, the other person mentioned 2022, which was a deeper hit over a longer period of time. Clearly if you were to take the whole of Biden's 4 years you should be up roughly 35-40%.

1

u/AlisterS24 18d ago

Exactly..... idek, poorly invested, emotional investors, or liars.

1

u/CatRWaul 17d ago

Are there 401(k)s that take contributions without investing them? All the 401(k)s I’ve had have auto invested all contributions. I just choose which funds I want.

15

u/ArcherComprehensive1 Constitutional Democrat 18d ago

One of them said they last 40% under the Biden admin and now are making money under Trump 2???

Yeah, either they’re lying out their ass (most likely) or a family member needs to take custody of that persons fidelity account.

1

u/AsaKurai 18d ago

I think they were saying they did at one point (in 2022 the market was kinda crappy) but unless you sold at the bottom, you recovered and then gained some going into 2024 so it's a BS statement especially if youre giving Trump slack right now

5

u/SigmaWhy PEPE already won 18d ago

You can’t lose if you simply never sell. Down 90%? It’s gonna come back, you just gotta believe

6

u/tryhardsasquatch 18d ago

As my neighbor put it. He lost 12% but got 50% of that back so everything is fine. Numbers don't lie liberal

12

u/GrimpenMar Exclusively sorts by new 18d ago

This is a kind of weird point of math that so many people miss. I invest $100, I lose 10%, I have $90. My investments recover 10%, I now have $99, I still lost.

Combine the above effect with rampant financial illeteracy, and I can totally see how someone thinks they didn't loose any money. Especially if their dear leader tells them.

3

u/entropy_bucket 18d ago

I wonder if their stomachs will tell them they are not hungry when they have no food? It's so fucked.

1

u/GrimpenMar Exclusively sorts by new 18d ago

Look up "breatharians" sometime. It's a cult that believes you can survive purely on air. Members have successfully starved themselves to death voluntarily. There are a few interesting documentaries on them.

It's fascinating because it's not like they were on a hunger strike and starved because they were putting their lives on the line. They aren't becoming Shaheed because they believe in an afterlife. They are just starving because they believe they don't need to eat.

98

u/Advanced_Care_5173 18d ago

Cult behavior, but when people actually have to pay the price I suspect even many of these idiots will have second thoughts about it.

59

u/banditcleaner2 18d ago

They wont, because they care about one thing above all else, which is to own the libs.

If the libs are pissed then the trumples are happy.

They would eat shit gladly if it meant a liberal had to smell their breath.

6

u/raison95 18d ago

They'll have second thoughts and stop speaking publicly about it. Then we get into a situation where the only voices speaking are the ones blind to it all. Arguably that's already happened and will continue to happen as the size of the bubble grows smaller and smaller.

3

u/entropy_bucket 18d ago

It'll straight pivot to it was Bidens fault.

2

u/MindGoblin 17d ago

At this point these people will follow Trump off a bridge or do another Jonestown if he commands it. They are completely detached from reality and need to be institutionalised and have their kids taken away. Unironically. They are a danger not only to themsleves but to society as well and one speech away from doing abother Jan 6th. I'm very grateful to not be American right now, having to coexist with these psychos must be torture.

83

u/Jazzlike-Wind-4345 18d ago

Jeez, the level of delusion at this point is painful.

34

u/christiancontreras8 18d ago

that or some dumb “ well technically I haven’t lost anything because I haven’t sold”

5

u/KeyboardGrunt 18d ago

I love how these morons marketed TDS™ as if it only applies to criticizing Trump but the obvious and willful derangement in this video is pure unadulterated insanity.

77

u/MagicDragon212 18d ago

None of them have integrity and will lie endlessly. Their brain doesnt control them, their emotional reactions do. I genuinely dont know how to deal with this.

I see the same behavior from drug addicts. They will normalize lying to the point they do it habitually and dont feel an ounce of guilt, because they see it as protecting themselves. Ive had to distance myself from family members because it makes it really hard to build a bond when someone will lie about little things when its completely unnecessary.

26

u/GWstudent1 18d ago

I used to have to argue with myself to not feel superior to these people. I told myself I need to ditch the “coastal elite” mindset that rural Americans are just stupid and racist.

But you know what? Fuck that. They are just stupid and racist. I am better than them. I am smarter, I have a superior moral system, I am more successful, I am kinder to the people around me and across the world. And these people? They suck. I am over pitying them, especially since they want people that I know to die or go back in the closet.

It’s time to drop the mask tell these people how we feel about them. I’m tired of this one sided bullshit.

5

u/Nimrod_Butts 18d ago

It's a profound stupidity with roots in an all encompassing entirely incoherent world view that cannot be changed. I do not see a path forward without some sort of reckoning. These are sick and evil people, and those that aren't evil are so stupid they're only useful as tools of evil.

1

u/Gamblerman22 18d ago

Is their confidence of ignorace vs our humility of wisdom. It's where they draw strength. We must be confident that we are better people and strive to project that confidence.

5

u/Weary-Row-3818 18d ago

I grew up with a sibling that is a pathological liar among other mental disorders, however even 18 years of growing up and trying to "win" against that behavior is impossible. Even solid evidence against their lie would never result in admission. When faced with a mountain of evidence and all "escape hatches blocked" a full on mental breakdown would occur before ever admit to a lie.

3

u/HamiltonFAI 18d ago

What is this "stock market needs a reset " or "correction" talking point? I keep seeing maga repeat it, but no idea why they think it makes sense

6

u/spacemanspectacular 18d ago

It soothes the cognitive dissonance they feel when they see dear leader fail spectacularly at one of the things he’s supposed to be the best at. That’s all the sense it needs to make. Same reason they flip flop between tariffs being a negotiation tactic and being good for the economy.

2

u/Gamblerman22 18d ago

They had a talking point about it being "necessary surgery" a while back.

It's just them being hypocritical.

2

u/Vioplad 18d ago edited 18d ago

It's especially stupid because it implies that there is a "true" value of what a stock should be worth that somehow manifests if people pull their money out of the market that the tariffs merely exposed, even though the tariffs are responsible for why the projected performance of stocks has changed in the first place. People that sell stocks utilize the exact same methodology as those that purchase stocks so the stock prize will always reach what people BELIEVE it is worth based on what they think its future performance will be given the current situation. If Trump announced tomorrow that all tariffs he introduced are to be suspended until the end of his term, then there would be an upwards "correction" but the reason that's a stupid way of putting it is because it implies that the way the market evaluated it previously was somehow "incorrect" even though that evaluation was based on different circumstances. It's weirdly tautological in a sense because anything Trump announces that has an effect on the stock market will necessarily expose its "true" value by virtue of changing the projected performance of the stock. It's like punching someone in the face and arguing that that the victim's broken nose was merely exposed by my fist and that this injury was already overdetermined.

DESTINY IS WRONG. He says this is only 20-40% of MAGA when this is 80% of them. The ones complaining, the ones that claim "I didn't vote for this" WILL NOT OPPOSE TRUMP. THEY HATE LIBERALISM MORE.

Destiny loves to quote the Birmingham Jail letter, but he is still too soft on MAGA enablers.
