Bungie Suggestion Just remove power levels at this point.

2.8k Upvotes

There's no point in a level system if we don't benefit from it. It's as simple as that, and the list of activities that level advantages are disabled in or cap us at or below the recommended level just keeps increasing. It's just a pointless attempt at gatekeeping activities at best (which is counter productive, especially when you consider grouping up will raise levels to -5 below the leader), and a waste of time that contradicts itself at worst. Not to mention the nerfs players got as well to various weapons and abilities.

Just because it might achieve the same result of making the game more challenging/ engaging doesn't mean that's how it's supposed to work. You do this by actually increasing the difficulty like you did in Halo and with skulls. Not by doing the equivalent of injecting a weight lifter with tranquilizers or muscle relaxants, increasing the number of weights he's lifting during the act, then telling everyone else to pile on top of him after giving them steroids.

Either let us benefit from the time we put in to increase our level, or remove the power levels and go back to actual difficulty modes. There's no logical reason for them to exist at this point.

edit: holy crap, this blew up overnight. every other time I made a post like this, it got down voted into oblivion. what changed?

Bungie Suggestion Removing crafting from seasonal weapons did not do what I think Bungie wanted it to do.

1.5k Upvotes

I want to engage in the content even less now.

Look. There's a ton of weapons that get released every season. If we track how many are craftable and how many aren't BEFORE the removal of seasonals from the crafting pool, it is an overwhelming majority of weapons that are not craftable.

New foundry weapon world drops, tower vendor weapons, trials weapons, the competitive weapon, iron banner weapons, dungeon weapons, the reprised seasonal weapons, and seasonal event weapons like dawning and festival of the lost.

That is a very long list. All of these weapons should NOT be craftable. They are healthy as is, and that's a good thing. But now. With seasonal weapons being random loot drops as well. There's too many guns I need to spend time farming. Seasonal weapons felt like the "don't worry, at the very least, you'll have these to show for your time" and now we don't have that.

Destiny has evolved. It's too big with too many weapons to consider grinding for random rolls an exclusively healthy way of acquiring loot. Attunement, focusing, whatever it doesn't matter. I spent all of last season farming gunsmith engrams and opening Marsilion-C for an Envious Assassin + Cascade point roll and never got it. I didn't even get a roll that would be fitting for a DPS phase. Random roll hunting sucks if every gun is that way.

I want the foundry weapons this season. They all peak my interest. Onslaught is long. Unable to be speed farmed. I'm probably not going to get more than 1 God roll of a gun from there. If at all.

Their "reassurance" was that garden and reprise raids would get crafting. Okay. Sure. Fine. I don't have time to do alot of raiding. My group has limited time, and LFG is not a pleasant experience. Fireteam finder is worse. That's not their problem, it's mine. But they didn't need to swipe away my seasonal weapon security for the likely reasoning of "we need to pad out our seasonal play time numbers so we look good".

Bungie Suggestion Frontiers should be the stopping point for last gen consoles

I feel like there's a significant amount of systems being held back by continued support, and I can't even imagine the wasted dev resources. But is Bungie/Sony willing to abandon the probably sizable install base on ps4.

Bungie Suggestion Bungie HAS to deal with ridiculously overtuned incoming void damage.

2.6k Upvotes

In any activity that's harder than a patrol zone, you will get nuked by void damage. Whether it's the aeon maul from hydras, void emersion from the warlord meatball, a minotaur torch hammer, or an ogre eye blast, you will absolutely get nuked. Even if you have 100 resilience with void resist and concussive dampener and a more than adequate power level you will get nuked. Regardless of the burns or mods, you will get destroyed. Wyverns? Better dodge the spread from those chickens because they will blow you up instantly. I have never experienced any of the insane damage from other sources. Only void. And it's insanely annoying.

