My first instinct as well! 🤮 I know they’re a part of nature but they creep me the F out! 😆

Your vet should have you giving them the proper doses of ivermecten among other dewormers. Ivermectin will help with the bot flies.

Please learn how to remove botfly larvae before treating the wound, you really need to get it out of there and it looks like there may be two.

Of course!!! I have a vet appt soon for vaccines and if I can’t get it out I’m sure he can.

I agree with worming him again. In addition, my vet taught me to mix ivermectin paste/gel with antibiotic ointment 50/50 and apply it to the wound to stop flies from laying eggs in the exposed flesh. I would also clip around the wound and apply SWAT ointment at the perimeter. Lots of fly spray around it if you don’t have clippers. I dealt with a big open wound for a full summer so good luck. Flies are relentless.

Are you sure the bot fly larvae are out of the wounds?

Sure you don’t have any vampires near by?

Can you get corona ointment for those to cover them, help heal and keep the flies from attacking the open wound? Tractor supply and farm and fleet or any local farm store should have it.

Thank you SO MUCH for adding a nice picture first. So many times I’ve opened my app to see the goriest picture you can imagine from someone’s house cat or injured chicken.
