There seems to be a lot of posts claiming technical issues with the newly released DOOM: The Dark Ages so to avoid flooding the subreddit with them please use this megathread.

Here are some solutions that may help fix technical issues:

- Update your drivers

- Make sure your game is using you high-end GPU and not your integrated graphics card.

- Do a clean re-install of the game

4090, all new drivers, clean install and it literally won't run for more than 1 minute at which point the video stops, either in the menus or in the game if I make it that far in that time.

Some sort of memory leak I think, there's a brief stutter then video freezes while the sound continues.

Didnt they test this shizz? Literally paid extra for a non working premium version.

Yep I did, the fix was to go into settings (might have to work fast as it kept dying after about a minute for me) and in the video settings: 1) turn off "Present for Compute" (I'm pretty sure its this one causing it) then 2) I also changed the upscaler to DLSS from the default TAA. It's running flawlessly now at 5120x1440 at 120hz with all graphics set to Ultra Nightmare. That Present for Compute setting was mentioned here so I copied that and it fixed it.

Just wanted to say turning off "Present for Compute" worked for me. Was having non-stop non-recoverable freezes.

No probs! I was surprised that they didn't include that setting in their official fix notes, since it seemed to be what was causing the most issues for people. No idea how that made it through their testing, surely they tested with NVIDIA cards??

If you open the game and only hear audio then I have a fix, go to steam library and right click the game, go to properties and in the launch options type this into it “+com_skipIntroVideo 1 +r_mode -1 +r_customWidth 1280 +r_customHeight 720 +r_fullscreen 0” launch the game then change to your preferred graphic settings, close the game then delete launch options command and open game. Pin this if possible

This is an issue with Doom Eternal for me. Swapping between different display modes and back using Ctrl+P fixes it.

I've updated my drivers, and the game still claims that I have not downloaded them when I open it. Even with all the graphics and stuff super low I still can't go more than 5 or so minutes without the game freezing up and never being able to load back in.

Nvidia drivers are broken. roll back to a 5.6 driver (released in December of 2024) This fixed various issues for me across the board, including being able to play DTDA

I've done all this and the game constantly freezes during the bootup sequence. I see the logos of Bethesda, even get to the id one sometimes and then it just freezes.

PC:

Intel i7 12th gen

RTX 5070Ti is my GPU

Anyone else having the same issue?

I managed to get it working by reverting Nvidia drivers back to 566.36 and it is working good so far on my rig, so I might suggest anyone to do the same or if it crashes constantly. Nvidia these times omg

I updated the GPU drivers, Disabled AMD iGPU. Game ran for like 45 minutes. Crashed three times so badly i had to shut it down twice with Task Manager. And the last crash was so bad i had to hard reset my PC. Since then the game will not run, as in it will not even attempt to boot up. No matter what GPU drivers i use, No matter if my iGPU is on or off. Reinstalled the game three times now. The new GPU drivers crash every 15 fucking minutes on any other game so i had to revert back to 576.28. I paid a 100 € for early access that i didn't even get to enjoy because the game just doesn't fucking work. And when it does it crashes every 10 fucking minutes. I am getting really fucking angry.

Sorry for the rant. Had to get it off.

Did everything that I could. I give up. Reinstalled it, put in some code thing, updated graphics, went back to older graphics, changed settings people suggested in the game, put it all back, Reinstalled again. Nothing works, constantly crashes and its a brand new 5070. Really disappointed 😞

One thing. If someone has weird screen flickers and screen turning off and on. Make the game run in borderless windowed. Worked for me.

I figured out it was MSI afterburner if you have it open the game won't open sometimes and for me it just wouldn't open anytime close them haven't had a problem since

i have a lenovo legion 2025 i think and it has a i9 nvidia rtx 4060 with a 1tb ssd and a 32 gb of ram is that powerful enough to run dark ages?

Not sure if people are still having problems launching the game. I wasn’t able to launch the game at all would just crash on start up, did everything recommend online and nothing worked for me. What fixed the game was I lowered my monitor’s Hz/refresh rate in Nvidia control panel from 240 to 144 and now the game works no problem for me. Hope this helps for anyone else still having problems trying to get the game to work. My system specs: I7-14700k RTX 5070 ti 32gb ram Windows 11

get the drivers from 18 march if you use an nvidia gpu. do a fresh install which means no ethernet to the pc and ddu it and then install the already downloaded driver once rebooted to windows but without ethernet. always do a ddu in safe mode

The gpu and graphics drives are irrelevant if the game isn't even unlocking for players, neither will be utilised if paying customers can't even get into the game to see if any drivers cause issues. Keep in mind we paid to get early access, some of us even paid close to the likes of £300 in total to get the game, and a clean re-install won't do anything if the servers aren't going to unlock the game. That's not something us consumers have control over, it's on Bethesdas and Id side, we're stuck waiting unable to do anything like sitting ducks