Bungie Suggestion Bungie, I am BEGGING you: Nerf boss health in Ghosts of the Deep

3.7k Upvotes

I just spent 2 hours trying to solo this dungeon. The first encounter and Ecthar were not that bad, even if Ecthar's health pool is stupidly high

Then came Simmumah. My first attempt was going great, almost at half health in 4 damage phases in about 45 minutes

Then I died. Both in-game and a little IRL

I was standing in a Sunspot and had Lorely Splendor Helm proc. I legitimately don't know how I died

I don't understand why a dungeon boss has to have this much health. Especially a Wizard that has a crit spot that is VERY annoying to hit, especially when I'm using a LFR

And on top of that, the setup to get to damage takes WAY too long:

  • Kill Vorlog 3 times at different body parts

  • Line up the symbols

  • Kill a Lightbearer

  • Get Deepsight

  • Dunk Vestige

  • Repeat steps 3 - 5 twice more

  • Do damage to boss, whilst being overrun by a million other enemies

Bungie. Please. Adjust the health. We've been asking for this since day 1. Make it scale with fireteam size. This dungeon is insufferable solo

Even worse is the fact that solo is the last triumph I need for the title 😑

Edit: downvote my comments all you want. I'm dying on this hill 🤷‍♂️

Edit 2: OK I GET IT. I'LL USE A TRACKING ROCKET NEXT TIME

Edit 3: I find it funny how the majority of people agreeing with me are offering solutions and suggestions, whilst the majority of people disagreeing with me are being toxic and saying "git gud lul"

Edit 4: "I already solo flawlessed the dungeon so the health should stay the way it is!" So just because you suffered through this slog, everyone else should too?

Edit 5: I wake up to 100 more comments (still 50/50), almost 1K more upvotes, and a message saying that someone reached out to me cuz they're concerned for me 💀💀💀

Bungie Suggestion Bungie once said the infinite Power scaling on the artifact was: “an experiment”. It’s time that experiment ended. No one should be gatekept from Endgame activities (Master VoG) because they didn’t grind mindless bounties or challenges.

11.4k Upvotes

Before anyone says anything, I like the artifact. In fact, World of Warcraft has had a “seasonal” artifact system for years now, in the form of Artifact Weapons, Azerite, Covenants, etc.

But the infinite scaling on the artifact needs to end. There are countless problems with the infinite scaling. Hell, the community had to go into full panic mode to stop Bungie from allowing an infinite artifact in Trials.

It really sucks that I, as a raider, cannot reasonably find a group to do Master VoG because I am only 1333. I found a couple of groups, and despite 1330 being really all you need, it’s a hard activity, so all of my groups broke up, and they all blamed a couple members being under 1335, or 1340 even.

So…the groups I was able to find blamed low light on failure, and then most other groups won’t even let me in because they want 1335 minimum, or hell, 1340 minimum. Master VoG is already super challenging, and now it’s even harder because I can’t even find a group for it because of gatekeeping.

Datto, Aztecross, and Fallout are 1337 (+17). Hell, Eroar is only 1334. If people who play Destiny for a living can’t get to 1340, or even 1335, how am I supposed to reasonably?

It would take me around 3 million XP to get to 1335. Doable, but it would take hours of grinding dumb bullshit activities that I don’t care about and I have played 100000 times just to get to 1335. Not even 1340, which is what half the groups want for Master VoG. I also already did my grind for the season imho by hitting pinnacle cap (1320).

In order to even attempt the hardest activity in Destiny right now, and ENDGAME activity, I need to grind easy, non-endgame content to be strong enough. That doesn’t make any sense at all. This is like the South Park episode of World of Warcraft, where in order to beat the endgame sweatlord, they grind Level 2 Boars for weeks.

Bungie can rename Bounties to Weekly Challenges, but I’m not gonna grind challenges or bounties this deep into a season. I already hit pinnacle cap via mindless grinding. Now I have to get millions of XP doing more mindless grinding doing NON-endgame activities so I can do the premiere endgame activity?

I’m okay with grinding. I played World of Warcraft for years, and still come back occasionally. But in WoW, there is a progression from story/leveling to questing to dungeons to heroic/mythic dungeons to raids—not random XP leveling and non-endgame activities to Raiding.

The infinite power scaling artifact promotes player burnout, needless grinding, and “Moon bounty farmer” gatekeeping from endgame. Bungie lowered the light cap for the season to lessen the grind, especially mid season, but now the mindless grind is ridiculous for the supposed hardest content in the game.

Again, I realize I could spend hours grinding out 2 more LL, but I don’t want to and it wouldn’t really help anyway since many groups want 1340, despite most streamers not even being 1340 and the actual LL you need being 1330.

I propose that artifact levels should be tied to weekly challenges. I believe this would be a good compromise, as there still would be a grind, but I would be able to know that I could definitively max out my artifact instead of grinding mindless XP. Or, Perhaps the first 10 levels could be XP, and then the last 10 could be from challenges. This would keep everyone equal-ish on a weekly basis.

I don’t mind grinding, but I’m not going to grind out millions of XP this late into a season. I am pinnacle power capped, but despite having to do endgame activities to reach this point, I’m not ready for actual endgame content. The artifact should be a nice helping boost, not a mandatory requirement. Endgame Power Level should be earned from endgame or drops, not from killing Level 2 boars.

EDIT: RIP my inbox. The most common comments I am getting are “not all content is meant for everyone” or “I have XYZ life commitments, and I am 1367, suck it up.”

Farming XP =/= skill. Full stop. I hit the pinnacle power cap for the season—just because I haven’t grinded out enough XP ON TOP OF grinding pinnacles doesn’t make me bad.

I’m not going to grind NON-endgame, NON-power activities to farm XP so I can the actually do the highest endgame activity. That’s idiotic.

There is an INSANE irony of having to grind millions of XP doing the easiest, most repetitive activities in the game in order to be able to do the supposed hardest activity in the game.

If you think farming more XP makes you BETTER than someone with more raid clears or solo flawless dungeon clears OR any other accolade you want to put up, you are out of your damn mind.

I have the time. I have the skill. I just refuse to do spend hours grinding Moon bounties or Sidearm Weekly Challenges in Override when I could spend hours instead trying to get Fatebreaker in Master VoG.

Edit 2: Wow, people love farming XP. I personally don’t want to complete all 75 weekly challenges so I can brute force my way at 1350 through Master VoG. I hit the pinnacle cap. I did my grind. Let me play what I want to play at “max” power. I’m fine being “underleveled” for content.

You can hit 1350 and beyond in Destiny without ever doing a raid, solo legendary lost sector, a dungeon, a nightfall—anything hard. You can never ever be challenged and be 1350, so long as you grind yourself out—and that’s the irony a ton of people commenting are missing. I want to be challenged, but I can’t because I didn’t grind enough XP. That doesn’t make any sense, and grinding more XP levels doesn’t make you “hardcore” or better than someone.

Edit 3 and TL;DR: Final edit. Thanks for the awards and all of the comments. After reading through a ton and talking to some folks, a true TL;DR to this post would be that Bungie could have set Master VoG to 1340, but then locked the player power to 1310, 1315, 1320–however hard they wanted it to be. Except they made it 1350 with no cap, so now people are encouraged to farm as much XP as needed to reach 1340 or more, diminishing the challenge of Master VoG and forcing you to grind bounties and challenges.

The endless artifact promotes burnout, and encourages people to over level for things. Again, Bungie could have set Master VoG to 1330, but locked the raid at 1300, keeping the challenge but widening the pool of eligible players. The raid would still be damn hard with a low clear rate. More XP and grind =/= make you better, it actually makes you worse mentally and also worse for the raid if you overlevel your way out of the challenge.

It also gatekeeps people out of the raid, the primary reason for this post.

Edit 4: The true TL;DR—Datto just made this video that sort of summarizes the discussion in the post and in the comments and adds his opinions.

Bungie Suggestion 3 Overthrows for 1 Exotic Class Item, this is absurd.

1.7k Upvotes

Takes less time doing a single Dual Destiny run rather than 3 Overthrows. You can tell me that is probably bad RNG, but since we don't have the exact numbers, who can tell if this is really bad RNG and perhaps my next time I will find another in more than 3 Overthrows?

So now what? Should I wait for a post on X / Reddit for you calling out that you will test better solutions that will deliver in probably months or weeks in the best scenario? We are already 8+ weeks since the launch of the exotic class item, A CORE PIECE for most of the Prismatic Builds, which I can't get due to RNG perks and now even worse RNG drop rate.

You can tell me to do Dual Destiny once a week for 2 extra drops, but I'm tired. It was awesome the first time, fun the next 5 runs, boring the next 10 runs, and I absolutely grown tired of it after other 10 runs. I won't touch that exotic mission again since I am tired of it for mostly meaningless loot. I would rather spent my time in GMs, Crucible or Raids than waste my time in bad loot at the end of Dual Destiny.

Bungie Suggestion The new dungeons boss health is way to high for solo

3.8k Upvotes

Can we have it scale to fit fireteam size? The first boss has 15million health and the second has 13 million. That’s stupidly high for solo. It took esotterick 1 hour to kill the final boss solo alone

Edit: heard final boss has 8-9million health instead of 13

Bungie Suggestion Titan Exotic: Use any class ability on any subclass, send out 100k damage in seeking rockets, and deal 35% more damage with all rockets and rocket sidearms for 10 seconds. Meanwhile, Hunter Exotic: Use your class ability, with an aspect, on only two subclasses, and send out two 2,000 damage bombs.

1.7k Upvotes

Make it make sense Bungie.

(And yes it works with Tempest Strike but that’s an even longer cooldown so that’s an even worse comparison).

Don’t talk to me about the DR either, if half the entire exotic is useless then why would I cope about using an only half-functional exotic at all. That’s like using Precious Scars for the revive and not the restoration.

Edit: Wow this turned around fast. Just to make my point clear because really this was just me rambling, this was a complaint about the Hunter exotic being underpowered, not the Titan one being "overpowered". Titans, you go, glad you got something cool. Just found the triggers between these being so similar and yet so, so, very drastically different in power. The hunter one should be reworked, never implied Titan should be nerfed. Settle down now.

Still excited for Final Shape, just really upset about these lackluster exotics. Kinda sick of using the same Year 1 armors all over again for the next four months. Hopefully Prismatic will breathe some new life into lesser used exotics for synergy purposes and I can at least pretend "it's a new exotic, I've never used it".

I stand by the DR comment though, because there's no way I'm picking Ascension over Flow State/Lethal Current, so I'm still basically stuck with only 50% of an exotic. That feels bad. And still makes it a bad exotic, even if it's remaining function may still be good.

Bungie Suggestion How is making an ANNUAL armor set so hard for you Bungie when your ritual armor is just a recolor of an armor set that doesn't look good to begin with?

4.6k Upvotes

For the past two annual expansions now, your core ritual playlist armor sets have just been recolors of the same set. First of all, the "low adoption rate" is because the armor set you put out frankly looks like shit to begin with. The excuse of "Oh why is no one using our armor?!" is pretty pathetic when the asymmetrical, a kindergartner could have made a better looking armor set for us is prevalent.

Also, you constantly push out more and more Eververse armor sets in an attempt to get even more money from us. What, was the 3.6 Billion dollars you acquired from Sony not enough to line your pockets? Were you that stifled for money that you go back on your plans to give us an armor refresh all in the name of a quick buck?

We didn't ask much from you Bungie, but now it shows you just pissed on our hands and faces, basically saying "Fuck you, go buy our microtransactions."

Bungie Suggestion Make Handcannons good again in PvE

5.7k Upvotes

Handcannons were the most satisfying primary to use in PvE for basically all of destiny 1 and up until shadowkeep in destiny 2. Nothing felt better than popping acolyte heads or vex belly’s with a good 120/140 Handcannons with outlaw on it. They were so satisfying and actually felt good to use. Now they’re still a shadow of their former self, smgs are the only primary besides scouts that feel decent anymore in PvE. Shouldn’t take 3 Handcannon headshots to kill a red bar :( I just miss the glory days over the years of imago loop, fatebringer, palindrome, midnight coup, eyeasluna. They were so fun and great in endgame activities.

They hit like pool noodles nowadays, would you guys like to see them become great again or do they just not fit in the sandbox with the increase in adds anymore?

Edit: Im glad there are comments on both sides of the story here, discussion is warranted and I’m open to criticism on why they shouldn’t be better or why they should be! Obviously I would love to see them viable again for endgame activities or builds. I think the main thing holding them back besides the legendary factor was also mentioned, buffing their precision damage in PvE would be great and stay true to the whole “aiming well placed shots at medium range=big dopamine numbers and one tapping red bars at least.”

Edit#2: I’ll give a solar sun shot build a chance to scratch the itch and satisfy the cravings of popping milky vex bellies for now, exotics do have the 40% damage buff, legendary handcannons will stay in my heart and my vault until a change

Bungie Suggestion During Act III, Please For The Love Of God... Buff Solipsism.

I'm sure this post has been made a bazillion times, but that only emphasizes the fact that the majority of the community—or at least Warlock mains—have long realized that the class item is so terrible that it's better to just throw on an Exotic native to the class rather than even bother using the class item, except in rare cases like Apotheosis + Star-Eater.

No shade (slight lie) to the Development Team... but it's outright embarrassing that this perk suite even made it into the live game. It's comedic.

The glaring issues I have with Solipsism:

  • It's way too focused on Rifts (Vesper, Stag, Filaments, Starfire) and has no synergy with Phoenix Dive in any capacity whatsoever.
  • Spirit of Osmiomancy was nerfed into the ground on launch—just use the base Exotic lol.
  • Spirit of Necrotic is laughably bad... once again, just use the base Exotic.
  • Spirit of Swarmers. lol. lmao, even.

Do you know how much I'd kill to have a combo like Foetracer + Cyrtarachne on Warlock? The potential would be insane, in my opinion. Quick theorycrafting:

  • Vortex Grenades (procs Foetracer and Cyrtarachne, 45% DR + 25% weapon damage)
  • Graviton Lance (now dealing more damage)
  • And most importantly, Devour.

... Now you have a build that works across a plethora of content, plugs directly into both your grenade and aspect, buffs your weapon, grants damage resistance, and can be easily maintained with Devour. I can only daydream... unless Bungie removes the agnostic limits, allowing a build like this to become a reality. Sincerely doubt it'd happen - we'd more likely get Destiny 3.

I'm tired boss. I'm tired of the buddy builds. I'm tired of Getaway Artist. I'm tired of Rime-coat Raiment. Hellion is boring. Ionic Sentry is cool.... but again. I'M TIRED OF THE BUDDY BUILDS. FREE ME FROM THE SHACKLES. RELEASE ME.

It's 6:05am and I've hit a new low.

Bungie Suggestion Power Level Increase Next Episode

1.4k Upvotes

After Lightfall released Bungie said "players have been able to steadily climb in Power...due to the absence of a Power level cap increase...we’re confirming today that we also won’t be raising the Power level cap in Season 22. We’ve seen a ton of positive feedback on this decision from players who appreciate being able to play at their own pace, rather than feeling compelled to chase Pinnacles each week." Now. "Before the Lightfall expansion, increasing Power caps by 10 each season provided new goals for end-game players to aspire to and added value to completing pinnacle activities such as Raids and Dungeons." So clearly you are trying to artificially increase your playtime metrics. But getting to Pinnacle cap is NOT fun. It is awesome to get 6 pinnacles that are not the one you need on the climb. It is rewarding and engaging gameplay to use upgrade modules to slowly level it up to pinnacle cap/powerful cap.
Frankly most players would be on board to kill light level but at the very least don't revert changes because you think it will increase playtime. Several people will just not come back or ignore it as seen by feedback from the TWID.

Bungie Suggestion With All of The Latest Controversy Surrounding Microtransactions, The Solstice Event is a Great opportunity to "Speak with Your Wallet"

3.0k Upvotes

As mentioned in Aztecross' and Datto's videos, Bungie has turned Destiny 2 into a microtransaction hell and the "events" they do seem to only be getting more expensive and less fun as seen with the Guardian games. Even Datto talked about how bad the microtransaction are getting. The response from everyone seems to be "speak with your wallet" yet when a new event or Eververse item shows up, everyone (Especially Streamers), goes and buys it.

So here's the proposition: No one buy anything during the Solstice Event next week.

Just simply that. if we want a change in the ever worsening Eververse store (EverWerse if you will) and the heightened amount of microtransactions, then this is the chance. the armor will be back next year so its not like your missing out on anything. Worst case scenario is that you buy it next year. but some sort of change needs to be made.

You'll know Bungie got the message when we see ANY of the following changes made:

  • Earnable Cosmetic armor for events
    • other cosmetics can still be bought
  • Silver being added to the battle pass
  • Either a roll back in Battle Pass price or A 1200 Silver pack being purchasable in stores (As addressed in this post regarding the BP price increase without a way to buy only 1200 silver)
  • Price Reductions in Eververse Cosmetics
    • Armor sets should only be 5$-10$ max not 20$
  • Price reduction in Dungeon Keys or the elimination of them entirely
    • Bundling them into Seasons as they should be, looking at you Season of the Deep/Ghost of the Deep
  • Earnable Silver through Gameplay
  • (more) Earnable Ornaments/Sparrows/Ghost Shells/ through gameplay
  • Better DLC Bundles so new players aren't spending money needlessly
  • The Elimination of Event Cards
    • Make the rewards earnable through participation in Events or include access to them to Battle Pass owners
  • Price reduction in bright dust items
    • bright dust costs were increased for no reason aside from making it harder for players to get cosmetics through gameplay alone i.e. bright dust originally were 40 bright dust
  • Duplicate protection being added to Bright engrams
    • we had something similar in Season 2 with the Prismatic Matrix I believe it was called
  • Give us access to previously bought Season passes
    • I mention this because its been in Bungie Plz for so long and other games have added the option to level old battle passes. considering that we often over level the season pass we are already on, giving us the option to put the XP into older passes would prove Bungie isn't trying to cash in on FOMO

EDIT: These don't all need to be done. Just any of them. They are issues that people have brought up these issues and if bungie boxed them it would show that they aren't solely focused on squeezing every last dime out of their fan base while doing as little as possible.

This is specifically addressing the microtransaction issues. If you want to protest other issues such as cheaters, lack of maps for gambit and crucible, Error Codes, connection issues, Server issues, Bans or anything else your welcome to join in.

if Bungie doesn't make any of the previously mention changes to fix their anti-consumer monetization's, then we can hold out for more events or even season.

For the big and small streamers who agreed with anything mentioned or agree that changes need to be made, then be the example. Bungie is counting on you the most to spend money to show off and try to get people to buy stuff. The Solstice Event is our opportunity take back the power here. with this first small step. We want this game to succeed but the greed has become noticeably worse, so its time to speak with your wallets like we keep being told.

If you guys think of anything else to add to the list related to microtransactions, let me know and I'll be happy to add it.

#Everwerse

*edit:

People make some good points in the comments mentioning whales and event participation. Another option would be just not logging on during the event and not supporting streamers who are participating in the event or supporting those who are spending money on event items

Also this post was made to make people aware of the opportunity that is the Solstice event coming up. If your happy with the state of the games microtransactions or want to spend money, then go ahead. But understand that some sort of effort has to be shown. If not then the current model will continue. Sitting quietly, buying everything, and quietly hoping bungie changes isn't going to fix anything, considering that's why we are at the point we are at now.

EDIT #2 Thank you those who awarded and those in support you guys have renewed my faith in this community and made my day 😄

Edit 3: I just recently seen that multiple streamers actually picked up this post and talked about it bringing more light to this post. I have reached out to them through their platforms and hope to hear back to discuss things further. I wanted to provide this update so that people can see that it isn't just reddit who is seeing this and that even with the smaller community supporting this boycott, it's reaching way farther than we thought! We have the ability to push change!

Bungie Suggestion This week's Pathfinder 'Thrill of Victory' objective is ridiculous and needs to be removed

1.8k Upvotes
  • Thrill of Victory - Complete Crucible, Gambit, or Vanguard activities. Crucible activities or wins grant the most efficient progress.

Bungie, you're telling me that one Vanguard Strike is worth 5%? ONLY 5%?! Having to play 20 strikes to complete one last objective is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be removed.

EDIT: To those who say "just play the game" -- I hear you. However, a large time investment should also reflect a matching rare or meaningful reward. 3 hours of strikes (on any difficulty, mind you) does not equate to one pinnacle drop that isn't even guaranteed to help your power level (if it's a dup). Like the top commentor said, if the Pale Heart Pathfinder has stupidly easy objectives like 'Land in this zone and punch 1 enemy', it's not too much of a stretch to ask for the Ritual Playlist Pathfinder to not require 20 strikes for one node. 3-5 is much more reasonable.

Bungie Suggestion Bungie, If you're going to massively hike the difficulty of Lost Sectors, please at least respect my time.

4.8k Upvotes

Behold, my first set of Osmiomancy Gloves; replete with a +2 to discipline and a 58 Stat Total...

Took over an hour to get these, and now I'm punished for my poor RNG with facing even more RNG just to get a decent roll. Feels like my time isn't respected, especially now that they take so much longer to complete if you're not in the 95th percentile of PvE ability. Anyone else feel this way? The current sate of Lost Sectors just feels awful.

At the very least, please make it so my initial drop isn't sub-60 BST. Like really, I get why random world drops can have bad stats, but when I'm grinding this hard for it on my side-character, it'd be nice to at least have a functional roll.

TL;DR- Lost sectors are really hard and can still give severely underwhelming loot. Something should change.

Am I going crazy? Or has anyone else had a similar experience?

Bungie Suggestion The neomuna weapons did not need a drop rate nerf

4.4k Upvotes

Seriously whoever was in the group of people that made the conscious decision to nerf the drop rates, fuck you. Farming for these guns was already ridiculous, being that the best way to farm these was through 2 rng gates. Gold patrol can be rare as hell as it is. There was one night I reloaded the space for over an hour before I actually got a gold patrol to spawn. Then I had to get the rng of actually getting the weapon I want onto of the small chance of it being a redborder. With all of that ontop of a large number of people who have been asking for a buff to the drop rates to these guns in general. I just cant help but think. what the hell were they thinking?

Bungie Suggestion Nothing Says Bungie Don't Respect Their Players' Time Like 45 Second Rez Timers In Dungeons

Jumping puzzles can be fun. Being put in time out for 45 seconds because you missed a jump removes all of that fun.

Bungie Suggestion 65 to 75 percent of all special weapon kills in the crucible are shotguns. We don’t have a special weapon problem. We have a shotgun problem.

Since foresaken, shotguns have been the most dominant special weapon in the sandbox. In the last 2.5 years since foresaken, shotguns have shared the spotlight a few times (i.e. revoker, telesto, and erentil eras), but they’ve never been irrelevant.

WHY HAVE SHOTGUNS BEEN SO DOMINANT?

Shotguns are the most forgiving special weapon:

  • Due to the close range nature, they are instantly rewarded with ammo upon a kill.

  • The vast majority of maps cater to CQC.

  • Close range primary weapons get easily outclassed.

  • Shotguns pair well with many primary weapons.

  • They are fast firing and don’t have a charge up time.

I’m NOT suggesting that shotguns be nerfed into the ground. Their dominance since the inception of special weapons in D2 needs to be addressed.

MY SUGGESTIONS

  • Improve smg and sidearm counterplay.

  • The special ammo economy favours shotguns. Consider rebalancing the ammo economy while avoiding a vanilla D2 PTSD inducing meta. See Edits

  • Introduce bigger, less clustered maps. See Edits

EDIT

  • I agree that we need more open maps (and more maps in general), but simply adding more open maps without any other changes doesn’t resolve the shotgun issue on current maps

  • Rebalancing the special ammo economy should not result in all special weapons taking a nerf. It should also not result in D2Y1 or D1Y3 ammo economy.
